Seeking Sites to Review

Hey there, folks,

We've begun a new section in AVN Online called "Guilty Pleasures," in which each member of our editorial staff picks a site and reviews it for the magazine. I'm finding, however, that my knowledge of the gay webmaster industry is still rather limited. I know tons about brick-and-mortar gay porn, but am still learning the ropes of the Internet side of things. There are just so many sites out there, it's nearly impossible to keep track of them all.

I've already written about and/or featured a bunch of sites and webmasters in recent issues, so I'd like to try and tackle some sites that I'm not as familiar with in order to spread the wealth around, as it were. So if you know of any deserving sites, or if you would like to nominate yourself, please drop me a line at kenknox@avnonline.com. I'm obviously learning a lot from you folks here, but any suggestions you could provide would be extremely invaluable.

The site should be a pay site with an affiliate program, and ideally would be relatively new to the industry. And there should be something relatively unique or special about them. The following is a list of sites that I have recently covered. These sites would not be eligible for review.

Actually, I did a huge profile on RandyBlue.com. It was like five or six months ago. I guess it could be time to check them out again. But they've been around for a while now, right?

How about my site MiamiBoyz.com? We have been online since 1999 and feature Latino twinks. The site has grown over the years and has expanded all the time with new features and has expanded our models to include Latinos in the USA (Miami and L.A.) and also Central and South America.

We would be honored for you to write about us. LiveTwinksCam was started when webcam sites first began. We started when DudeDorm and CBL started out, there wasn't many of us then. We have been around since 2000 and have entertained many of our clients, clients for years.

I should clarify a few points here:

We have two new sections in AVN Online: one called "On the Rise," in which we write short features (about 250 words) on either new websites (less than a year old) or websites that have recently undergone a major transformation and/or total relaunch. These are like mini-profiles. Just a way to single out a cool site and webmaster for some coverage.

The "Guilty Pleasure" section is a review section (150 words). These sites don't have to be new, but I prefer to review sites that are special and unique in content, or that at least take a fresh approach to an old genre or they've mastered it in such a way that it seems fresh.

Feature stories and/or profiles in the magazine are usually reserved for sites that are doing something pretty big and bold, like a major site revamp or launching some kind of really unique program or something (or, of course, taking out a full-page ad in AVN Online. LOL!).

Site birthdays are also a good way to get some easy, FREE coverage on the AVNOnline.com site. If your site is turning 5 or 6 or 9 or 12, drop me a line and I can probably write something up on your site.

I also do my regular "School of Hard Knox" columns in which I interview porn stars and webmasters who are doing fun things. As you know, I recently spoke with both Jake Crusie and Josh Tucker. I'm going to be doing Dart (from BearBound.com) and Andy Dill about his obsessions with red heads in the coming weeks. These interviews are also usually reserved for those doing something new or edgy or launching a new site.

Obviously, I am here at AVN Online to write about you guys, so I'm always looking for avenues in which to get your sites into the magazine or onto the site. Occasionally I do features like my upcoming straight-guy niche feature, in which seven webmasters from straight-guy niche sites all go on record about why they love their niche, and a few others go on record why they don't like it. That's another way to get some of you guys into the mag, but those stories are more few and far between.

It was around for a short while before that but a teeny tiny lil operation. On Dec 1 2004 it was relaunched under new ownership, the interior totally redone, new servers, new host, new update schedule, new new new!
