Held out for something? You mean 'held out' as in not try to win content for my sites or 'held out' in not do Lee the favour and post the contest details unless there was renumeration?

IF A, anyone who runs a site can always use good quality content, so why should anyone who is doing a favour for someone be disqualified from entering?

IF B, I don't do things that way. People ask for help and if I am able to, I give it. I don't do things in expectations of receiving renumerations, that's what my business is for. :coffee:

I am glad you were not mad man, it’s hard for me to tell sometimes, and I do have that effect on people from time to time. I will say it has been nice with you as the monitor, you chat with us more and every thing :thumbsup:

Max, just get out there and start shooting pics with your camera of anything and everything. There are basic fundementals for photo/video work and most you can learn by just getting out there and taking pics. Grab a few books and take it from there. Save yourself a bit of cash and find out first if this is something for you.

Well its just that “get out there” is a problem for me right now, I spend all day in front of my PC, in fact its been 5 months sense I have sat down in my living room and even watched a movie. I wake up and start on the PC with in 5 minuets and I am in front of it until its time for bed. But I will try to learn that as soon as I have the time, I just have few steps to complete first is all, and it will have to “be something for me” I have to have exclusive videos and pics at sometime, and I am very visual so it should be ok :juggle:

Easier said than done. Shooting models is not just clicking a cheapie digital camera. There are many things to consider. High quality cameras, lighting rigs, locations, paying the models. It all can add up to a lot of money, time and effort. Not to mention scouting models. And while a lot of them are really nice guys, some can be really high maintenance. Then there's the legal aspect of consulting a lawyer, making sure all the IDs are collected and proper paperwork signed. I'm not against people shooting their own, I'm all for it. I still think content providers are important because webmasters will always need to add new content in between their own shoots. But people always act like shooting your own content is so easy and anyone can do it, but it's way more work (if you want professional quality content, that is) than most people realize.

I know your right about that man, that’s some of the reasons why I have not tried to do it yet, I need at least months to practice and learn, before I can even attempt to do it, that said, I will have to do it, its just another step that I will have to take. :kelly:

Just hope he isn't sidelined by trips to the Chiropracter, after all two days of getting laid on a hardwood floor can be rather painful...:whip: :cry:

Yeah you can't just run out and photograph some guy. Hell its a nightmare doing it when the bloody subject is inanimate. Been doing that now for 4 weeks for a mainstream site and its a royal pain. Least though with digital stuff its easy to realize just how bloody awful one can be in taking a picture. :cry: :coffee:

Ya, I am sure Lee will be back soon, but you did really good I think Lee should let you do this full time

Ya taking pics and videos are going to be a real pain at first, I am sure will be tempted to throw my cam over a cliff at many times like I have wanted to throw my PC out the window many times as well. It will be nice to work out side sometimes though, I think I will also have to have help to do it, not sure most people could do a video and take pics at the same time, or do you think the do the shots 2 times on for Video one for pics? I have seen some videos you can see the flash of the cam, but I would really not like to do that, maybe this that is just a lighting situation, where if I can get the lighting right I would not need a flash so I could do both at one time. It is going to be a bitch, even thinking about this brings up like 20 other questions on lighting indoors and outdoors. :notsure:

I never did say in my post to start shooting models right off the hop, what I did say was to learn the basics of shooting first whether you are shooting your friends at a BBQ/party or some scenic image while on vacation. You have to start somewhere might as well start with something that won't cost an arm and leg.

Don Mike you are right it is a lot of work to get professional quality content, I've worked in the media industry for 9 years and everyday and every shoot is different from the last...it's a never ending education.

Sorry prairiegrrl, I didn't mean to discount what you were saying. I think I was just in a mood and read it the wrong way. But you are right, no matter what you are going to do it's a good idea to try it out in a small way, learn what you are doing and really spend the time educating yourself before jumping in head first and spending a lot of money, because you might find you don't like it or that your talents really lie elsewhere.

Right on! It is so nice to hear someone say that. I've said it before and even though a lot of people abide by that train of thought, a lot still don't. Sometimes people take things the wrong way on the boards and it goes way out of proportion.
