Help Compile A List Of Free Applications No Webmaster Should Be Without

I wanted to get a list of programs put together that we can reference new GWW Community members to when they are looking for something specific such as a spyware removal application, .zip archiver, graphics program, etc etc.

With that being said, if you have any links to applications that could help our other community members that are free or, have a free trial, please list them in this thread.

This Ad-Aware program is free and is similar to SpyBot Search&Destroy yet catches some spyware that SpyBot doesn't catch. Better to have 2 programs to use rather than getting spied on.

Hope its not out of line to post it, but these guys offer free help in getting your computer clean when you get a really nasty trojan or virus. I have had to use them and it saved me big bucks as they helped get the job done instead of having to pay a techie to do it. They take you step by step through the whole process.

Also to any fellow canadians who use Shaw Cable. (I think Rogers Cable also has it, but can't be positive about that) Is to get their free firewall & spyware system. Its called F-Secure and includes the PRO version of Adaware.

Dreamweaver > this is a must editor least for me. It is one of the few high end products that in my opinion was truly worth the price.

I would also recommend something else that is a must have I think. We all have sites hosted somewhere, but do we really know how many times our sites could be down? offline?

There is a free service, requires a link back only, that sends you emails when your site is down & another when its up. I believe you can have the emails forwarded to cell phones text messaging but don't quote me on that either.

Okay, this isn't software but it is the most usefull website I know if you do international business.


The World Time Server

It will tell you what time it is in any part of the world at any time. There is a bit of freeware on the site that will Sync your computer's clock with the Atomic Clock so it will never be even a fraction of a second off, if you so desire, so it sort of fits on this thread. Heh heh. :)

Hey Lee,

You should find a place to post these things in a permanent place on your site, like an advice section for new webmasters, as well as in threads. A lot of this stuff is invaluable, so it would be great to have access to it one specified section for quick and easy reference.
