i'm not a gay man but the avs sites i make sell better for me than many sites made by gay men for gay men.
using that logic, i don't think you have to be a lesbian to market porn for lesbians. that being said, i talked to people, read countless egroups, looked at many many print mags and newspapers in order to work any niche i am not a member of. also different lesbians have different tastes and fetishes in love, lust, sex and life. ya can't satisfy all of any type of person with one website, one tv show, or one band ;-)

Like I said Basschick, I wasn't putting anyone down. Maybe it's because I've seen very few if any sites strictly dedicated to lesbians.
Maybe I'm becoming bias and rash about it. On the other hand, I'd be happy to see what anyone comes up with to solve this dyke problem :groovy:
She Devil - it's not that designers and programs have failed to make lesbian sites that would consist of women into women. it's that they haven't tried.
LdyLnWolf1 turned me onto a thread last night on another board. hopefully she can supply that url here. in it, i read people say that there is no market for real lesbian, and that lesbians themselves aren't really enough market to make sites for. and i've heard that from a lot of webmasters. the funny thing is that none of these webmasters have TRIED to make a real lesbian site aimed at females to see if women (and men) will buy. they just assume that it won't sell.
the amazing thing is that they haven't noticed, but lesbian sex videos sell - to lesbian women. wouldn't that mean that there IS a market?
basschick - you made a VERY valid point here. And it's not only aimed to the lesbian market. Too many webmasters do not look offline for market research. Not saying that everything offline effects online BUT it definitely has advantages to look at the possiblities.Quote:

What has surprised me is a webmaster will hear there is a shortage of "furbies" for Christmas (remember them LOL) and buy as many as possible to sell on line. But rarely would they go down to the local (or as local) sex toy store to see what it is that's selling. Our local shop has a top ten video list on their counter. We go to browse, I love to look at it and see what the hot sales are; and, even to see what the special/sale video titles are that week.
And this can be done without going to a local store. Just goes to show you how many do not look beyond what they read on some boards.

Gary-Alan - i bought furbies for up to $150 a piece that year for a friend. i had some i got for $75 each that i got offers of up to several hundred dollars for. and right after christmas, i bought one as a birthday present for someone for $39.
most of the webmasters i know never do research of any kind. when i tell them to either go to egroups and FIND some groups or else (worse) go to an adult bookstore, they are shocked that i think they would do such things. yet they some of them spend hours a day doing galleries that make no sales *LOL*
i love watching people! they're like an enormous sitcom :)
