UGAS vs GMP

It seems GMP is winning slightly, but not many votes.

I do not use UGAS for any new sites and haven't for a long time, and it is mostly because of their lack of updates/lack of webmaster support. The "support" chat room moderators have no sense of humor and very little patience for new webmasters or anyone who needs tech support.

GMP is at the opposite end of the spectrum (yeah that was a pun), they are a gay operation, not a sad bastard child of a slow learning straight avs (sorry but agecheck wasn't that great either), when agecheck became cyberage UGAS should have been overhauled but it wasn't. GMP was, with a new team and a new site, and i'm sure that is why they were voted best gay avs this year on cybersocket. The guys are extremely helpful and nice, they make building avs sites about as enjoyable as possible (it's monotonous and horrible now on every avs thanks to cookie-cutter 20-50 pic sites becomming the standard. You cant win anymore with quality over quanitity.)

I do think the people at TTI know more about the business, but they have a lazy way of applying it to the gay market in my opinion. GMP's desire to improve and expand, not to mention work with their new webmasters, gives them an edge to me.

NOTE: This should probably be a new thread since I think it poses some interesting questions, I don't know how to respond to it here and make it a new post as well, so I'll leave that to one of the moderators.

Do you really think so?

I spend a lot of time building my sites. I can get two done in a day, three if I really push because I spend so much time on detail, writing descriptions, stories, etc. And it seems to be paying off, my sales are doubling about every 2 to 3 months.

I continue to get comments from webmasters and affiliate programs that my sites are nice, classy, well-designed, and fun to read.

And I'd like to think surfers think that they've hit the jackpot when they find one of my sites instead of one of those cookie cutter things I see submitted to the AVS's 400 times a day.

Do you not think that if we give in and join the cookie cutter crap machine that we just keep the industry stagnant? Do you not think if serious webmasters spent more time designing nice looking, well-thought out sites that we would begin to push the bar up a little?

I definately agree. The same can be said for any new adult site. If it dosn't have anything original or new, it is pointless and takes up space. This includes TGP galleries, free sites, avs/aen sites, and paysites. (and gay directories and webmaster resource sites)

i make my sites one at a time, no templates. i see sales increasing, and rebills, too. they're not the best sites around, but i try to make them fulfill everything they promise, and they are very easy to navigate.

imen scott, i have never heard back from you regarding monthly rebills at imen. i am curious what the overall signup ratio at the join page is for imen sites, and also what the overall monthly retention is. can you please find that out for me?

I would have to give this one to GMPass. They are proactive. I haven't used UGAS in a long time. They haven't really tried to change with the times, basically just staying the course.

Regarding Mancheck:

I used them in the past and had alot of success with them. I opted to make my big Plus site into a paysite the day before the Visa bomb dropped a couple of years ago. I lost my Plus rebills and never fully recovered from the loss of momentum. I suspect that Mancheck is doing very well for a select group of webmasters ;)

I have my main site with Cyberage Platinum and have always felt slighted by tri tech. I've made them a ton of money over the years and not so much as a thank you from a real person just a cheesy Christmas card. Oh well. I believe the whole AEN sector is very flat right now and the rewards will continue to diminish. Guys just aren't into Avs's anymore.

Huskyhunks - i haven't even gotten a christmas card from tritech after several years of using them, but i use 'em 'cause i make money. avs is a nice part of my sales, and ugas has always been a nice part of it - my new sites are making sales and my old sites are making rebills.

I would say that I trust them, especially on payday. I'm going to try regular Ugas and Ugas Platinum again to see what happens even though I know it will be harder to sell than in the past.

Ugas and GMPass have very contrasting styles when it comes to dealing with webmasters. Thank you's are nice, but trusting a company is more important. I voted for UGAS because they offer nice rebills.

I was digging thru my old threads and found this one, and I have to say: IMEN SCOTT - spamming a thread with your service multiple times while offering nothing interesting to the subject is really, really fucking LAME! Shame on you! You made me feel iffy about using your service before I even had a chance to check it out!

Your instincts are probably correct, though. I posted a bunch of questions for him in this thread and he never answered one! A little feedback would have been nice.

i'm going to stand up for scott here. yes, it WAS spam. but as far as the questions, he couldn't get answers. he kept asking, but they didn't seem to want him to know :-/

Scott had the unfortunate task of trying to get a site off the ground that was designed by the ProAdult team of straight men and women. That's not a bad thing in itself, but just because you draw up some plans in a board room and make a very nice site design doesn't mean your going to be successful.

I don't think anyone at ProAdult knows the gay market. If they did, they would have known that you have to have a team of people working for you that know the market, know the webmasters, know the tgp owners, link list owners, and all of the support people that it takes to earn the trust of gay webmasters. And not just one person !

Scott reminded me of GMS Dan. The gay guru who would know enough to save the day. They are good guys. They worked very hard to try to get some momentum going for their respective companies but it's take a team of inside people to make it work. I was hoping that ProAdult would hire from within this community but it seems that they aren't interested anymore because the gay market isn't as wide open as it used to be. I wouldn't blame Scott for taking the measures that he did.

To Basschick, that last reply wasn't a knock on straight men and women, I think you're a cool gal who knows both markets and would have helped them a great deal. So, in the end, it's not about hiring a token gay person, it's about hiring people that know the market ;)

I think the issues mentioned above are not only true of iMen but also alost every other major straight company trying to 'break' into the gay market they dont realize they need to do everything they did to get where they are in the straight side of the industry again for the gay community and, many of them also dont realize that it will take just as long, if not longer to get their reputation in the gay community too.

So are y'all saying that iMEN is pretty much going to be a dead dog? Another red-headed, stepsister of the beautiful Helena, as it were? It sounds like there's no one at the helm and it'll just sit there and fester from the lack of development, and when the rebillings die off, they'll shut it down.

I had some sites over there, just wondering if I should find them a new home now.

Dzinerbear... mirror your Imen sites at ProAdult. My mirrored PA/Imen sites did better with PA anyway.

i happen to like iMen. the design is pretty cool too. they just need someone at the helm driving the ship where it's supposed to go

I was in total lust for GMS Dan. I think the last I heard of him, he was in Thailand, traveling the world, that was a couple of years ago, right before the end of GMS, so I'm sure the writing was on the wall for him. I can't really blame him for not hanging around. That whole adult check thing... man, I would have changed my name and moved to Sri Lanka.

Let's hope ProAdult has the good sense to put some real effort into Imen. Buying traffic and space in the straight resource market is not very smart. Oh well, someone please start a Gay AVS around 24.95 a month and we get $16 for rebills again. That seemed to be a winning combination - at least for me !

i'm not straight, i'm very much bisexual, and i know the gay male market far better than i know the straight market - especially the mainstream straight market.

actually i also know the gay market far better than the lesbian market.

When I see you're avatar it makes me think of Me'Shell Ndegeocello, (had to look up the spelling). Are you a fan ?

One thing I do have to say about gmp; they never have sent my check to my correct address yet. They always send it out wrong, get it back, hand print the address and send it out again. I wonder how hard it would really be to just update my address in their computers? The first check even went out to a 4 year old address that I never even gave to them, with my old RealPay (real sex network or something like that) account id on it! I'm not at all trying to discourage new webmasters, the proof of their quality is in the fact that they always put up with my "where the fuck is my check" rants and raves, go find it, and hand print my address on it, and if its very late they even print a new one with my current balance on it.

UGAS! Because GMP owe me about $500
