They're offering $2,500 for modeling jobs. That seems really high to me... has the average market price for hot studs gone up without my noticing?

several posters on this board pay that much.
Most models in our niche earn $1500 per solo scene. $500 for a photoshoot. We generally bundle the shoots 2 solo scenes and one 2.5 hour photo shoot over 1.5 days (luxury hotel and food provided) with air fare and limo. This 1.5 day assignment pays $3000.
Top tier muscle guys are very high dollar.
only $2500?
I wish.
The moral of the story is "you get what you pay for." :jasun:
The other issue is... take with a grain of salt any ad on Craigslist.
A few weeks ago, there was an ad for "Osterfeld Worldwide" on Craigslist making all sorts of outrageous claims (largest male modeling agency in the world, single photog for the biggest gay company in the US, etc.) which upon inspection turned out to be totally bogus. They were making all sorts of inflated claims, and just last week, another bogus scout hit up AJ on Myspace inviting him to model for Falcon (if you've ever met AJ, he, at 5'4 and 130 lbs dripping wet, is about as far from a Falcon model as it gets.)
There are a TON of so-called "agents" or "scouts" who get paid for models they refer to various studios, and some of them float the $2500-5000 per scene number out there, knowing that while there are numerous studios who do, in fact, pay that, the vast majority of models who respond will end up working for small twink studios that pay a tenth of that.
Models who are in the jock/college boy sector and work for the bigger producers are regularly paid $1500-5000/scene, and more is not uncommon. I'm not familiar with the pay rates for the 25+ crowd, but I assume that's up there too. Twinks generally get paid less, depending on the studio or site.
Damn! We pay our models between $1200 and $2000 for a weekend shoot. But we also produce aprox. 35 scenes in a weekend. Models are in about 10-15 of those. But it's not all sex.... We also film:
Massage Only - No Sex, No masturbation or anything
Truth or Dare games
Naked Workouts
Circle Jerks
Orgies
etc.
I thought we paid a lot.
Yeah, I was thinking that $1,500 was about the max for high quality models, with "average" amateur type guys getting around $200 to $500. Shows how much I know.
I'm only doing some blogs right now but have toyed with the idea of starting a site with original content. You guys must be making A LOT of money if you can afford to pay models more than $2,500! I'd probably have to plan on start-up costs of $50K or more just to get enough models to launch a site!
We have no choice. You can not get top quality guys for $100 and a line of coke. This aint 1982.
Rule of thumb.. if a guy comes to you and wants to do porn... don't use him.
If he's so hot that he makes you weak but WILL NOT do porn.. pay him enough to change his mind. :cheerleader:
I think a lot of people on the DVD side already know this :)
Not as a rule. As far as models go, hook-up sites are not a great resource.
Not us.
Everyone else does that. you'll just end up with "been there... seen him" syndrome.
I think a lot of the guys one here are feeding you a line or crap. We pay a first time model $500 for a first shoot. It includes video and stills. If we bring him back, he'll get paid $750 to $1,000 depending on what we want him to do and how much we like him. Seldom do we pay more than $1,500.
Bill
There are plenty of studios that pay $100 or $200 or $500.
There are plenty of others that pay $1500, $2500, $5000 or more.
We have models in both categories.
Karl from Bedfellow talked about this at one of the seminars some years ago and said his own fees ranged between $50 and $500 depending on how much the model was willing to accept to do the required work. His viewpoint was basically whatever it took to get the model to accept the offer is what he paid, and two guys doing scenes on the same day might get wildly different amounts.
Location makes a difference. If you're in LA, you're going to have a hard time finding ANY models for $300. If you're in East Chickenscratch, WI, you'd probably have plenty of models dying to work for $150.
A twink that wants to impress everyone with the fact that he's on the cover of a DVD might work for very cheap. A straight guy who has no interest in porn has to be offered enough that he's willing to overcome his discomfort with being on a porn site.
I don't think anyone here is BSing. It's just that different niches command different pay rates, the motivation of the models makes a big difference, and the part of the country also makes a difference.
gave me my start in the industry and i'll forever respect and love him even if he doesn't remember my name.
I think he is a trail blazer and a leader and even if you don't know it, he's most likely the reason you're here.
'nuff said.
(but i don't take back a word.)
Returning to my original post, that ad was posted in Craig's List in Austin, TX, that's why I thought $2,500 was kind of crazy.
Some of the more aggressive scouts post on craigslist all over the country. I've seen similar ads in places like Dubuque, IA and Cheyenne, WY.
