best thing I ever did.
I posted a full scene of a Jack Off race from Fratpad on xtube.com last week, and we've had a 25% increase in membership.
And the place is abuzz with how virtaully all of the new members found us by seeing that xtube video.
I think it's proof that if your content and concept are good enough, giving away free content is GOOD for business.

Just curious what the vides look like that your marketing like that, and if everyone else is giving them full scenes. I can see how you would get a boost if your one of only 50 full gay scenes they offer, yet if everyone is giving full length vids away this could kill of the few remaining guys we still have in this industry eventually.
I mean, I can see how if your one of a few that are giving away so much that your going to get a bump, yet if everyone does that this could be yet another nail in our coffin :(
what I posted was a jackoff race between two of the guys. You see all of our models sitting around together and cheering the guys on.. having fun and being silly.
People saw the dynamic between the guys and decided they wanted in, I guess.
Either way, I figured I'd let you guys know.

I am sorry man I know you get pissed but, can you not see how 50 full scenes could help sales while 500-5000 reg updated full gay scenes could eventually devalue about the only thing we have to sell anymore. :vanish:
I also know you photographers, think your videos are go good that regardless how many you give away and others give away that people will still flock to your site, yet I think this is foolish and kind of egotistical. Just wait a year or 2 when viewers say they got most of what you offer for free, and want a refund because why pay for this worthless crap. :thumbsup:

YES, if you're doing produced scenes and giving them all away, it's probably not smart.
but what I was saying is that if you have something new and want to show it off.. it's probably not a bad idea to give one full scene instead of a few stills.

Oh I get that man, and offering a few “cam” videos is a really good idea and I do not see that as all that dangerous for sure. Yet I do see this as a very slippery slop, gay webmasters are drooping like flies and really image content has become almost worthless in members areas if we do the same with Vids not sure what the fuck your going to sell then.

Yep slop is slippery and some webmasters do droop, but a good marketing tactic showing an exclusive scene, from hundreds if not thousands of other exclusive scenes is a good draw, when most viewers are faced with nothing but leased over used video feeds. Sounds like a great use of Xtube Jason.. but then.. that's why you get the big bucks.. and you can spell too.. :kickcan:

As usual you guys dont understand, you think flooding the market with free full scene videos are going to help sales your a idiot. Yes in the beginning they help sales as people see this as getting a deal, and they are harder to find, but this will change really quick into people seeing these videos as worthless or what they expect to get for free.
And yes you can still push the exclusive stuff, but you are at the same time reducing your exclusive content to the leave that non exclusive stuff was before. I really don’t think most people give a FUCK where they get videos from, if Sean Cody gave all his content away for free, I am sure most of your viewers would not pay you a dime regardless.
Content is content to a point you guys have to get over yourself

I think what I really need to point out about Fratpad is that the good stuff.. amazingly enough... is NOT six guys having a jack off contest with the winner blowing his load on the loser.
The GOOD STUFF about Fratpad is that the members of the site get to have personal one-on-one contact with the Fratmen and take part in their day to day lives.
We can't put THAT on Xtbue but we can put stuff that will entice them into checking us out.
Now I post lots of stuff on Xtube, but most of it is 30-second clips of fully-clothed antics. Yes, if I post a full scene on there every week, I'll probaly not see the big jumps that posting teasers and the occasional cum shot would get me.

At the same time, as Sean said, giving away a ridiculous amount of free content for a membership site that doesn't have that much to begin with doesn't make sense.
And as Ken said, gay members do tend to be loyal if you treat 'em decently, so giving away a bit of content to get them to join makes sense.
Only problem is... if a ton of sites do post a ton of scenes, it may start to impact memberships, because there will be so much free content that people will whack off to the bunch of short clips instead of joining a site... but we went through the same thing with TGPs, so I think the industry will find a way around that problem as well.

I think you'll understand that if we're turning out content like this every day, it makes sense to post the odd scene for free in some places where people can wath it and share it.
I really do understand man, a cam site is very different from a reg members site, and like I said before this is a good idea for you. Just like running non nude interview vids, and even possibly short low quality nude clips. Yet when you take this beyond how you are using them I belive it will do nothing but offer a very temporary boost then, begin to undermine most of our members areas, and sales.Quote:

That video has had almost 200,000 views in about three weeks. The fact is that 99% of paysites don't have even one video that could generate that kind of interest.
Anyone coming out against this marketing tactic is the Honda dealer trying to prevent the Mercedes dealer from giving test drives. Surfer ignorance is the only reason hundreds of paysites survive.
Who is flooding the market? Geez ... Max he put up one video. And frankly, as far as Fratmen goes it was horrible. It was poorly shot, it was loud, everyone was talking at the same time, it was all over the place, and the last thing I wanted to do was pull out my cock and jack off. It was not the erotic, bed-spread humping, seductive stuff that I'm used to seeing from Fratmen. BUT, it's was obviously intended to get the people to Fratpad, and then, ultimately they'll hit Fratmen. And it's working. Don’t blame me, I was just being realistic, and its not like I am the one doing this, yet your right I am not going to sit back and watch people do this stuff. If many others post large free videos regardless how bad of a idea I think it is I will have to join in.

I honestly don't think it has anything to do with cam sites versus video content sites, Sean. The model is the same for good porn. People will pay to see it if there are hot ads for it out there. I do agree that people shouldn't be putting up entire scenes, but free hot trailers that might include one or two cumshots sprinkled throughout (just enough "money" to entice them into handing over theirs) are a great venue through which to court new traffic.
There are essentially two kinds of porn fans: Those who will watch anything just to get off, and those who want to see the good stuff. The former will probably cruise the free sites and jerk off to anything. The latter will stick around and pay month after month because they know exactly what they are getting and probably won't be able to find it anywhere else. That's why niche sites have become so popular among folks. There are too many mega-sites that are similar to each other now.
I personally think their is a world of difference in cam videos and reg videos as far as marketing goes anyway. Where I see it as ok to give out longer cam vids, like you said longer reg vids are not a good idea to be handing out., for the reasons I stated.
I really have NP with free hot trailers I hand them out all the time, yet if we all start to give out full scenes, or even over 3 minute nude videos we are going to be getting to many people off for free really this is not my job or what I want to do, I want to sell porn.
Its like the free samples in the supermarket, yes its a good idea for a few companies to give out some samples, yet if every product handed out free samples, people would stop buying anything at all and just roam the supermarket like a big smorgasbord when ever they got hungry.
