Hey yall... I've never been to a convention... can you guys give me some advice? What should I expect?
Get extremely drunk and sit in your boss's lap while you tell random people to line up and blow you.
:jasun:
"I'm straight" means "Get me another beer and I'll think about it"
Always stand on the right when they take your picture.
Food Fights are Fun.
I think you'll do pretty well at the show, Jeff, despite it being your first. If I'm not mistaken, GayBucks is one of the forum's sponsors and so that will give ya the opportunity to hit up the sponsor dinner Wednesday night (hopefully the Gaybucks crew will be there!) and meet a bunch of people in a chill, easy-going setting. So you'll head in to the rest of the weekend's more hectic parties and networking already having met some folk.
I'm sure Chip and AJ will make sure you meet as many people as possible and have a good, as well as productive, time!
The real rules :
Don't get drunk or use any drugs at your first show. Best to not use at any show, but definitely do not at your first.
It is ok to flirt, but flirting is an art. Don't let anyone make you feel uncomfortable and don't say anything that you don't mean.
If someone gives you a card and you want to contact them after the show, make notes on the back of the card. You will get a lot of cards and you won't remember them all.
Always stay in control! Stick tight to Chip and AJ and you will be fine. They know the drill, they have managed to put up with the smoke and stupidity and over the top "wish I hadn't done what I can't seem to remember" crap that goes on and lived to tell about it!
OK, but my advice was funnier.
Sure, we all have a good time, but we're primarily there to do business.
Don't get laid. Everyone gossips and you want to be remembered for how professional you were.. not how many people you bagged.
remember the image of your company and keep with it.
Remember that everything you do reflects on your comapny and you.
Shake people's hands, remember their names and get people's opinions about where the industry is going. You can learn so much if you want to.
And don't forget to give Jasun a big hug and kiss when you first meet him.
:cheerleader:
Yeah damn... unfortunately I won't be there Wed. night... I'm just coming up for the weekend because I have school, but I can't wait to meet you all! I definitely have never experienced something like this (except maybe Folsom Street Fair, but I'm guessing/hoping this is much less raunchy).
Ahh I remember my first convention. I was so nervous I could barely talk. But I realised pretty quickly that people in this business are very friendly and I loosened up in no time. Every single convention I have been to has been with it. You are with a very good company and great guys running it. You also look very cute so you might want to hire a body guard, hehe.

Hook up with Andy from Just Us Boys, he knows everyone and he's a really nice guy. I would have been lost at conventions without Andy.
Sit down and make a list of some people you'd like to meet, it'll give the show some focus.
Cheers,
Michael
Funny stuff!
No no.. this is NOTHING like Folsom Street Fair.
this is a business convention, not a fetish freakshow. There's no booths selling sex toys or human urinals and no people standing around jacking off. It's not open to the public.
I mean, I love Folsom, but the Phoenix Forum is for business. You'll make business contacts, you'll make a few deals, maybe sign a few people up for your affilliate program, help some people to promote you, get some input on how to make your site better, meet some people form the big sites that can help you out.
There's some crazyness at the parties at night, but for the most part, it's still people standing around and talking business.
I second Chad:
Give Jasun a BIG hug - and another one from me.
Andy is (like Jasun) a very nice guy and a hug from me to him as well, please.
DON'T hug Chad though, he's a lawyer and needs his slashes - hugs are counterproductive here, hehe :D
Is DonMike going as well? Don, are you going?
DEVELISH
Don't forget the "Give Rocky a Lap Dance Marathon"...
You're cute. The rest will follow.
lol Trevor is so right. haha
You guys are making my head swell. The one on top of my shoulders, that is. Well maybe both of them a little bit. :D
Keep the suggestions coming, I want to make this convention the most successful I can for me and for AJ and Chip.
I'm not super shy, but I'm not exactly used to just running up to people and kissing them (or giving lap dances) either.
Any good ideas for starting conversation with people you've never met?
You won't need to.. introductions are easy to come by.
or just walk up to someone and say "Hi I'm _____ from _____"
Hmmmm. Come to my room, and I'll give you some personal pointers. :)
The shows are great. You just have to make yourself available to people. By the way, how much do you charge? Ha. Kidding.
Just go with the flow. You're there for eye candy, to help give your company a "face"... smile a lot, shake hands, flirt a little bit, and be sincere. Everyone's gonna like you (you come from a site with a good pedigree), so don't worry so much about sweating the small stuff.
Everyone is pretty laid-back at these things. It's essentially a big ol' excuse for us to get together and justify several days of drinking and partying as "business" -- and the cool part is, it IS business. In this industry, partying is business. Gotta love the porn industry!
Haha I'm really flattered yall... but I'm taken haha... I have a boyfriend... which seems kind of ironic I know considering I have sex with random guys for money hahahaha... but yeah my boyfriend also works for Chip and AJ (which is how I got into this business haha!) Sorry our content isn't out yet, but hopefully it will be soon! Anyways our my boyfriend, Matthew Evans, is on "Sticky Situations"... you can check that out...:bunnypancake:
Haha I'm loving the plays on words here... will I too become a master at that after a few years in the pron industry? Haha I can't wait. So yeah I am bogged down with homework these days... uggggggg
ooo italians... haha
