If I wasn't leading the parade on my motorcycle, I'd be one of the many people planning to throw rotten tomatoes and water baloons filled with foul smelling gunge at Paris Hilton as she Grand Marshalls it. What the fuck does a spoiled stupid slut have to do with gay pride?

Well, we haven't had a celebrity for celebrity's sake since the 70's. But at least then they had personality. I mean, what else would Barbie Benton, Lola Falana, Brett Sommers and Rip Taylor do? But at least they were fun to watch. Paris is just vapid and dumb but she's not even fun dumb. But a friend of mine is convinced it's an act and one day she's going to come out and say the whole stupid thing was a big joke and that she's put one over on the world.
I dunno. I'm not really that bitter towards her. I just posted this to entertain Jasun because he hates her so much.

Getting back to the original point, I don't see one tiny hint of correlation between the GLBT community and the Hilton's. I mean, can you imagine someone in some pride meeting bringing her name up. What in the world did they base their decision on ?

Usually Pride committees pick celebrity grand marshalls that have been involved for years, decades or lifetimes working for glbt causes.
I like Paris. She's got the brains enough to marry a billionaire. She's not going to get her fortune until her mom is gone and her mom is young. So hats' off to her for using her celebrity and social status to snag a greek billionaire. Not bad.
She's just a kid with alot of time and money to burn and no one to have to answer to. I think most people would act the same way.

At a time where glbt causes are finally getting attention they deserve, a time when corporations are reviewing their rights and protections, a time where states are contemplating gay marriage issues, a time when alot of straight people are noticing that gay issues involve basic human rights... in this extremely important time for gay rights and issues, who does L.A. pride pick to represent their community ?

Scott defended the organization's decision to honor the Hiltons.
"Kathy and Paris were brought forward by members of our community," he said. "Here's a mother and daughter that want to lend their voice to issues — like gay marriage, adoption and hate crimes — that face our community."
He added: "Their response was very enthusiastic — and appropriately stunned that they would be included."
A spokesman said Paris Hilton, who lives in West Hollywood, was flying in from Miami for the parade.
"She has an enormous number of gay and lesbian friends and is very supportive," said the publicist, Rob Shuter. "She's excited to do it. Paris believes in equality for everybody."
