Did anyone buy the iPhone? Was curious what you thought about it, after having it a little while? :high:
I was going to but then gary injected some reality explaining how my regular cell phone, ipod video and wireless net connection does everything the iPhone does anyway and i dont use them much LOL
Regards,
Lee
Was just reading a review on that a few minutes ago ... from a technical standpoint they're saying it is the best ipod to date, but that it is heavy, so not ideal for joggers, and that it only has 8 gig of memory ... and not to opt for the one with 12 as the price doesn't justify it. There was also some minor comments about the pad functionality being awkward.
This site has a whole lot of iphone related topics -- from usage, to extending battery life, to hackers and more.
mark from itensecash loves his, and i believe rand from epoch got one.
as i understand it, the iphone doesn't offer a full on high speed internet connection.
It's not heavy at all, there IS no 12 gig version (just 4 and 8) and it IS the best phone I've ever had.
Love mine.. we all got them at Fratmen.. had them delievered to our desks last Monday.
It's not really great for joggers.. but that's what the iPod shuffle is for.
And their toys....
What can you do?
:square:
it's really a lovely piece of machinery... I use it as my alarm clock, my phone, my iPod (unless I'm running)my personal organizer, my portable internet and my camera (the pics are surprisingly good for 2 Mega Pixels.)
That and the glass screen is in pristine condition even after being in my pocket for over a week.
I luv my iPhone.
I really like the visual interface for the phone functions, from large keypad, to list of contacts, flipping thru contacts, and the SMS text messaging display with cartoon like thought balloons representing the texting conversation.
The weather feature, map with traffic congestion overlays, and clock.
E-mail is very clean.
It uses my wireless cable modem/router here at home, and when I'm out it looks for WiFi hotspots, or uses the EDGE network.
Activation took less than 5 minutes.
I will be looking into more uses for the iPhone, including monitoring Banking.
I didn't get it day one, I waited a week and a half.
i dont know any one that has buyed one yet
We all got them at Fratmen. We had them delievered to our desks on the Monday morning after they came out and we all spent the whole day playing with them.
I was at lunch today and out of the 6 people there, 5 of us had them.
it's going to be the next iPod.. everyone will have one.
the "only 8 gig of memory" is what sticks in my mind.
If there is a God, s/he would have this phone. It's the most beautifully designed piece of hardware and software I've ever seen in my 30 years in the tech industry.
I am waiting on the iPhone to do 2 important things:
1) If I am at the studio within range of my wireless router, I want the phone to do VoIP rather than use the cell tower service (thus saving on my plan's minutes), and
2) Get a skinnier straight shot at my Bank balance.
Pocket devices need lite functions and features.
Not for the faint hearted iPod owner:

The iPhone is going to be released in Europe it looks like next week. Apple is going to have an announcement Tuesday in there.
I never did buy the iPhone, I love my blackberry, but after being with at&t for 2 months, I switched back to Verizon!
I love my Tmobile Dash to much to get the Iphone plus my tmobile dash was 250.00 and the iphone 499. My friend has one and I hear him bitch about the price and one thing after another and how the screen is fading out which if you read on e gadget is a problem a lot of phone owners are complaining about haha.. Anyways I think I will wait until APPLE releases its secondary phone is is going to release to the other carriers in the future.. which was a questioned asked a press conference and they said they will have something else for the other carriers in the near future so screw it LOL..
The only iPhone available is the 8gb and it is $399 now.
I bought one last week and love it and I'm not a 'phone' person. 8gb holds a lot of music... I was surprised. I haven't tried any video yet. But the file transfer is very fast so swapping out different playlists and videos shouldn't be too big of problem.
The WiFi is great for surfing the internet although I haven't tried surfing on EDGE yet. The interface is very slick and intuitive for web surfing. And the screen is surprisingly clear and readable. Flash and WMP aren't supported which is a major drag though.
I would like to have GPS on it, video recording and more storage. Maybe the next gen will have those options. And a rubberized edge around the outside would be nice. It's a slippery little sucker... I'd better buy a case before I drop it. ;)
My phone has AWESOME WIFI.. Mobile 6 and 2 gigs of memory as well as completly compatible with my mac pro book as well as my PC :) Also still at 399 I dont care lol I paid 250 for mine and mine does all the same stuff as the iphone but it is much cheaper and I dont have to deal with that touch screen that with my sweaty fingers wouldnt work out for me.. My tmobile dash rocks and at 39.99 a month for unlimited roaming, 1000 whenever minutes and night and weekends free starting at 7pm Im still saving money.. HAHA only thing my phone doesnt have is 8gig of memory and I dont care about all that 2 gigs in enough for me and plus I get tmobile customer service and not CINGULARS crap customer service that is not award winning so I have managed to find a solution that is amazing for MUCH MUCH MUCH less.. :)
P.s. Plus mine has GPS on it cause I bought my OEM from HTC and it has video recording to so I guess mine has more options :) and I not only saved money from the intial purchase of the handset but also on the stupidly overpriced service cingular offers not to mention there terrible customer service that they are consistantly get sued for there nasty contracts.. LOL
P.s.
My aunt works for cingular CORPORATE/ now at&t and she will even admit that they are losing customers like mad crazy because of verizon and tmobiles superior customer service and continued dedication to there customers.. She also added that cingulars contract are manipulative and decieving and if it was not for her work phone cingular/at&t provide to her for free for work, she wouldnt use them HAHA and she works for them.. Also when she is at home she uses VERIZON for her personal phone. LOL what does that tell you..
Sorry for taking the thread off-topic. I'm still getting the hang of things here :) I'll try my best to pay more attention next time!!
No problems really... it's not like your comment was really off-topic. Comparing cell-phones with each other is perfectly legitimate. It just seemed kinda harsh and unnecessary to trash the iPhone by quoting my post. It's almost like you were telling me I was stupid for buying an iPhone... or something. :)
No it wasnt that at all.. Instead of hitting reply I accidently hit quote and I do that sometimes.. so it was completly my bad.. I accidently hit the wrong button HAHA thank god Im not the president.. :signhere:
I like my iPhone. I don't use it excessively for voice. I like it's data features. In the office I use Skype for US/Canada calls($30/yr).
I took this pic in the front window of Drake's in WeHo.

HAHA well from my experience and from all the stuff I have been reading lately and what my aunt tells me cingular/at&t is taking what appears to be a severe beating.. Verizon was offered the Iphone apparently but they refused because of apples stiff asking price :) but need not worry apple is releasing another phone next year to the other carriers so I would either wait see what they have to offer the other carriers or just spend the 400.. I say wait for the 2nd generation of iphones cause history has proved with technology the 2nd and 3rd trys are always better and you can save a ton of money if you are patient spender/investor but that is just my take on things no offense to anyone else.
Its like with the RAZR when it first came out everyone thought it was the most amazing thing ever.. THEY WHERE 599 dollars haha and when I first got my RAZR it was 399 and now you can get them for FREE with a 25.00 dollar mail in REBATE so you actually get money back on a contract. Im sure you guys are all aware of this but my point here is it only took a year and half for the razr to almost be completly free.. :heartu:
