It took AEBN hundreds of thousands in ad spending to get Qpeeps and Xpeeps semi-popular, what makes someone who is making maybe $500 a month think they are going to do a better job than a company with thousands to invest every month?
I really dont understand why the adult industry has gone from being a leader in online technology and trends to a follower spawning hundreds of copycat sites.

OK its my turn to call you out and say that your response is stupid. Whats myspace traffic now? About 3-4 million visitors a day? If you start up your own social networking site and manage to get 1/10th of 1% of that traffic, you would be getting 3000-4000 visitors a day. You don't think you would have success with that traffic?

Based on what you just said, everyone should still go right ahead and open up a TGP, TheHun gets millions of hits each day, getting 1/10th of 1% of his traffic would be good too but you dont see webmasters telling others that opening a TGP is going to make them thousands of dollars, why is opening a social network any different? Likewise, i still see people trying to cash in on that 'million dollar homepage' pixel selling site, even though the time to do so has passed my point is, just because someone else is doing something well, that doesnt mean that everyone should go right out and launch a similar site, product or service because the chances are, by the time they do, they will have missed the boat and will be fighting a constant uphill battle to get traffic.

It has been PROVEN that most users of social networks use more than one site. Infact i cant remember the results of the pole, but it says like 65% of people use Myspace and over 5 more!
Myspace users usually use FaceBook to for instance.
So what you are saying is, everyone should go out and launch an adult version of FaceBook because people will want to use it?Quote:

Social networking has been around for quite some time. It's the face that changes. The branding, the functions and the hook.
So, the simple idea of Social networking being dead in the water is not true. Not even close to true. It's the core of the internet.
The argument is simply in the presentation.
Side note - Myspace was just a clone of Friendster but their hook of getting bands to join and letting John and Jane Doe befriend them, make a profile and add a personal touch.
Friendster was just a clone of Circle of Friends.
It's the HOOK, not the site.

It's not 1995 anymore. There are millions of paysites. Those putting up paysites now are jumping on an old bandwagon and copying everyone else.

Sure, people bookmark their favorite sites, but there are hundreds of thousands of new Internet users every day. That is the market you want to attract, the non-jaded newbies.

We have many successful clients who operate social networking sites, and even though they are different from paysites on many levels - the successful ones on both sides are about NICHE market.

By this logic, everyone would have to develop their very own original & radical ideas and not duplicate anything anyone has done before. The blog, review, TGP, AVS, freesite, paysite, forum, etc. markets are clogged with competition.
I could never make a paysite as successful as Randy Blue, Corbin Fisher and Sean Cody... so why bother. ;)
I don't think the logic would lie in not making a new site as a copy of a particular niche...
Yes it takes a lot to get any type of site up and running. The main thing is to try to figure out what people are not going to get bored with and to latch on it. Yes there are a few Social Networking sites right now. But something definitely new will come along and people will jump on it... because after a while the same people come onto the sites and people get bored with people easily.
IE. Less users I notice in my area who used to go to gay.com to hookup, I see less of on gay.com now and moreso on manhunt, or both even because they are two similar sites to network on but have completely different user bases. It really depends on the people and what they are looking for. And that is where the success lies.
Something else will come along that is pretty much the same as the sites before, but just better features or different features or different users, and it will click.
