I am leaving for a while....

Well guys... I am leaving for some time.

Most of you know about HDK Bill's passing of cancer. I was diagnosed with Hairy Cell Leukemia about 2 weeks prior to Bill's diagnosis. I went into remission very quickly and then went to Bill's house in Delaware to celebrate his remission....

Lately, I've been feeling weak. I've been waking up in the mornings with bruises, the bruises have came from no reason, and just so tired all of the time. I went to the doctor last week, they did a bone marrow biopsy from my hip and blood work. The results came back today that I'm no longer in remission. I've came out of it.

They want me to start radiation treatments Thursday. When I went through radiation when I was diagnosed, it wiped me out, it really took a toll on my body. I have to go through 3 weeks of radiation. I also have to go daily for nutrient treatments. Of course medications. During this time frame, I will be on complete bed rest.

I'm not sure how long I will be away. I'm hoping to recover as fast as possible so that I can get back on my feet.

Fortunately, I'm addicted to my job. I will try and work from my bed. I just might not be around as much. Today is formally my last day here until I recover.

I am strong, I am a fighter. I have a tattoo on the right side of my chest that says "SURVIVOR" and that's what I am. I got the tattoo when I went into remission the first time. I am planning for this process to be fast, quick, and to get back up on my feet ASAP.

Wow, this got me a bit choked up.
You know, there's one thing I've learned in life... It deals more with animals but has a lot of meaning in this situation. With animals: You never know how much you really love them until something happens. You guys are great and I super truly value the friendships that I've made over the past couple of years on GWW.

I will keep you posted. I will also continue our efforts in fighting piracy.

Baby, it is only a moment in the grand scheme of your life. Concentrate on what will be going on in a few weeks once you're on the road to recovery and keep telling yourself that no matter how awful you feel, you're on your way to being happy and healthy again. Think and feel about the future of being those things and it will guide our body to being there again.

Here is my update...

I can't sit up for long, I'm so sick. :pigs04:
I had my first radiation treatment today. I doubt many have had radiation. It sucks! You feel great going in for it. You feel okay coming out of it. About a half hour after it, your body is very drained. Your very nautious. You feel like you need to hug the toilet forever. You don't want to eat but you have to force yourself to.

Today, they put a temporary IV in my arm. I have to stay hooked to it and I have to keep a bag hooked to me which contains essentially water which keeps the IV line open. For radiation, the purpose is to reduce my white blood cell count. Right now it's in the 30's. For someone who has the form of Leukemia that I have, it should be between 7-11. They have to reduce that. My calcium level has dropped to a very "severe" state. My calcium level is -19. It should be above +5. As you see, what has happened today is only the beginning. The IV was placed in my arm because when I do have my radiation they have to put fluid (can't remember the name of it) into your body for the radiation to work. I also have to keep it in for my nutrient treatments that I have to get every 3 days. I also have to take a lot of medications. I'm on about 8 different meds. My side effects from the medications is I forget, I get emotional (for example, today the mail was late and I balled my eyes out lol), and I get very drowsy.

That's where I am. I can't sit up long, I get too nautious, I can't stand long and need help moving around the house because I'm very weak.

So, this is where I am. Unfortunately, I'm hooked to my job. I have a wireless keyboard and mouse. When I have the ability to work, I use that. I am mainly only going through emails. I can't reply right now because it's hard for me to think straight. Even with posting this, I've had to revise it 5 times already lol. If you do not get a reply from me please don't think I'm ignoring you. I will reply as soon as I can.

Well, back to sleep I go.

Thanks guys. Feeling better today. I had a "nutrient" treatment this morning. This is where they put something like a mixture of calcium, vitamins, and water to flush these into your system.

Let me tell you! A half hour after they started the process, I felt like I was on the top of the world! Have you ever drank too much coffee and your just wired bouncing off walls? That's how I felt. I did lay in bed most of the day today, I watched a lot of Spongebob Squarepants LOL. Eventually I got enough strength back and sat up and got some work done. It's slow, but hey you gotta start somewhere.

It's the radiation and meds that really kick your butt. I don't have radiation again until Monday morning. My body is accepting the radiation and my white blood cell count is dropping and my calcium level is increasing. It's only day 2, but a ways to go. Unfortunately, each radiation will get stronger and my body just won't like it. :mad: But, I'm still around and being a board whore as usual. WINK! :)

Now, xopa! Send me some of that viagra or cialis that you carry around with you all of the time! That will get me uppity uppity haha. Just teasing.

Oh trust! My doctor is VERY cute! I was describing him today to Don Mike... He looks like Ryan Phillipe from Cruel Intentions the movie. Except he's shorter, tight firm butt, he's more built, dark curly hair, a very nice 5 oclock shadow where he has a beard but stubble. I'd say he's in his very early 30's. I think he might be gay because when he gets excited on explaining things, he could fly right out of here lol.

But I do have great care. :nutkick:
