The Lifespan Of A Model?

So ive been looking around various programs for the last few days that offer exclusive content, which all appears to be shot by the same producer based on the amount of repeat models i keep seeing in sets and it got me thinking..

Lets say one producer has 10 models on their books, now lets say that same producer gets to do shoots for 2 or 3 of the large programs that literally just 'push' new sites out the door as quickly as possible with custom shoots featuring the same models.

What do you folks think the lifespan of that model will be in terms of 'exclusivity' to content?

I kind of feel that after the first 3 or 4 different types of niche the models have done shoots for, their 'exclusivity' wears of, and it just becomes the same model, topping, bottoming, cum-swapping, hitch-hiking, etc etc etc.

Do you think that models have a shelf-life when it comes to the amount of content they actually appear in with surfers? If so, at what point should programs dealing with exclusive shoots start asking for newer models to do their shoots?

I think if the site is gimmicky (hitchiker, bait, etc.) the lifespan of the model is very short on those particular sites. He can't continue to be a first-timer forever. ;)

If the model is used on more straight-forward sites, the model can essentially become a featured surfer favorite... even a star. A good example of this is a model is a Canadian model named Marco. He has appeared on several TopBucks, SicCash, etc. reality sites but he is definitely a surfer favorite as they want to see more of him.

When I look at porn, I usually get hooked on one particualr model. If I see a site with that model on it, I'll subscribe, look at everything that has that model in it, then leave and look for the next site with that model. Maybe I'm OCD, but I think a good model can only help your website if he's on other sites as well.

I think it depends on a lot of factors.

We'll use a model as many times as our members want to see him, but as soon as he shoots for another company, he's done with Fratmen for good.

We've used a couple guys as many as five times, and both of them have done countless lives shows to boot.

We'd not hesitate to use either one of them again, since both are quite popular with the members and they do great shoots.

But yeah, once they've worked for someone else, they're not Exclusive to Fratmen anymore, and we stop using them.

That is the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

I've given you guys models I've shot, then you shot them, then I shot them again, then you wanted to shoot them again, as early as just a couple weeks ago :cheekymonkey:


And on topic for this thread.. I've seen sites with models reshot every couple years. Kind of cool to watch their progression. A models lifetime in porn is limitless unless they oversaturate themselves with every tom dick and harry site.

Unless there's been a 100% change in direction of which I was unaware in the last 6 days, we'll still not work with guys who are working on other sites.

YES, there are a few older models on Fratmen that have worked with other sites and even a few that we'd consider working with again so long as they're not showing up on many many many sites while we're still with them, we've also had plenty go work for other sites and not been welcomed back.

We'll also be VERY unlikely to shoot a model who's been on another site before.

agreed! , the lifespan of a model is "limitless" , the answer to the question is when you set "limits" on a model. (restrict them to model only for your company/site/etc.)
my models are my children and i only want the best for them , if i feel they would do better with a more established company/photographer/etc. i refer them. (interpreted: it's enough for me for the world to recognize what i've seen all along!)
in regards to "over-exposure" there are only so many ways 1 photographer can shoot a model , so a model being photographed by another photographer/studio/etc. may appear different regardless of how many photosets are in circulation already. (interpreted: some of you may want to free-up your models because your photography sucks and before the model is completely useless even for the rest of us.)
if you are a model reading this i am always in the market for models regardless of how many companies you have worked for! (interpreted: ..."no one is too rich as to throw away a perfectly good model!"...)

I think that a model's lifespan is largely dependent on his ability to contnuously reinvent his image and character to the audience. I think a perfect example of a high demand model that has done this is Jason Ridge.

Even with the large number of films that he has performed in, he is still working strong and in high demand. :-)

Interesting thread. Since I just started producing content and put my website up, I have been toying around with different types of models. I have used some total newbies, some of whom i think are good, but have also used guys who have already done a few sites. I am using "Kurt" right now and even though he has been popular on a couple sites, glad to be working with him because I think he is good.

I'm not sure however, which direction we will be going in, waiting to see what sells and what doesn't. For now I like the mix of "been around the block" and newbies.

The thing to remember is that every day there are tons of adults getting online for the first time (or people turning legal age to view adult sites) and even models who have been around will seem "new" to them. Even if the content you are using is a bit dated, marketing it as "retro" can still squeeze some life out of it. So the life of a model can go on and on. But Chad is right, if you are a Twink today, you're not gonna be a twink tomorrow, so have a plan. Do you think Madonna would still be hot if she were still wearing the wedding dress, plastic bangles and scarves in her hair? No, she's gone through many stages. That's the way to do it.

If you need to know the shelf-life of a model, simply bend him over and check the Seal of Freshness stamped on his ass.

I absolutely agree that a model can "reinvent" himself, keeping existing fans and attracting new ones. AJ and I enjoy working with many of our models and seeing how they change and grow over time. Kelly Taylor is a good example of this, he did about 16 shoots with 18 West / Boyfunk over the 2-1/2 years he worked with us and was constantly reinventing his look.

He went from fairly skinny, young looking twink to a more muscled "college guy" look with a number of different hairstyles and clothing styles, and his fans seemed to really enjoy seeing his metamorphosis.

We have a number of other models who have also been with us for several years now... Skyler is in cosmetology school, so his hair is always different, and here's one of the recent stills of Jesse that we shot while he was here in December:

We've also found that by taking the approach of carefully and thoughtfully releasing content of even our most popular models over a longer period of time (year or two) rather than shitting a ton of content out very quickly, the demand for the model actually grows over time and people don't grow tired of him.

That's one of the reasons we always talk to models about their goals in the industry... if they just want to make a bunch of cash and get out quickly, then doing a lot of work for a bunch of studios can definitely pay off, but at the cost of rapid burnout of that model's popularity. The models who are in it for the longer term and are wise about it are usually best choosing a couple of studios or sites to work with and cultivating a relationship with them that doesn't involve pumping a ton of content out at once.

It surprises me that many other site owners, when I speak with them about this sort of thing, act like it's a revolutionary idea, because to me it's just common sense.

I sTarted modeling at 19 while in the navy. a year later, my brother came to cali and we worked, seperately or together, in around 100 films over four years .I went thru the "Boy to Man " thing, beefier, with some tatts, while my brother remained slender and twinkish. I've moved more into producing and directing. However, just last month I was asked to shoot for the European Cover of "Let's go Bareback on the Mountain". It seems that film, which went to # 1 on the JRL charts when released here, flopped in Europe. The distributors requested a new cover, with just me, in my boots and cowboy hat. It's nice to know demand is that high after all these films . :-)

Only single model sites we work with require exclusivity. We get so much traffic off model name searches that we would lose if the model only received exposure on our site. We would take a big hit if we required exclusive access. However, we do advise many of our guys which places to avoid, because if they are not shot right it can devalue the name.

As for life span, an upper level guy, rather than a head liner probably has a longer life span. Too much of a good thing is not always better.

Once a customer has seen a model cum, the gig is pretty much over.

For a model to have additional shelf life, the studio and the model need to work in tandem to keep his look fresh, hot and re-invented.

Big studios can afford to shoot in exotic locales. Smaller can afford different interiors. Same model, different geography, scenery and language can distract the viewer from turning to the Travel Channel.

Sometimes a model can have extended life if he is paired with new partners. If he's a good sucker, then find new treats to suck on. If he's a good bottom, then find a variety of good tops. But once he's cum the first time, he really needs to becomes the second fiddle.

Different grooming can help. I shot a 24 yr old who thinks he's still 19, and spends hours shaving his body and bleaching his hair to look like a 19 yr old Twink. NOT!!

I told him to come back in a couple of months when its all grown out, and natural brown again. Oh, and so far as him being a power bottom... I put my hand on hs dick and he started fucking it like a sailor on leave.

I am working with a couple of models now who are over-exposed thru other studios... especially studios who shoot drunken orgies. I like to make my models be the man they really are.
