TLA fucks up BIG TIME

We just signed a contract with TLA a couple of weeks ago - great! one of the first bareback companies to be represented - big problem though... they were only authorized to put up 7 titles - they have put up 15 titles - we did not send the additional titles to them - so, my question is this...

where did they get the titles from? and why did they put them up without our knowledge and consent?

Nobody is around to deal with this issue at TLA today - "they are all at a film festival" goodie!

not a great way to start off with us here at Zyloco today...

more to cum on this - specially interested in our first release that is not available anywhere but in our store... hmmm makes you wonder doesn't it...

this is not a good way for TLA to enter the streaming market - stolen content?

we'll know tomorrow when our reps return from the film festival - if I were at TLA right now, I'd be running some messages to the guys at the festival - but then that's me, and my old fashioned way of doing business.

If you refer to your rather clearly stated and distinct TLAondemand.com contract, there is no indication within those pages of distinct rights being offered to TLA for some titles and not for others. In the future, to avoid these kinds of "fuck ups" as you call them, I encourage you to take advantage of the printed word to clearly indicate your proposed and planned release schedule, we're always happy to oblige.

As for your representative being away...that's true! He's in Las Vegas attending the Home Media Expo. Feel free to contact me at your leisure so that I can rectify this first world problem immediately!

That was my take on the issue as well.

Well to be fair to TLA and to Tony, we dont actually know what 'happened' so far, it could have been something simple, id hold off a while before presuming guilt on either parties side $0.02

Remember, its innocent until proven guilty, not guilty until proven innocent ;)

to be honest you didnt/dont have to...

i must admit i think the CEO handled this matter very very poorly and his post came across to me as if he thought you where an idiot for being mad about this... i might be reading too much in to his attitude from the post but the way this has been handled with them not answering (everyone being unavailable, give me a break!) and just magically sprouting material that they where never sent etc..

naa, think i will very much pass on that experience..

OK - so here you go guys and gals... the real dirt...

we just got off the phone with Brian at TLA - he couldn't have been nicer - we traced the mysterious 7 titles to a shipment from one of our distribution sources....

Jesus Christ, I always freak when I see our content up and running - not over reaction just over protection I guess - that's what a good dad should do

anyway, we're all fine and TLA is taking care of us real good - after all, we're one of the first barebacking companies that they're dealing with - which is completely fantastic

we are confident that we will have a long and energetic relationship with them...

in our book - everything has worked out equitably for both parties and as usual - any problems that occurred due to lack of communication have been resolved

and thanks Lee, for making the necessary contact for us - you have become one of our ambassadors - thanks!

I've done business with TLA VOD for over 2 months, and it is a smooth operation.

I did business with TLA in 2005, and that revenue was substantial. I am only sad that they dropped the title from their DVD catalog. But I have made up for the loss through Amazon.com .

I think the initiator of this thread was very wrong in discussing this business matter publically, without first and foremost understanding how the service works, and discussing directly with his account representative.

I know the answer to the question (from my personal experience of having titles hosted on TLA VOD), and it does NOT involve piracy in any degree. But I am not going to discuss how it works, because that would give away some otherwise bona fide trade secrets that work to my benefit, except to say that TLA is a good clean player in the VOD marketplace.

They are a valueable asset alongside AEBN, Hot Movies and a couple of others - ONLy a couple of others!

I have to agree with Nick. Discussing this issue on a public forum probably wasn't the best move. Better to work it out privately and not create undue negative comments until ALL of the facts are know.

TLA has been streaming our films for quite sometime and we've never had a problem with them. They've been around for awhile and have a damn good reputation. We couldn't be happier being associated with them.

Ok Guys.
The only reason we came to the boards at all is that we were told on the phone by one of the receptionist at TLA, that there was no one there that we could talk to today.And to call back another day.
We did not know that Brian was there. And given the magnitude of our concerns, he was not happy that we were not given to him when we called.

Tony wanted to get this resolved stat. And by posting here and with the help of Lee we got to the root of all this, and now both TLA & Zyloco are happy as clams.

TLA video is by far the most reputable and trustworthy gay adult company in the industry! We have worked closely with them for over 10 years and they are wonderful to work with!

and now, thanks to us, Anthony DeAngelo and Cameron Cruise and our company Zyloco, Inc., TLA will be improving their studio contracts and the way in which they interface with content providers...

The boards have long been used to get issues taken care of, and for that, they can serve a valuable purpose. However, there is also a certain responsibility inherent in using the boards. As this thread proves, it's far too easy to over-react and jump to conclusions. Despite the fact that the issue has been taken care of, there is now a seed of doubt placed in the air about one company's professionalism. No matter what the outcome of this thread, people will remember, "Oh, weren't they the ones who screwed over those guys a while back?"

Negativity is the downfall of this industry. And there are just far too many negative people in this business.

There was a way to bring this issue to the board in a way that may have given TLA the benefit of the doubt. Had the initial post been one more along the lines of "Hey, we're having this issue, and we're not sure what to do about it. Does anybody have any advice? We really like TLA, and we're so happy to be with them, but right now we're a little unclear of what's going on there" etc. etc instead of a post that was full of innuendo and speculation, a lot of the hostility that has come through in the responses to the thread could have been avoided. It's an old saying, but just count to 10 and take several deep breaths before posting stuff like this here. It's all about how you present your issues that defines the reputation you will have in this industry. But if you're quick to fly off the handle at a moment's notice and point fingers and make unfounded accusations, that creates an air of uncertainty and instability that could come back and bite you in the ass.

Don't mean to lecture. That's just my $.02. Feel free to ignore it. :)
