Lots of members just quit my site...

I think there's a time and a place for political conversatons.

I myself had an infuriating experience the other day with a health care worker here in Canada.

Right before the bloodwork was to begin (long story short. . but I found out I'm HIV positive last month) he saw that I actually don't have full OHIP coverage, because my original citizenship is American.

This man suddenly gave me an earfull about the political situation in the US, and the problems of both parties (as if I didn't know), and looked at me and said "I hope you democrats get it right this time!"

And I am NOT embellishing the story.

To the man's credit, he quickly realized how inappropriate he was being, and apologized profusely.

I accepted, and then informed him that I will not be returning.

Sometimes, you just shouldn't go there. Whether you're right or not.

I don't like that term either.... and I don't know why someone would self describe themselves as "wacko."

I typically don't use the vague term "liberal" either because I am philisophically a "classical liberal." In the rest of the world, liberals prefer the markets to run things over the government. If you vote for liberals in Japan, Germany or Australia they will be the ones wanting to privatize the state owned businesses and move their medical system into private hands, not state operated welfare.

Liberal has certainly become a poorly used word in American politics.... same with conservative too, I would add.

Congrats! For taking a stand because it does take a degree of courage to do anything overtly questioning of the current government. They have a habit of targeting those of us who refuse to be silent. Sorry to read some people here don't seem to support your actions. We took all our sites offline on election day and received numerous notes of thanks, but not a single complaint. And you know what? I not only slept better that night, but I felt sooooooo great the next day. Some of the elections were so close (as in less than a thousand votes) that it is not impossible that a few of my site visitors, casting their vote instead of stroking their dick, just might have made a difference.

Out of the 30 or so guys that emailed me with complaints about my comments on the election in my forum and promised to quit/cancel (thus representing a loss of about $500 a month in recurring fees) it is now more than a week later, and only three have done so.

Also, one of those that quit asked if he could re-join today at his original price.

I guess hypocrasy is alive and well.

Thanks for the note of encouragement and support. I suppose I could have been a little more diplomatic in my request for people to vote...but I have never really been like that...more of a partisian guy here...which I guess explains why I got some of my members so pissed. (Or maybe since my site does not have gay sex on it, but rather only male punishment there are more 'straight' republican types that are members...who knows.)

It's amazing to me how many people keep their sexual lives and their public lives so separate. And by "public" I don't just mean in the office or in the media but in their interactions with friends, even their relationships. Guys will get married, have kids, protest against gay rights, yet come home and wank off to pics of guys fucking, or getting spanked or what have you. Or even if they are looking at straight porn sites yet are in support of anti-pornography legislation. They have their "dirty little secret" that they keep tucked away. I guess it adds to the excitement of it. But I have to say that I'm much happier being able to be open about all my interests. Sure I'm not going to visit my parents in a harness and chaps but it's nice to know if my boss ran across one of my online profiles the worst I would get is "You might want to rethink that jockstrap". LOL!

Did you confirm that the emails actually came from real members? Maybe your forum post was quoted and linked on some conservative website.

You know, I never thought of that. I will have to go back and check. Obviously a few of them were real, as I had three cancels.
