Stereotypes that make me see red

I was just perusing another forum (mainstream) and came across these threads which made me see red. I didn't respond as I don't want to get into it with the rednecks.

I have a good friend whose kid is a little "different" - and always has been. He's very effeminate and likes "girly" stuff. Apparently, he has been caught downloading gay porn (lost his internet access for that), and most recently has "come out of the closet" to his mom. His mom and step father are fine role models, and I believe someone of that age doesn't know enough about sex and relationships to make the choice to be gay. I am guessing he is one of those transgender types - He's really a girl in a boys body. What do you all think? Can a kid that young be gay?"


"Despite what the ultra-liberals and those in denial would have you believe, people are not born gay. This has to be one of the biggest lies going around today. There is absolutely no evidence that people are 'born gay' that I'm aware of that wasn't either researched or funded by those that wanted the research to conclude as such. People are conceived with either an XY or XX chromosome - sex is determined at this point, so there is no "didn't completely transform into a boy" thing going on. How would you explain the lesbians then? For those that think that homosexuality is not a choice: Are you telling me that the butthole was designed for a ***** to penetrate it? I know that this is a pretty gross thought for most of us, but it is what it is. What about procreation? Do you think that the survival of our species is supported by a sexual act that in no way will lead to conception? This whole 'born gay' thing is just an another example of our society's movement away from accountability and responsibility for one's actions and ultimately, choice, freedom, and truth. How many times have we heard of people who got into trouble of some sort claiming that their behavior was caused by someone else or something that happened to them in the past? How about the lady that spilt McDonalds coffee on herself and was awarded millions because the cup did not say 'caution - hot contents'? A society cannot survive if nothing is ever our own responsibility. There is no purpose, everything is just a consequence of chance. Contrary to this belief, there is purpose in our lives, our choices do affect others, and we are responsible for those choices. What the ultra liberals would have you believe is that anything goes, that you can do whatever 'makes you happiest', whatever 'feels good', and if there are any consequences to these choices, 'it's not your fault'. The truth is, we are all born with a propensity toward one fault or another, but we still have the choice of whether to give into it or not. What I find scary is that those pushing the homosexual agenda are attemping and succeeding at tying homosexuality with race. Basically, 'society was wrong about race, it is also wrong about homosexuality, and if you oppose our attempt to forward the cause of getting people to accept homosexuality as normal, then you are a biggot.'

So what happened to the kid? It is said that the boy has a mother and stepfather who 'are good role models.' Good role models in what sense? Good role models in that Dad brings home the check? Obviously, if the kid has a step-dad, he witnessed the divorce or his biological parents, or he never had a dad until his step father married his mom. There may be some trust and acceptance issues going on. Maybe deep down inside, the boy blamed himself and this lead to a thought that something 'wasn't right' with him. Somewhere along the line, perhaps quite early, the boy found some sort of acceptance in identifying himself with those practicing homosexuality, and he wasn't getting that acceptance anywhere else, so he pursued the lifestyle. We all make choices based on our beliefs, whether those beliefs be true or not. If those beliefs are not true, then we fall into a trap. It takes the truth to pull us out of these traps. The truth that we are all loved and accepted, whether we know it or not. The truth that there is forgiveness for our mistakes. You never here about it, but many have left the homosexual lifestyle and have chosen to live normal heterosexual lifestyles. If they were 'wired' as a homosexual, then there is no way that any would do this. However, many have even gone on to marry someone of the opposite sex and are living fulfilling lives. Do they have temptation? - yes. But so does a former drug addict who overcomes his addiction. The truth is, he doesn't HAVE TO do drugs; neither does this kid HAVE TO practice homosexuality. He needs to know that he is loved and accepted, exactly as he was created- which is not as a homosexual."

until the day when humans are "isolated" and "observed" from birth to adult the question of "sexual-preference" will always be assumed as something learned/taught like "walking"
this type of mentality does "wear" on me but then everyone is entitled to their opinions and they should have the same right to speak as you do to answer.
you would have thought that this kind of thinking would have died out with VHS tapes but as always ignorance is still among us and we must help enlighten those that are still trapped in the dark (sometimes you have to put that torch under their a**!)

The truth is that straight people just don't get it. And that's partly because a lot of gay people say they didn't even realize they were gay until they were in their early 20s sometimes. People have a hard time believing that kids can be sexual at all, much less homosexual. The best thing to do is just keep your cool and set them, er, straight with a calmly worded post that gives them the facts.

I was checking out other boys' asses when I was just 5 years old. I knew what I wanted at a VERY early age, so there's no doubt in my mind at all that I was born gay.

There was a study done in recent history that showed a guys chances of being gay increases with each older brother he has.

