Do one page tours really convert?

Come on guys, can't we just stop the drama and agree that both kind of tours will convert if done right?

There is more then one way to achieve the same goal. The thought of a site like Randy Blue switching to 1 page would be ridiculous...and you can't tell me Randy Blue doesn't convert. People look at Randy Blue and know they are going to get quality which is because the tour is dynamic and always showing more content...which is the same style we took when we designed our paysites.

Lee hate to disagree with you on this one, but you are being a bit one sided in your thinking. I am sure some of your Condom Cash sites are converting great, and that's excellent, but I think you are wrong to imply that 1 page tours are the only viable choice here. I agree with Lloyd's comment 100% that it's best to give affiliates the choice, although if just sticking to one pagers works for you then go for it

Frankly I don't think it really should be up to the affiliate. After all it is the CUSTOMER who makes the money for everyone, so if the majority of customers prefer one page or a hundred, that is what you should give them.

I think any will work, depending on the type of site, and the type of traffic it receives. Shit traffic is gonna convert like shit no matter what the tour is. Comparing apples and oranges just never works... unless you making juice :coffee:

I am not sure I follow you. ;) The purpose of this thread was to help me understand whether or not it is a good idea to make alternate one page tours that affiliates can use to promote our sites. We are talking about making money here, if it was up to the surfer they would just want all the content for free...which would be great for them but not so great for business.

dannyz, the truth is that a good one-page tour sells - just like any good tour converts. i have promoted a couple one page byots that converted like crazy. and a good friend of mine has an entire program of ome-page tours.

keep in mind that not all designers understand the one page tour, and not every program owner has the same concept for it in mind. lee's are more minimilist than the ones i promoted - which doesn't make them bad tours.

as long as you keep the tours in the same basic colors as the member area, i don't see how it could hurt to offer more than one tour. the more promo tools you offer affiiates, the better ;)

Im not the one who is saying that *my* way is the only way to do things, it would be amiss of me to say such a thing knowing that there is definately more than 1 way to skin the proverbial cat.

Okay let me see if I can't clarify it for ya.

I think that instead of worrying what the affiliate would prefer to push, you need to find which works best for the customer so you can push that phase to the affiliates, based on realistic market research and not opinion.

Many sites use testing to determine a sites design sale ability, well you'd have to do a similiar test for tours. One page, two etc to see which garners the most sales for you. I mean to think of Sean Cody using a 1 page tour might sound nuts, but what does the research show?

It is fine for Lee and Lloyd to piss in the wind but fact is Lee tests his deisgns and tours out with real traffic and bases his decisions on the results. He'll turf a design if sales drop but keep it if it grows. Same with tours, find which one the SURFER prefers then push that to the affiliated based on your research.

An affiliate will or should know their traffic, and should accept that in case A they will need sites with one or ten page tours in order to maximize their return. So for me, it is about what works for you and your traffic not what works for your affiliates.

For me, text works, my traffic sticks and reads so a one page tour from a sponsor does not convert. Is that because the site sucks or simply my traffic has different variables? I think Bass hit it on the nail.. offer both with a push on what your traffic converts best for, let the affiliate know and then let them do their thing. Many affiliates haven't a clue what their traffic sources are to begin with so you need to know what works. That means research from the horses mouth, the surfer.
