I call bullshit on that.
I told you that I could have it outsourced to one of my guys in Ithaca who could get it delivered for you OR I could FTP it OR I could put it on Data-DVD, but it would take a while. All of this was clearly explained to you.
It does not matter now. You are not willing to ANYBODY and resort to telling reputable people who have been in this business for many, many years that they do not know how to conduct business. Apparently, judging from your posts, nobody seems to know how to do business except for you.
So I choose not to do business with you.
You will be getting your refund.
And please, feel free to point out which of those discs has "Cinderella" on it. Perhaps you can use this refund to get some glasses.

yes, clown. it was clearly explained to me that you couldn't deliver right AFTER I paid you.

it will take a little longer and these are raw, large, uncompressed avi files, but you will get them

hmmmm, a so called content guy who can't deliver content in over a month and a review site clown with his myspace page in his sig?
if thats what passes for reputable here, this is a pretty odd place.
I got to meet alot of you in person at the phoenix forum. Our content business does well, as do our several DVD lines. Our agreements with our clients are IN WRITING , so there is a "Founding document " to refer back to. Changes of course, are part of business , but a founding doc at least let's everyone agree from whence they began , and move forward, on grounds peeps can agree on .
If I or my brother may be off any assistance, send me a pm . Again, it was a pleasure to actually meet, greet, ( and sometimes eat ) with so many great peeps at the forum.
Perhaps my personal appearance helped to stop stories spread by "Jealous competitors", that we really don't run our own operations. CERTAINLY THE HISTORY OF THIS BUSINESS is littered with the corpes of those "Stars" who thought they could be producers. We were very fortunate to have such a vast amount of experience, before and behind the cameras. with a good mentor, before we went out on our own, a tradition that continues today with guys like Dave at Boydollars . So yes, you can be 24 and run a successful company, if your mind is focused and your skills, sharp.
Personally, we'd rather focus on the positive and continue to move forward, rather then get in rant contests. That seems to jive with many of the great pro's who make up this, and other boards. We 're currently open to suggestion on all sorts of partnership arrangements, member sites, videos stores,. blogs, u name it .
Again, if we may be of any assistance to to any here , please let us know .

First, I never said I couldn't deliver. I said that there was an issue with the content being out onto the mini-dv and I had other options for delivery so that you could get your order. FTP and outsourcing were both proposed to you, which you declined.
Second, it was a week after you ordered, because you were at the Phoenix Forum and I had no way to contact you other than ICQ, which you were not signed into. I tried to email you, but (as I have stated) the email was bounced back. That is hardly "right after."
Third, as it has been explained to you by me AND by DonMike, taking content from a Mini-DV and putting it onto a DVD takes a LOT of time, which I did for you as a special favor, since it CLEARLY STATES on the order site that all video content is delivered via Mini-DV. If you did not know what Mini-DV was, then you should not have placed an order without finding out.
Fourth, as I have also previously explained, this took a lot of time because I was BUSY SHOOTING CONTENT from Wednesday through Sunday and had to STOP my photo and video shoots every few minutes just to make sure your content was being prepared the way YOU wanted.
So I guess I am wrong for making sure that you, the customer, were getting what you paid for in the format that you specifically requested, and doing so as I am ON SET and in the middle of FILMING!!!
So forgive the fuck out of me if I cannot deliver your order over-fucking-night as I am working from 9am until 2am every god damn day, running back and forth across my studio filming a few minutes of footage, then checking your content, then filming some more, then checking your content again... all fucking day, every fucking day for almost 2 weeks. NOT TO MENTION the time I had to take to edit two of the clips down because they were TOO BIG to fit uncompressed on a DVD, which is a problem I told you about, as well!!! Do you have any idea how long it takes to film a scene and take photos, while at the same time trying to export footage from the raw Mini-DV footage to the computer, edit it, then burn it on a DVD?
I do not know why I continue to post on this subject, so I will not. There is an "ignore" option for a reason.
And now, once again, good day to you. Keep wasting your breath here insulting me and the others in this community. If you are so schooled in "business" then you should be well aware that you catch more flies with honey an dyou never burn a bridge.
Good luck to you, sir. With your business demeanor, I am sure you need as much of it as you can acquire.
Sincerely,
Rocky Brown
I can't wait to hear your excuse for my check not arriving. :juggle:
For the record, Desslock runs a well known and highly respected review site which has been around for quite a few years and sends a lot of traffic to various programs. I may not always agree with his viewpoints, but to characterize him as somebody who doesn't understand business when he's a well known and respected player in the gay adult industry is inappropriate. Likewise, DonMike has been in the content business forever and made several legitimate points.
Also for the record, as someone who shoots and works with content constantly, I can assure you that when you're working directly with a small producer who shoots original, exclusive content, it is very common to receive content on DV tape, as for many of us, that's the native format for it. I would personally much prefer to receive content on DV because it's much, much higher quality than what one can get on DVD, and as DonMike said, it's no small effort to transcode content from uncompressed DV-AVI to the MPEG format required for DVD, not to mention it's an excruciatingly slow process, even with the fastest computer.
I think Rocky would agree that he's far from perfect, as am I, and as is most everyone else in the world. He's had some difficult situations and has a lot of people breathing down his neck, and yet, instead of disappearing and stiffing everyone as many in his situation have done in the past, he's staying put, speaking publicly about the issues, and doing his best to do right by everyone.
Yes, I'd be pissed as well if I'd waited a month for something, and you have every right to be upset. But it sounds like Rocky is doing his best to do the right thing. He's offered you a full refund, even though he's put probably at least 20-30 hours of encoding time into your project, judging from the number of discs in the picture. So either way, whether he delivers the content and keeps your money, or gives you a refund, he's lost a ton of money on the deal in terms of his time.
Seems like he's trying to do the right thing. Perhaps, instead of continuing to bash after he's made clear he wants to make things right, you should sit tight and see if the check *does* show up. If it doesn't, you can always post again. But saying "I know I'm not going to get it" serves no purpose at all.
I have to echo Chips remarks.
I too do not always agree with Desslock's point of view or politics, but he is a well respected part of our communtiy and a good businessman.
At the very least I think you owe him an apology.
People can have heated debate without resorting to namecalling or trying to belittle someone.
if paysites don't have updates on time, it can cost many thousands of dollars and harm the site's reputation.
rocky, i'm curious about something, and since it's none of my business, please feel free not to answer. did you offer to send the content on a harddrive to be followed by the dvds when you knew you were going to be late?
No, I offered to FTP them or have them outsourced to a friend of mine in Ithaca, NY who could have processed and delivered them much, much faster than I could have by burning them to DVD (since 12clicks is in Medford, NJ and the content would reach him from Ithaca quicker than from San Diego).
I honestly had not thought about putting them on another hard drive and sending it. That would have solved SOOOO much time and relieved SOOOO many problems had I thought of it. Where were you 3 weeks ago? :-P
R.
The answer to Basschick's question is "no"
however, if you want to keep adding lies about our transaction, I'll keep correcting you.
this is the exchange over outsourcing. this had nothing to do with burning them to DVD.

