FBI Confirms 2257 Inspections in Fla. Last Week
All five inspections resulted in infractions, but currently no evidence of actual minors appearing in content.

MIAMI, Fla. — The FBI's 2257 inspection team conducted five inspections of Florida-based producers last week, all of which resulted in violations, XBIZ has learned.

Special Agent Chuck Joyner, the head of the FBI's inspection team, confirmed to XBIZ via email that the inspection team flew to Miami on Sept. 16 and conducted the inspections over the course of that week.

Joyner said that all five inspections resulted in violations, but the FBI has no evidence of any minors being included in the content. Joyner said that one producer admitted that he did not keep any photo identification records prior to 2005, and a second producer failed to produce any photo identification records.

Joyner was traveling and not immediately available for follow-up questions, and the media liaison for the FBI’s Los Angeles field office did not respond to XBIZ by post time.

Completely amazing to me that someone would admit not keeping records until 2005, and even more amazing that someone would shoot content and keep no records whatsoever. But I guess I should never be surprised by the level of stupidity.

any word on who was inspected ?

We're in Miami and have not heard of the companies that were inspected.

I heard Joyner speak at the LA Xbiz seminar last year and he/the FBI came off as pretty reasonable and gave cause for relief.

Most of these companies, if it's ridiculous compliancy stuff like using font that's a point too small for the 2257 statement, not having the records available immediately, etc..., will get a notice or two to correct their non-compliancy issues...

But I don't hold out much hope for the guy who kept no records before 2005, lol...

Candid Cam was the only one listed in the article. and btw, their lawyer says:

"We were in good order at the time of the inspection," he said Wednesday. "My clients have been very serious about keeping their records since 1998. They also have updated software to manage all of our records, which is a big help, and the FBI really appreciated it. I guess the FBI is really starting to do more of these checks. They mentioned that they have already completed 65 of them so far and that they would be spending two days in Florida conducting 2257 inspections."

I just caught one other nugget in that article:

65 inspections have been carried out, yet only a small handful have been made public (presumably by the people who were inspected.)

I wonder what the other inspections revealed?

It would definately be interesting to see who the other companies that got inspected were especially if they have programs attached to their 'content'.

Part of me doesn't get why some companies are so eager to share with the world the fact that they were inspected. Sometimes it looks like the folks are desperate for attention, other times I suppose it seems they want to head off suspicion or concern among affiliates/associates in case word gets out about any violations or whatever. But... I sometimes picture the producer or a rep immediately calling up whatever media outlets they can and being like "They're here! We're the ones! OMG OMG OMG!"

I think they went to str8 production companies only. I read they went to 2 in South Florida, one in tampa, one in Orlando and another company I forgot were...but we were unaware inspections had taken place and we don't know if any gay studios that have been inspected.

What really gets me is the fact that the FBI are actually telling Xbiz and AVN when inspections happened and in some cases, who was inspected, not the companies who have been inspected.

Thats very worrying to me, the Feds shouldnt be telling anyone about inspections they carry out because its nobodys business except the FBIs and the companies being inspected.

It's probably public record, so people have the right to know or can find out anyway. That's just my guess and $0.02

In the Q&A at the Xbiz Convention in the spring, Joyner described the process of who they choose to inspect. he said they randomly draw names in a rotation, including making second and third visits to the same studios.

How could five "random choices" come up all in the same area of the country?

Conversely, should taxpayers pay for inspectors to randomly visit one studio in California, then one in Florida, then back to California?
