I am going to be changing over to Ccbill processor “to tell the truth I was going to do it before I came up with this thread” I was just trying to get a feel of how much more affiliates like this, after all if I pay a bit more, I will get a program that does not have as good of stats, but could pay out affiliates more in recurring and the flat payment option by about 10%. So I was just trying to see what I would really get for my 10%/750 extra cost.

So I know the answers to this question, but to get back on subject a bit, you really think its worth all the headaches do this ccbill stuff. Are their really enough affiliates that would promote my site to make it worth the money I could just spend on more content. I just hate to think after jumping though all these hoops for them that in the end I would still be in the same place I started.
Personally I am really sick of having to make my own sales, I would really rather move on to spending more of my time taking care of my members. I am just wounding I guess what to expect from a real affiliate program?
I would hazard a guess that with a handful of exceptions, nearly all large, successful programs rely on affiliates for a significant portion of their business, so having a good affiliate program is most definitely worthwhile.
That said, I would also say that any affiliate who's had the opportunity to read your posts will probably not want to send you traffic :) You really don't seem to get how small this business really is, how much your words and actions affect people's impressions of you, and how much your relationships with others in the industry affects your success.
There are a bazillion twink programs out there, and all other things being equal, if an affiliate has a choice of promoting a site run by good, responsive people who provide a quality product and good service to affiliates, or one run by some guy who continually insults/degrades some of the sharpest people in the industry and comes across as an arrogant asshole who ignores sound advice and makes stupid and risky decisions, which one do you think the affiliate will choose?
There are some exceptions, of course... Lee wears the "asshole" badge proudly, and it seems to work for him... but then again, people also know that Lee does actually know what he's doing, and people who understand Lee realize it's all part of his method of doing business, which is quite successful for him. I suspect you won't have the luxury of having anyone make those assumptions about you.
So... perhaps you should just shut up, listen and learn, take the advice that's offered instead of constantly blowing out your asshole. I was serious when I gave you the Lincoln quote last week, obviously you didn't get it.
Just to try one more time, you're flat wrong about the largest programs using their own merchant accounts -- those that do ALSO have CCBill and/or Paycom. And the MINIMUM Visa setup fees for your own high-risk merchant account are $1500-2500/year vs. 750 the first year and $375 the second for Paycom and CCBill. And as Patti said, if you use Netbilling (that or Jettis being the only reasonable options if you're running your own merchant account), their fees plus your discount rate will pretty much be a wash with what Paycom or CCBill charges, so your argument about paying "all this money" to CCBill is simply wrong.
Of course, I'm sure you'll just argue with me again about why you're right. Save your breath.
Ya I get the point about the merchant account man, like I think I said 3 pages ago not sure why you are dwelling on that. It was just that I have seen some programs that have done that is the past, and just said something about it.
And like I said in my 4 post in this thread I am going with Ccbill regardless, at least for now

Well I have waded thru all of this thread and the simple answer for you Sean is that webmasters would prefer in many cases to sign up to a site using ccBill than their own merchant account, out of trust... they at least know they will be paid, will get honest sales instead of totally screwed by the sponsor webmaster.
Same reason for them going with sites using paycom/epoch.
As for your continued bashing, well IF, and that is a big IF, you ever do finally let everyone in on what your site is, the url and the webmaster sign up page, you might find that even IF you do that, even IF you use ccBill that many will simply not bother due to the way you conduct yourself on the boards, no matter which processor you choose.

belami is the only company i know of who wouldn't send several large review sites a password for a review. the reason they gave is they don't want anyone to have access to potentially steal their content.
if those really are belami models, i'd be interested to know whether they are legal.
abostonboy - to catch you up with maxpower, he once had his previous username deleted after webmasters noticed a lot of the content on his tour was stolen content. at that time his member area was 100% plugins and he didn't want to buy content for his tour.

My friend new Don from NYC (use to work for Bel Ami) a long time ago and actually promoted the Bel Ami website via a deal with the marketing manager. This was before they had the affiliate program.
YOU DON'T WANNA MESS WITH THEIR CONTENT! Eventuallt my friend was getting paid just to find sites that used their content and they actually took a few to court.
BUT, they wait like 5 months before they do it so they can prove damages.
