approach 35# ~ once you've located a potential model , try and single him out from the crowd! , you want to have a "one on one" without the distraction of "peering-ears" or other interruptions!
find a "common-topic" ( the girl he's been staring at , what he likes to do , etc. ) play on it a bit and then quickly move into what you do for a living ( try to refrain from using the words "porn" , "pornography" instead give it a polish with words like "adult" , "male-nude" , etc.

as you can see this is approach 35# :goof: , no two guys are alike , and you will not always get a "yes" immediately ( most people chew before they swallow! )
don't get discouraged! , move on to the next one! , you will find the more you "approach" the more "brazen"..err.."confident" you will become! :francais:

Yeah, it's not as easy as it seems. I've never really tried to approach guys myself, but i always have ads running for "sexy energetic girls" for talent scout positions.

hmmm...some come in and they're excited (Boyfunk...i think we're run through this before) about the $200 referral fee...i print personalized biz cards for them...but then after a week when i call them, they haven’t done scouting worth shit!!

My ads for "male models" don't do too well (most of the guys are not qualified) so i almost feel like i'm at the mercy of these girls. So when they don't bring in as much talent as i'd like them to, i get discouraged and think that maybe the referral fee is not enough. ??? but really i don't think increasing the fee is going to motivate them any more. If they're not making the effort to go up to all the hotties that they see on a daily basis, then money is not the issue.

Does anyone see any major problems with this system of recruiting talent scouts (to further recruite male models)?

Some of you other guys who use talent scouts...what works for you to keep them motivated? Are your talent scouts personal friends? If not, do you guys still have a close relationship? Or are they just random people (like pretty much in my case)?

ps...from what i know....what works best is what longboardjim mentioned: to have an actual conversation with them right off the bat. You can't just hand them a card and hope that they'll call. Most of the time they wont.

You'll be much more successful at this if you talk to them for a while so that they know you're a cool guys who's also professional.

Wow I think 200 is really good for referrals. I was paying 50 bucks, lol. But I haven't had people go out and recruit yet so I can't help you there. But I would think for 200 a referral people would definetly be working hard.

It's going to be a while yet before you see those kinds of pictures of me. You see I'm working with a trainer to become less of a bear bear and more of a muscle bear. And until that happens the only guy who sees anything more than that is Ted, or Jasun if he asked, maybe Don if he had a belt in his hand, and okay xstr8guy, too. I can think of a couple of others here, but I don't want to come across as a slut.

yeah, i think $200 is a lot of money too. So i don't think it's the money that's not making them work...it's prob just that half of the girls that i've interviewed weren't even qualified but i still gave them a chance anyway.

The reason that i'm paying so much for referrals is that i want people to actually WORK at getting me talent. I want girls who're going to do this aggressively on a serious level. But the more i do this the more i realize that if they're not actually employed by our company, it's very unlikely that they're actually going to go out and actively seek talent.

I had amazing talent scouts before so i'm sure there are other good ones out there.

Snowboy, I'd kill to make $200 a head to recruit models. As long as there is a way to track the guys I brought in, anyway. I mean, maybe these girls are feeling like sure they can go out and recruit guys over to you but how do the girls know that your giving them the credit?

If you had an office the girls could sit, make the calls to the guys they contacted then pass the phone to a scheduler who then brings the guys in for test shoots, that might be more security for your recruiters.

Hey Mamakity. Thanks for the new perspective!!!!

so far i've been interviewing the girls letting them that they need to do ALL the work of approaching the guys and explaining the details of the work and ONLY THEN do i want them to refer them over to me. So basically for the $200 i expected them to do ALL the dirty work.

Or...NEW IDEA...I could drop the commission down to maybe $100 and just give them general company cards...."male models wanted...hot sexy muscled guy wanted for nude photo and video work...call 604-123-4567" (blah blah)...and ask them to simply hand them out to potential models....with their name printed on the cards so that i could compensate them accordingly.

This way, i think it's much less scary for them. They can approach more guys this way since all they really have to do is talk to them for a bit and hand the a card. I'd have to do most of the other work when and if they call, but i wont be paying them half as much. Hmmmm...i think this is a better system. What do you think?

I haven't tried the in person recruiting yet so I can't get to much good advice but I will try anyway. I think your idea is good. I think it is definetly worth a try. If you have a website you could direct them to a specific url in order to get credit. At $200 if your people are not producing then you seriously need to restructure something. :)

yeah, the only problem with asking the talent scouts to hand out general company biz cards (instead of their own biz cards with their own phone number on them) to potential models is that they would want to be sure that they are being compensated for models that actually come through. I can't think how i could guarantee this to them besides offering them my own personal guarantee. Which is not always enough in this situation.

Any thoughts?

I find that when you make it hard for models to apply (ie go to the website to fill out a form instead of giving them a direct number that they can call) they tend to lose interest and give up.

I think just having the cards with your number would be best. These modeling recruits would represent your company and I could just see some problems having them explain every last detail unless you really train them. I would just have your number and then every time you get a model ask who or where they found out about you and give that person credit. This would also help because you would know details of which advertising is doing well and which is not. For example if you do any advertising in the paper you could know how much business you are getting from that ad etc.

okay "porn recruiting class" repeat after me!..."i get $200.00 simply for talking a guy into posing nude and jacking off for an adult website , i may use any and all types of seductive clothing and dialog , but i may not touch or promise sex! , i am expected to maintain a monthly quota of 30 guys but not to exceed 60 because my lowly photographer has to pay 8 other girls besides myself , i promise to do my best , to do my duty , and obey the laws of the pack..err..porn! :goof:
