First off as for the Application to live in MO. That thing has been floating around for ages, i remember that thing from junior high (Over 10 years ago lol)

It is virtualy interchangeable for any state, in fact my copy said Michigan.

I dont know you, but I wonder would you have had the same reaction to that post if it said any other state on it?

As for remarks like "Thats so gay" I get tired of people jumping up and screaming FOUL for slang terms, I highly doubt that anytime someone makes the comment "Thats so gay" That they actualy mean a literal sence of the word gay.

As you know our english laungauge (which i cant spell well lol) is used and abused 1000 times over, words mean literaly many differant things, but it amazes me how many people get upset at certain words actualy used out of context.

Which brings me to the next point.

If Snagglepuss lived in MO and was gay, would it make it ok?

Using the N word as an example:

it is ok (so it has been said) for african americans to use the N word openly and freely, however if a person of the Caucasian persuasion says it it is WRONG.

Same with jewish terms its okay for a jewish comedian to poke fun at themself but not for a chatolic to do it.

and i guess the same goes for gay terms, its fully okay (i don't think so) for gay people to exploit and compound the typicle sterotypes, but if we straights do it its wrong, thats why we have GLAD, to help protect people of their rights.

However i think things have gotten out of controll, a word is a word and if someone says "Hey look at this picture of my dog" and the other person responds "Thats so gay" I cant see why the hell anyone can be offended by that, gay or straight.

Ok i think that is a bit out of left feild. there is a HUUUUUGE differance between the 1-4 words you used above and someone making a comment "Thats so gay" to any type of comment NOT meant and or most time not able to be linked to the actual meaning of the word gay.

What about the bulk of my points? why is it ok for gay people to use the word but not for straights? If a gay person was to use the comment thats so gay it would not be a huge deal would it? If snagglepuss was gay and lived in MO, and he said living in Mo is gay, i guess that would be ok????

You did take that way out of context - He was saying stupid str8 boys who use "that's fucking gay" "that's so gay" "that's so fucking gay" etc,etc, etc as deragatory slang. Yeah we may be extra sensitive about shit like that, but maybe you can understand it better this way:

When my rents divorced, for a time my mom had us living in a trailer park because she was busting ass to take care of us and couldn't afford a house. Trailer parks are fine, trailers are fine, better shelter than most animals on earch can provide for themselves, no reason to feel bad or care if you live in one. But the terms "That's so trailer park" and "trailer trash" still kinda sting me and make me instantly think the people saying them are ignorant. It's no different.

Putting down any aspect of another persons life that they don't WANT to feel bad about and adding a stigma to it is stupid and ignorant, we should ALL want to build each other up not tear each other down. Who wants to live in a world where you are surrounded by people with insecurities and holes in their self-esteem that YOU helped put there?

ps - Netpond is a GREAT service to webmasters; I'm sorry I made my own ignorant statements in response to someone elses. I know it's hard to weed out all the crap, nobody should expect you guys to.

Very well said.

A hetro female friend of mine used to use that term all the time. I asked her to stop using it and she did.

She only started using it because her 15 year old son says it.

She also asked her boy to stop using it when she realized (after my conversation with her) that it IS and does have negative connotations.

He was always saying it because all of his peers said it.

Some people just don't think...they say what they hear others say and they don't even realize how much it may hurt someone or how stupid it might sound. (my opinion is that they are more sheep like, or they can't think too well for themselves) They just wanna be cool, trendy and be with the times...use, wear and say what everyone else does.

People that are hurt or offended by this are supposed to just get tougher skin and blow it off....because some will say "They didn't mean it that way"

Whatever way someone says something, if it offends someone else...why couldn't they just apologize? Then maybe whoever was offended could let it go.....Then that would be the end of it!

But seriously.. there is a reason we call people African Americans instead of other words. Here in Australia Aboriginals are offended being called Abo . I was talking to a friend and said the word "Abo" in conversation ( shortening Aboriginal by nature ) and he had a ghastly look on his face and said "Don't call them that it's an insult to them." I didn't know that.. but now that I new better.. I did better. I don't use that word. Pretty simple really and all I needed to know is that they were offended and that's all it took for me to stop.
