I hate to say it, but there's enough idiots in this country that would elect him again. I could stomach the first term. This second term sucks bigtime. I wouldn't stay for the third.
Just which part of history class did those idiots miss where it tells about all the lives lost and wars fought to wrestle this nation AWAY from a monarchy????????
Why shouldn't the people be allowed to elect the best man for the job ?
- if they're convinced this moron IS the best, why settle for less ?
This has NOTHING to do with monarchy - Monarchs are born rulers.
Interesting -- The author of that is Rep Steny Hoyer --- who is the second ranking Democrat House leader.Quote:

As soon as he died, legislators who felt that his length in office brought him too much executive power put the wheels in motion on the twenty second amendment. And got the 2/3's needed in the Senate easily enough because FDR has angered most of them over the past fourteen years from his ploy to pack the Supreme Court.
Roosevelt's successor, Harry Truman, barely won election in 1948, and by the fifties the country was ready to drop the Democrat's New Deal ideas of the 1930s by overwhelmingly electing Republican Dwight D Eisenhower to two consecutive terms.

Yes... I can see the problem in THE PEOPLE keeping electing som likable fellow, even if he's no good - like Reagan - He'd been elected, alzheimer or not...
Guess you'll just have to take some of the powers away from the White House
- like declaring war in a fit of rage...
Presidential polls have shown that Bush is not doing his job as the majority of Americans see it ( excluding Fox polls of course.. for som odd reason they don't coincide with any other national reports )
Low polls coupled with the Downing Street memo pretty much assure that even IF he was allowed to be re-elected... he wouldn't. He's evil

You forget how sneaky those republicans are, Bill may win the popular vote but we all know how gullible most Americans are. Polls don't mean shit. Allowing George (or even Jeb) another chance equals a monarchy, that is not what the country was meant to be founded on.Quote:

this is insane...oh well, the american people get what they vote for!
cheers,
Luke
It could work both ways.
The fact of the matter is that Bill Clinton would still be president today if he could have continued to run.
He was the first president since Nixon (and Eisenhower before him) to win based solely on his own merits and not just a likability factor.
As soon as one of those types of people steps up, it's a slam dunk presidential win.

Luke, being an Ozzie I bet you're completely satisfied with Prime Minister Howard eh? After all .. the Australian people voted for him LOL What a jokeQuote:

Here is a great article explaining how the last elections were rigged by Bush
I think that the Democratic party know's Hillary will kick but so they wont put anyone else up against her.. and they will put everything they have into her. A think a BIG lesson has been learned from Bush. I also strongly feel that a president who's willing to lie to the people to make a war for oil, is completely capable of fixing votes this last election.. and if he has his way.. Jeb will come up next election and he will mysteriously win as well, but that wont happen, because Bush wont have his way :thumbsup:Quote:

Think of it this way --- you know those people who in the Clinton years groaned on and on about his illigitimate Presidentcy, Whitewater, shady financial deals and Monica Lewensky? Go look in the mirror - have you all now become just like those lovely people?
You know, people elect politicians I do not particularly like all the time. I don't conjure up vast conspiracies and poo-poo the overall intelligence of "the electorate."
Drifting over to the new 2257 rules: You know, I do not think it is a mischaracterization for me to recall that Janet Reno was not exactly generous with the adult industry either. It doesn't matter who is in office.
Our sites are simply controverial subjects, and this is a risky business. You just have to stand up to it, stop acting like a victim, and show why we are ultimately right in our case.
I'm glad to see the industry doing that. Now let's try and have a little faith for now.
Steve
I voted democrat but I don't share alot in common with either party. Hillary Clinton just worked with Brownback on some legislation. That can't be seen as a good sign.
Old school democrats and republicans just can't seem to find it within themselves to support gay marriage or anything that puts gays and lesbians on equal footing.
I like the new breed democrats, like the mayor in that small New York town or Gavin Newsome, some guys that have to balls to go to bat for causes regardless of the political fallout. At least there's some hope on the horizon.
If Hillary runs, she will not win regardless of who she runs against. Don't get me wrong, I love Hillary. But do you think that people in the south will ever vote for any woman to be president?
Hey Xtr8guy,
I doubt the dems will spend a penny on the South anytime soon. It will go to the Ohio's, Minnesota's and toss up states. Maybe florida will get some interest but I don't see them going after it this time around.
This is from Bush vs. ClintonQuote:

They voted for Bill, and Hillary is the closet thing to him.
Many people will actually view a Hillary presidency as a 3rd and 4th term for Bill.
You know, a wise woman in my country once said - everything is in cycles and nothing lasts forever the bad guys fall, it doesn't happen when YOU want it so be patient.
And so there's only so much of the GOP people will handle.
THe more they have power and fuck things up, the better it looks for the other guys.
The GOP dudes are gona fall, all bad things they've done would come out eventually and it will trip them.
It's just a matter of when
