just do a backup (wp-backup plugin) before doing your upgrade. Took about 10 seconds and no problems on my domains so far.
i think its safe, but for your security just create your back up 1st..

I haven't made an upgrade myself yet, but from what i've read on boards it's worth to give it a try. And they say it became faster:)
i am still not doing blogs yet but i think i might be starting to soon so no i have not updated yet :)
Had a glitch on one site -- and it was a theme compatibility issue. If by chance you upgrade, and the site goes blank on you: go up with ftp to your theme folder and rename the theme you use. That will cause wordpress to fetch the default theme so you can at least see the login page.
2.8 works fine for me so far. I liked the upgrade automatically feature (after doing my backups). What a time saver!
I looked for the backup plug in at WP, tried it, but it said it wouldn't work with my system...strange. Later just clicked on "upgrade to WP 2.8" on my WP dashboard, followed the link provided about backing up, read them...maybe that's what I was supposed to do. But it confused me. So I did the backup manually. Upgraded all sites "automatically" and haven't found any problems so far.
has anyone noticed that as you are writing, the scroll bar moves by itself?

I have not noticed any compatability issues with plugins.
Some themes have issues with categories in 2.8. Upgrading to the 2.8.1 beta fixes this and a few other minor things that popped up.

I've been having issues with 2.8 locking up when I access the edit section.
IE8 just locks right up with a hanging hourglass the second you click anything in the edit window.
Not sure if it is a WP issue or IE8 issue. I'm not a big fan of IE8 to begin with but this is a major pain having to edit themes in an external window and FTP to the server to make minor changes.
it is something to do with auto save, found a plug in that turns it off, but it doesn't work on all my blogs
i tried the 2.8.1 upgrade on a few of my blogs and that didn't help at all
you set the autosave in your config file. You can turn it off, or set a longer time between saves.
