Abstaining that is. This is the first time in my life I've been single. I decided last night that I need to take some time to get to know myself, unencumbered by dating games and sexual confusion. So I've decided to abstain from sex for a while.

I think we should start a pool....

How long do you think I can go without sex (oral counts too). In fact, any sharing of genitalia with another person counts. I'm allowed to j/o but only alone. Who's gonna start the betting?

I bet that I'll have more time and concentration to put into my work efforts.

I'm not going to bet on you. I will encourage you. Getting to know yourself before getting into it with other people is very important.

If you're committed to getting to know you, then you'll be fine. I did it for a long time, once. I decided the same thing you did, no more BS, me before anyone else.

I won't go into how long I lasted because no one ever believes me. ;)

I agree that time to figure out who you are and what you want in life is important ... but don't forget to have a bit of fun! Just be upfront about not wanting anything serious just now... none of that 2 dates and fetchin the uhaul stuff.

after a couple horrible relationships and some quickies with people who got attached immediately, i actually spent two years celebate while i sorted out who i was. i know most people wouldn't do it, but i gotta tell you - it was worth it.

it's very hard to sort yourself out when you're dealing with what you want from others - or what they want from you.

All I have to say is WHY??? I think I would last maybe a week before exploding!

Go for it jason, I think it's a bit like quitting smoking though i.e. it's hard but it's worth it. If I were a betting man which I'm not I would say as long as you think you can do it!
