Im just curious to see how many of you folks that only promote gay products and sites, or that have your own gay specific programs, also post on the straight webmaster boards too?

Hey Lee,
Not to Hijack your thread but I'd also be interested to know how many WM boards (of any type) peeps actually read & post on, on a regular basis.
Personally I come here occasionally, and I when I remember to visit there's one other I go to....
A non rep wm friend of mine says he hits around 5 a day... to which I replied..... "When the fuck do you do any work!" lol
Cheers
D
I said no to posting on "straight" adult wm boards....but I will do so rarely when something relevant comes up. I do not regularly read them.
Armpitslover, I try to get to my favorite gay adult wm boards (both the busy ones and the slow ones) several times a week...and yes that is a challenge.
I voted no also. I try to avoid Breeders whenever possible.
the answer for me is both "yes" and "no".
i used to post on str8 boards, but i don't any longer just because i'm too busy and don't have the time to keep up with all the threads.
if i DID have the time, the answer would be "yes". however, my posts on the str8 boards were only the business-related type of posts. i didn't do any of the "social" posts. they were the hardcore, down and dirty, right to the core of the business type of posts.
I love posting on the straight boards, especially when it comes to gay issues. The problem I have with only posting on gay boards is that I feel like I'm just preaching to the choir, and not really have much of an effect on people. And I get antsy and complacent if I'm not challenged. I think there's a lot of good that can be done by standing up to the straight people who don't get it. I keep saying this, but I think it's very important for us to stake our claim in the "bigger picture" of this industry, and not happily relegate ourselves to our own coves where we are insulated from straights. We have a lot to teach those people about not just gays, but good business.
yes, but my main forum hangouts are here and GMS :)
I do both. I have friends on both sides. :)
I'm trying to build up more submissions to my link list, so I Board Tracker'd some keywords and I've been contributing to some posts as they come up.
I don't visit straight boards regularly though. Although I wouldn't mind finding a decent one. If anyone had some suggestions.
Michael
I had responded "no". The many times I had read other forums like GFY, I either got annoyed by what was written with a large child-like anti-gay presense or quickly came to understand it was a waste of my time businesswise. I do though fondly recall winning a scanner from YNOT in 1999.
I said yes, though my favorite place is the industry beacon for Gay webmasters, GWW.
GWW is the only board you can goto, other then netpond, that's inviting and doesn't have all those scammers, paid posters, and surfers posing as webmasters posting.
The anti Gay mentality on some straight boards is just a few of the younger newbies trying to flex their muscles and lift themselves up by dissing everyone. They are harmless and don't represent the bulk of posters there.
What are the benefits of just posting on a Gay board, as opposed to posting on Gay and straight boards?
Yes I do.
I spend the most time at Netpond and stopping by at GWW and GMS once in a while. Other boards I do visit very rarely.
I find myself going to the straight WB more and more.
After all they are a big untaped market for us.
I mostly post to GMS and here, but I often find myself on some other straight boards when I'm trying to learn some aspect of marketing that a specific board seems to be devoted to, like the askdamagex for tgp stuff for instance.
As one of the biggest content providers evar!(ever)
I post on all boards
I do read both. I post primarily here but find that for detailed tech information, I get better response from the straight boards. However, I get far better marketing information from the gay boards. It seems like a ton of the most advanced tech stuff is happening in the straight arena (except for the great stuff happening at Randy Blue)
I have to say, i agree with you on this, for some reason the gay webmaster community doesnt really seem all that tech savvy but they are a lot better with the marketing angle and the opposite is definately true in my experience of the straight webmaster community.
I cant figure out why thats the case though, thats whats really weird about it all.

Lee
I do. I was there before i was here. Cause we have straight and gay content
i post on gfy a lot