dude, seriously. you tell me you can't deliver after I pay you? wtf?
this is the ONLY time you mentioned outsourcing. this had nothing to do with me wanting DVDs and everything to do with you being unable to deliver mini dv.
I am not going to sit here and debate this with you all over again today. You copy and paste conversations at your leisure, omitting very important details in order to make yourself look more favorable. I mentioned outsourcing, you declined it in favor of having me encode the video from Mini-DV to DVD, regardless of my warning that it would take longer. I never once said that I could not deliver the content. That is an assumption you created when I told you that I was having difficult with freezing at the exporting of the files to Mini-DV. I always, always deliver on content and my reputation for doing so efficiently with the best quality remains intact to my current clients (Pride Studios, ICP, EENT, BluMedia & D&E productions). Sure, sometimes problems arise with content delivery (such as a bad tape or cd that did not burn properly), to which I promptly address and correct the issue, as I tried to do with you. However, with your irrational behavior and penchant for "flying off the handle" over a simple, correctable issue, I found it very difficult to appease you. Honestly, had I even thought of the option of getting a hard drive in order to store all of these files to send to you, I would have. Each video file is at least 4 gigs or over. That's a lot of video to convert and burn. By your own admission in one of our discussions, you do not know much about the video editing aspect of this business, so I do not expect you to understand. DonMike and Chip have both pointed out the difficulty and consumption of time in putting your order on DVD, but you do not seem to comprehend it.
Today I am much calmer than I was yesterday, and I want all parties to be satisfied. Having said that, I still do not wish to do business with you and your refund is en route.
As for what to do with the content, I will simply use these DVD's as back-up in case I need to use them again, so at least something positive came of this experience.
I wish nothing but the best in business for you and if we ever meet at a convention, I will introduce myself and shake your hand, and hopefully this entire episode can be put behind us and we can both move on in our respective business ventures.
Rocky
You're a liar.
However, you have face to save here so I'll let you save it.
after you had my money, you admitted that you could not send me mini dv because you were having trouble doing it.
I shouted out for content people. you replied. if you're going to pretend to be a content provider, you should make sure you can provide it. not take my money and then *discover* that you can't transfer to mini dv.
Under those circumstances, asking for my money back is not irrational or "flying off the handle"
