Very sad news re: Andy Dill

This is the most horrifying news. Andy and I just "met" for the first time on 11-19. I didn't know Top Cat was Andy Dill until I saw a picture that he posted. I mustered up the nerve to send him a private message and tell him that I am a huge fan of his work. He was so nice and I felt good knowing that I just chatted with someone I admired very much.

I came tonight to post about Andy but see that the news has already been shared. Ironically, we posted just over a year ago to this site looking for a VP of production. It was through that listing that we found Andy. Over the past year, I know he has been very active in this community and such a wonderful asset to the BearFilms.com team.

We will miss him very much and know that he will be impossible to replace. Thank you for all of the kind words shared here. Andy really thought the world of this community!

I'm new to the biz and Andy has helped me each and every step of the way. He always took time for phone calls, emails, etc.

A tragic loss, not just to our day-to-day business, but to all of mankind. Such a swell guy.

I spent the last 9 months working with Andy day in and day out for Bearfilms.

Andy has taught me everything I know about this industry and really offered the most amazing insight and education one could ever get....

I worked from his home...and I just can't believe he is gone....It's over....

I do know this, He really found great joy and friends from this industry.....and spoke highly of many many people....and this forum...

This year he came back from Burning Man with a new spark for life...He loved the experience and He told me that he was going to make the most of his time and life in SF...and did that...

Andy bought a pair of Black Converses last week and they still sit underneath his desk where he always rested is feet..

I just feel the need to Thank Everyone who knew Andy...AND If he did have any last words I think they would be " I LOVE YOU ALL and THANK YOU"

In the wake of Andy's death...I have every intention of continuing the spirit of his work.....

Andy..Rest in Peace....

WOW! I am so shocked and bummed. What a really cool guy. He called me a couple times to help with talent when everyone else was so freaked out by me! He was one of the good guys.

Not yet. I'm waiting to hear back. You might want to exploit some of the contacts here on this board though. They might know.

Keep us posted Ken! We'd very much like to send flowers for the funeral. The AVNOnline newsletter article was the first thing I read this morning and I cried my eyes out. I just talked to him last week and got an email from him on Saturday.

God it's so damn sad! He was a very special guy, both inside and out and we'd become closer friends as a result of him bringing his member site redheadguys.com over to host with the Badpuppy Network.

I need to find out who to talk to about his site and what to do with his membership money earned. If someone could put me in touch with his partner, that would be great, or put his partner in touch with me.

He had so many friends who thought the world of him. I only hope he knew! OK, I'm going to cry again! Gotta go!

I never met Andy, but my condolences go out to all that knew him and especially to his close friends and family.

I've never met him, but I have just read through this thread and it's very touching. He seems to radiate positive energy in his pictures.

It's so amazing to read all these wonderful things about Andy. I have known him for a couple of years and he was one of those people that was always willing to help. We just had dinner a week ago and I consider myself really lucky that I had that time with him. He will so be missed.

I was with Andy in Phoenix, we became friends, and he was down her eat my home in Florida, just a few weeks ago...when I got the call, I was floored, then to make it worse, I got a screener from him with a note the next day. Very Sad, Andy was a great guy, Nice guy....such a great tribute to the person he was, that all of these posts and not one bad thing to say. He will be sorely missed......private joke to Andy... Damnit, guess I will have to rent a car next year>?...damn.

That is too bad. I spoke with him once via a private because I actually clicked on his link just to let him know that I liked his site. He replied back (something that I did not think he would do). Him doing that made me believe he was a very nice guy.

I enjoyed his posts as well on here reading through them from time to time. I know he will be missed

Andy's family has requested in lieu of flowers that donations be made to:

St James Infirmary (I tried to post the URL but apparently I haven't made enough posts yet- put all the words together and add .org)

I am very sad to have to introduce myself with this kind of news, but I am one of the owners of BearFilms and had been working closely with Andy for the past few months to redesign our site and improve its features, etc. He was also trying to teach me what he knew about SEO, traffic, affiliates, and all other parts of 'the business' and he frequently referred me to this forum for information. I know that he regarded all of you very highly for your expertise and your willingness to help each other out. For weeks he had been encouraging me to introduce myself here to get to know you all, but I could never find the time- I'm just sorry it had to be under these circumstances.

I know I speak for all of us at BearFilms when I say that all of the wonderful posts about Andy have meant a lot to us. We always thought he was pretty special and it's comforting to hear that so many other people thought so too.
