DANG!!!!
somebody ring the bells at their house
Not the way to make people aware of what is happening, but I still wish they hacked cnn.com or bbcnews.com
I'm surprised they haven't restored it yet, or at least put up a redirect to another of their sites...
Maybe they like the new design
Anyone else find their choice of sites to hack a little odd? Perhpaps the guy that did it just needed an excuse to be looking at it when some of his friends came in the room unexpectantly.
"Oh shit! I was not looking at that site. I was hacking it for Allah!"
:fucked:
Turkish men are so hot :x
Did I mention - during our marathon calls - that my mom lives in turkey and I visit her later this year?
Some will meet her I bet in Angeles :D
wow this site is still showing as hacked???
Knowing Curious Tim, I wouldn't completely rule out some clever PR... not that he planned it, but perhaps making lemonade from lemons. After all, we are all talking about the site!
That or the server is trashed and he's having to rebuild on a different box from backups.
Actually, I know of several -- they just haven't posted that it happened. I wouldn't of mentioned the CC site if it had been addressed right away.
One thing I WILL mention - is that there are a LOT of newer guys putting up paysites and NOT installing security software before opening the door. Some weren't aware they "needed it" and others say they can't afford it yet.
Whether it's password trading, Denial of Service attacks, someone wanting to setup phishng sites, or a 3rd world country trying to get attention ... you're asking for trouble if you don't install security software and/or if you don't keep your scripts upgraded. This applies regardless if it's a paysite or not.
We're seeing a lot of hacking happening on sites that use opensource or phpnuke type scripts. They make it easy to put up a dynamic site quickly, but are also at risk for hacking if you don't upgrade as needed.
It's also easy to "forget" to check back every now and then for any security updates. I know for myself I've "unchecked" the box to receive future information ... and after this weekend you can bet I wont make that mistake again.
I have a client that got hacked on 2 different sites within a matter of minutes. While I wasn't the one that originally built them, or had anything to do with the various old php scripts lying around on his server, Luke and I were the ones that had to go in and vaporize the mess and rebuild them.
If you're paying to have sites built for you, LEARN how to backup and download a copy of your sites! KNOW what scripts are being used and what version was used and keep track of your login information for the admin panels! Even if it's a simple index card system ... jot down that info, plus the url of what site the script came from. Make a habit of checking the site for security updates, and signup for their newsletter if they have one.
Another biggie a lot of people forget to do - is to DELETE the install files once they've added certain scripts. Be sure to read ALL of the instructions, and if they tell you to delete those files once you're sure it's installed, do it!
And if you didn't read Lukes hacker buggers thread - I'll also repeat that you should NOT use a folder on your website that is the SAME NAME as the script. Give the folder a different name. Change your config file to reflect the name change. This slows down the search using an SE to find sites with certain scripts in use. And by default, almost every script I've ever downloaded is inside a folder named after the script and they say to just send it on up. NOT a good idea!
Ironic they talk about how we are sinners because we are sitting at home making money from porn while they are dying ... especially when the cause of their dying is their religion.
Maybe they should find better ways to make peace then hacking porn sites? Or maybe they just felt guilty after they finished with their :jerkoff:
peace out,
DannyZ
You are so right, it is disgusting. Maybe if they were getting laid more often and not forcing their women to be covered from head to foot, they'd have less aggression and not have to blow things (including themselves) up. Not that I think the right wing christians are any better. Funny how these so called 'moralists' are actually the cause of most of the suffering in the world.Quote:
Cant they find something else to hack? As far as I care, they can fuck off. They really piss me off.. Fair enough if they had been trying to tell us about how people are suffering. But no, it never is. These bastards use images of suffering and dying people as a part of their propaganda. They dont care, they use the images to forward their own cause.
Without hijacking this thread I want to say that I echo your sentiments DannyZ and Gaydemon.
We all live outside the U.S. and I think we all have unique perspectives on how things have changed over the last few years.
Australia has promoted itself as a prime vacationing spot for those in the middle east the last few years. The result has been a large influx of middle eastern immigrants, muslim ones. They have started suing the schools to allow their head dress as a right of freedom of religious speech. Yet goto a muslim country and wear a skirt, or shorts, and see how your freedom of speech is impeded upon.
Here the Muslims go out in force on certain days to the shopping centers to make their presence known. So you can goto the mall and see groups of people dressed in mostly all black and the women covered head to toe. It's very ominous. They are never buying anything, no shopping bags in hand. They are just there, walking around in many groups of 8-12 or more, making their presence known.
At the end of the day, no matter how nice Muslims, and Christians, pretend to be, this is a cultural, as well as a religious, war. Make no mistake it's going to get even worse in the future. :scared:
I know what you mean Squirt. Here in Asia they do the same thing...go to the shopping malls dressed in black from head to foot, with only their beady little eyes peering through...and come to think of it I don't ever remember seeing them with any bags in hand or doing any actual shopping. They are scary IMHO.
We also get the christian freaks that stand in the middle of the street screaming how everyone's going to burn in hell if they don't start reading the bible...this is especially rude considering how the local culture here is very gentle and is very offended by yelling of this sort.
It's sad and unfortunate these freaks have so much power in the world.
Even more strange is no public response from the guys at CuriousCash for all these days. How odd not to hear anything from them all this time while their affiliates, and others, voiced concern over most all boards, and email, about sites they're promoting being hacked. Good to see it's back up and running. I hope everything is ok with them.