One theory is that because male hormones are not natural to a woman's body, she attacks them greater with each male pregnancy. If successful, it results in the "gay gene".

ummm...but what if your the older brother? :) , i'm not to fond of that idea , my theory is that i am j*ssica simpson trapped in a man's body which would explain why the woman that looks like me couldn't hold on to nick.
i've learned to live with what god gave me and am trying to make the best of what i have , just wish i could get guys to open doors and pull chairs out for me once in awhile. :fool:

There is a real good site out there that explains to straight people what it is to be Gay. It breaks the stereotypes straight people have and gives them a deeper understanding of what we're all about. Almost all debates over homosexuality boil down to the following:

Whether the person believes that it is a choice like vegetarianism, or a genetic trait, like left handedness.

That kernel germinates in everything from Justice Scalia's Supreme Court opinion in Lawrence v. Texas, to religious conservatives' speeches.... On the flip side, watch where those who have little problem with homosexuality speak from, they are assuming you are born gay.

Ok, well everyone has wrong opinons on things... things that to others seem self evident. (For example, there will always be some anti semites, I would guess)

If you meet people who don't understand homosexuality, then just be yourself.

And the best thing anyone can do is come out. It's not about contributing to an unending, pointless debate, like the existence of God. It's just being honest. And that's the most pursuasive, effective tool to melt misconceptions forever.

It is a shame when beliefs sustain ignorance and block knowledge. But history shows that knowledge does win eventually. Thank god, or someone might conjure the idea to sacrifice us to prevent volcanic eruptions. Speaking of eruptions, I feel saddened when straight men write about how unnatural it is to penetrate a butthole. Do they not know that other straight men have sex with women that way? And what about the guys who drink beer instead of Apple-tini's, who can change our own oil, can't dance and hate Will & Grace or AbFab? What about us? What if I walk and talk perfectly normal? I hate labels. Just because I like testosterone does not make me a sterotype.

Sexual desire is like having different tastes for food. You cannot help what you want to eat, and everybody likes something different. I was raised to like broccoli, but to this day I fucking hate it.

I was also raised to like girls... but I don't have a desire for them. I will have my bread with sausage instead of albacore until the day I die.

I would like to see his/her citation on that point. Obviously there isn't any citation, because everyone except the loser Christian zealots know that the evidence is overwhelming that there are genetic underpinnings to homosexuality.

I just love it when people distort facts to support a belief system and then try to claim that they're making a detached, factual argument.

Rocky, I hear what you're saying, but the problem I see with a post like yours above is that you are essentially stereotyping certain kinds of gays just as much as our oppressors are. My personal opinion is that there are ALL kinds of gay men, and that it's up to ALL of us to accept and embrace all the colors of the rainbow in our community. I know LOTS of people who watched WIll & Grace and Ab Fab, none of whom were gay. I know lots of people who drink appletinis who don't suck cock.

I really think it's time for everyone in our community to loosen up and quit SEPERATING ourselves from each other. The thing that comes across every time some allegedly "manly" gay man says things like "I don't listen to Judy Garland or Barbra Streisand" is that based on such a statement, I feel that I am to surmise that there must be something *wrong* with those who do. News flash: There's nothing "gay" at all about liking Judy or Barbra or Madonna or Bette or showtunes or Broadway. In fact, let's not forget that many of the greatest Broadway shows were, in fact, created by straight men, and many of the songs performed by these so-called "gay divas" were, yes, written by straight men as well.

This notion that anything that gay people tend to like should be dismissed is absurd. Judy Garland was a PHENOMENAL entertainer. I don't like Judy or Madonna because I'm gay; I like them because they're TALENTED and they make good entertainment. Ditto Ab Fab. It's damn funny. Who cares if a bunch of other gay men like it? I like it because *I* like it. Nor am I going to feel like less of a man because I went to see Madonna's last tour three times. If people think I'm more "gay" because I did, that's their problem. I think it just makes me a guy with good taste.

Please don't take this personally -- I'm not saying you are a gay-hater or anything, nor am I pinpointing you specifically in this post. I'm speaking of a broader issue at large that is really affecting our community and putting a wall down the middle. I just wish that so many so-called "masculine" gay men would get over themselves already and quit trying to distance themselves from their community. "Gay" means a thousand different things in today's world. News flash: Most of the rest of the world knows this by now. Gay men get IT. That's why we generally like good things like AbFab, ABBA, Barbra, Bette and Bravo (read that out loud... it's fun). Btw, I wonder how many straight men can spell Barbra's first name correctly ;)

I'm not saying that I'm a big fan of everything in the above list. But I can understand why some gay men love the stuff.

My question to you is: How can you be a STEREOTYPE if that's who you really are as a person?

To me, stereotypes are things that are created by society and that we either buy into or we don't. I just think it would be cool if we could see each other as people first, regardless of how we act or define ourselves. I think it would make for a much healthier community, and especially it would help with how we perceive ourselves. If we're not spending so much time pointing out how different we are from each other, we can just relax and enjoy life instead of always having something to prove.

Sounds cool to me.

I for one will be glad when people will stop applying STs to gay-paysite operators that are straight, or those that have decided to create their own stats engine and such (yah I know- everybody should jump onboard with the honest pros, like iBill, etelegate, nexxus xi & so on).

I am not going to hold my breath because I understand that many bash 'X', yet they do/use 'X'.
