But if you're running a program, and dealing with webmasters all day, and working on maintaining the site and keeping your members happy, who has the time for dealing with models and shooting? Shooting content is an art, are you going to devote your life like I have to creating something people love? One thing I've learned over the years, is that everyone with a 1ds MII isn't created equal. lol
It's very attractive for a program owner to never have to deal with the bullshit that goes along with shooting, recruiting, advertising, location scouting, etc. That's an 80+ hour work week right there. I'm answering emails and on the phone from 10am to 2am 4 days a week. I take care of all of that for you. I charge enough to make it worth my while, and to pay the models enough to actually come through reliably. Also, I charge enough to make sure I'm here next month, etc.
I think you'll notice from that list, a lot of those people who aren't around anymore tried to get by charging bargain basement prices. Where are they now? And who will their clients end up buying from now? :)
Also, most photographers out there shoot garbage. I've worked for years, and years, and years to educate myself in photography. Photographic style is something that takes years to develop, and isn't something you can simply buy.
Buying from the cheapest photographer on the block isn't a smart move. If you're paying $800 for 12 sets of content, I can almost guarantee it won't be anywhere near the quality that I provide. And it won't have the same impact on your surfers, either.
