thanks for clueing me in, Rocky...

I really had no clue...(and still don't on many levels!)

funny thing is, that even though I was told by my folks and society that I was frying my brain (when 18 or so on LSD and all the psychodelics at that time)
I have still pulled through ok in the end...) no mal-formed babies or arms growing out of the side of my head, or anything like that

However, and I do mean HOWEVER, in all caps, I did start and stop doing drugs early in life and manage to pull myself pretty quickly...

I guess the big differences these days is that most of the drugs such as coke and crystal, etc. are highly addictive - I don't thinkg the psychodelics ever were - but then again, I don't know.

I'm just glad that I stopped when I did and have had a chance to see life from many perspectives...

yeah Don Mike...and now that you mention it, VALLEY OF THE DOLLS was, and remains a very sobering look at pharmaceuticals addiction...although, a gay classic (turn in your gay card if you haven't seen it) it is a sad view of the reality of pill addiction...

Sorry, haven't seen it (but I can't dance and listen to punk rock so they never gave me a gay card anyway), but I have watched Requiem for a Dream starring the super sexy Jared Leto, and that is by far the most depressing drug movie I've ever watched.

All these name for drugs today. At least back in the 7o's and 80's you knew what you were taking. Today if someone asks you if you want some *****, your not sure what they have.
And why all the girl names for drugs now. We never called anything "Judy's" or "Liza's" or "Madonna's"

Sometimes I cannot help but laugh - not at you, Bella, but at the how people are missing the bigger picture.

Sure, the amount of people with a dependency problem has gone up, but that is not only due to recreational narcotics. It is because of the amount of choices we are given and the amount or level of influence we receive from others (such as friends, family, marketing etc).

Society stills refuses to accept or understand stand that religion, money, 'success', pharmaceuticals, sex, porn, gambling, alcohol, tobacco (still the two biggest accepted hypocrisies, in my eyes), shopping, fighting & the thug lifestyle, wanting to be a pimp, modding autos, caffeine (coffee, tea, chocolate etc), junk food, eating excessively, sugar, keeping up with the Joneses, work etcetera are ALL coping mechanisms or "drugs"!

People seem to think that the term addiction only refers to pot (WTF, how does one get addicted to that?), cocaine, heroin, and others in the same category, while they convenientlyover look their nasty little pleasures.

Name a drug and I have most likely licked, snorted/sniffed, placed it on my eye, smoked or inhaled it, and ingested it (and often all at the same time), yet I do not 'need' to return to 'it'.
IF anything, I am finding it next to impossible to quit work and my want for money and shiny things!

On the other hand, maybe I just have a non-addictive personality ... however, what do I know, aside from the fact that I am a drug dealer, and the drug I push is porn!

I always took pride in having a "non addictive" personality because I don't drink very often and never got into drugs. But looking at my life lately I'm a total sugar and caffiene addict. I've tried to get off of them but I always come back. It's not an easy habit to break, and they both have very physical and mental aspects of addiction to them.

I totally agree. I quite smoking over two years ago. All was going well, except for when I was having a cup of coffee (I had a very strong urge to puff). So I tried to take a break from Java ... NOT a good idea.

as for sugar ... I love chocolate, way too much!

I have an extremely addictive personality, but I realized this early on and have gotten myself purposely addicted to health food and running (the best high ever, seriously). Because I am addicted to these, there are certain things that I cannot do, like drink every night, because I hate running on a hang over. I can't get high all the time because then I will eat only shit food and not health food (my body is also addicted to health food and I get sick if I eat more than a little sugar or too many carbs).
Addiction is not always a bad thing, but people need to escape reality, period. Getting addicted to things that are harmful to your body is definetely not a good thing in the long run. Paco over here is definitely addicted to the white stuff, but it is a productive addiction in the fact that it keep him in shape and that it doesn't destroy his brain.
Drugs are so boring when I think about it. I'd take a weekend skiing with Paco over a weekend doing drugs and drinking anytime.

I lived in LA for 5 years and I despise it. The last time one of my friends got me to drive to LA was when he died and I went up for the funeral.

Ah, I can understand that. Some people love it and some hate it. San Diego is a really nice area. I have friends there. :)
