on the move

I am officially on the move, the house sale closed today and I am hotelling it till we leave on Saturday. Then its 3 days in Hawaii before we are off to our final destination in Panama City, Rep of Panama.

My time online will be a bit limited. To all those that host with chilihost, please don't worry about your servers, I have not only arranged for a professional management and monitoring services company to cover off the entire period, but I also have my part time guy working full time plus on-call until I get settled again. And if you need me please email me as I can pick up emails on my mobile phone/pda.

I will drop in whenever possible to say hi!

Oh my god! Panama? What made you decide to leave Australia and move to Panama? Other than the Panama Canal and that old Van Halen song, I know absolutely nothing about Panama.

Thanks guys, I have packed a few packets of tim tams and some cadbury blocks but could not manage to fit that many surfie boys into my bags ;)
And I am staying away from the roo nuts, LOL!

Jim, we decided on Panama for a few reasons. First off, it has an awesome technology infrastructure. About 5 years ago they outsourced their telecommunications to Cable&Wireless who ripped out everything and replaced it with new equipment. I can get over 100kbps browsing speeds on my phone/pda. Wireless & big-pipe broadband is everywhere and its all totally cheap too. This makes it extremely easy to move to without any business issues at all.

Second point is that it is a beautiful country with a chaotic mix of latino culture, USA military stability and security (for the canal) and natural rainforest beauty. Thirdly is that its very affordable to live. I will finally afford to have a maid and maybe even a pool boy too :D

Australia is a fantastic country but there is a whole world out there to discover, and since we have the luxury of being able to live anywhere in the world, why wouldn't ya?

Enjoy the trip getting there...my boyfriend and I love Panama and have been to Panama City several times shooting material for my sites! There are several great gay clubs there but I am sure you know that already since you surely have been there prior to deciding to relocate! Not sure when our next trip there will be since we have only just moved from Miami to West Hollywood (so panama is no longer just a 3 hour flight away) BUT we will have to meet up for some drinks (finally face to face).

My boyfriend recently returned to the US after a year in Brazil and we loved it! Every day is an adventure when you relocate like that! I am rain forest junky and we have been all over Central and South America specifically to explore the rain forests so enjoy the ones in Panama!!

I am a bit jet lagged but I survived the trip and am all setup in my new rental unit in Panama City. We landed yesterday and I managed to get out for a quick grocery shop before calling it an early night. It was nice to pay only $83 for what would have cost me well over $200 in Australia, plus it was nice to have a cute latino boy carry all my bags to the taxi too :)

Today I head to the electronics superstore, this should be a fun one!

Jim, I was disappointed that we did not meet up in Hawaii. We had a great time meeting and chatting with your partner. Now you guys have to come visit us!
