thanks, but it doesn't work in my ff - it makes a freaky 2-level player that i've seen in a few paysites i reviewed. the vids don't play and it also shortens the actual player to around 2/3 of the defined size and the rest of the defined area is a big dark empty area :crybaby:

Patti,
There is a Firefox Plugin for Windows Media Embedded players. Go to http://www.microsoft.com/mediaplayer Scroll to the bottom and there is the download for the plugin.
This usually fixes the scrunched up video issue
thanks, but members aren't usually anxious to download plugins. during my reviewing i've seen embedded players that do work in firefox without the plugin, and i'm hoping that those will work in this situation.
btw, the scrunched players don't play the videos. does the plugin fix that?
Remember when embedding a video player on webpage, you need to account for the controls in the player dimensions. Otherwise you will get "scrunched" video. If a video is 720x480 then the player (depending on the WMP controls you choose to use) will need to 720x480 + the number of pixels the player controls uses.
We've got a member in Germany who is having the same problem.
We fixed the code on the server according to instructions but the member to my knowledge has been unable to solve the problem.
Some of our wmv's will play (short clips 3mins) and the larger ones won't.

Go here http://cit.ucsf.edu/embedmedia/step1.php
You pick the media player that you want and give it the parameters and it will create the code for you. I tested it on firefox and it works. It is a cool little site that creates embed codes for most common players out there.
Quick question. Are you using Windows Vista? If you are windows media player in Vista has a nasty flaw where it takes a good min or 2 to play the file. I just checked it in my Vista computer and there is the typical 1-2 min delay and none with XP.
Below that http://cit.ucsf.edu/embedmedia/step1.php generated. I put the path to one of our promo videos.

no, i'm not using vista - i'm using xp pro. and it didn't take a minute or 2 to play - it didn't play ever :(
this isn't for my site, but for a client's.
i'm not talking about being cross platform - i'm a pc user and i can't watch videos using the embed codes here. a couple player codes i've used before that worked fine in the past didn't work when combined with strongbox.
