Long story short my eyes hurt alot from web work. I just noticed that I can up the browser size in IE... god how long have they had this neat little tool for those of us going blind?
Anyone else like this feature I'm digging it!

Oh wow .... that's been around quite awhile! Che really has hers up to jumbo plus font size I think!
I have mine at 145 percent. As you know or don't know I have glaucoma, so I try to rest my eyes as much as possible.
i like to keep the sizes what the surfer would be seeing, i screw up enough that i don't want the print or pic sizes to big

I'm really glad I didn't throw out my old glasses actually. The pair I've worn the last few years broke right in half over the nose ... and I'm blind as a bat without them! I was really praying I hadn't thrown out the pair I had before, and was feeling around my dresser drawers til I came up with the glass case! Whew!
God that would be scary! I have bi-focals now, and I'm finding I can't drive at night hardly at all. It really scares the hell out of me...Quote:

I do like the option of the blended bifocal they have nowadays. I can remember the lines in my grandparents glasses. The blended lenses make

I just got new glasses, and a friend told me about this place, Zenni Optical... I was really skeptical, but found some online reviews and gave them a try.
Everything is made in China and shipped to the US in bulk, then reshipped to the individual customers. It takes 2-3 weeks from date of order to receive your glasses.
I got three pairs... one single vision, one bifocal for use at the computer, and one bifocal for use everywhere else. The single-vision glasses (lenses and frames) cost $10. Progressive bifocals, with titanium flex frames, cost $55, and the progressive bifocals with regular frames were about $40. So three pair cost about $115 with shipping, which was less than half of what I previously paid for ONE pair of progressive bifocals with frames.
I was pretty skeptical, but the glasses have all been good quality, the prescription seems perfect, and I really couldn't be happier.
Oh and... I do very highly recommend getting a separate prescription from your optometrist specifically for computer use. They reduce it from your normal distance prescription so it doesn't strain your eyes, and it's made a HUGE difference for me. My optometrist didn't charge any more for the two separate prescriptions.
Ordering glasses online can save a lot of money. The internet opticians use your eye doctor's prescription so it should be identical to the lenses you would receive in a shopping mall or other brick-and-mortar storefront. The one disadvantage is that you can't try on frames but at the prices they offer, you can buy a couple of pairs, use the one you like most and keep the other as a backup.
