How Can I Convert My Membership Site to PPV or VOD and What Pay. Proc. Can I Use?

I've had my website MasterRyker.c0m for about six years. Anyone who joins immediately gets access to ALL of my video content (probably adds up to 5 or 6 hours of video). They can do this by buying the cheapest membership of $19.95. There is a monthly renewing membership, but 95% of my customers select the one-time short membership. I notice some of them come back every few months and join again for the minimum price.

I feel like I am "giving away" way too much content for such a small price. I'd love to have my customers pay by the minute or by the video.

I use CCBill but they do not process this type of payment (as far as I know). I find CCBill to be incredibly confusing, and they don't take Visa card without an $800 up-front fee. I was also using Verotel Ticket Club, which I really liked because they not only took Visa, but they were simple to use. But they dropped me, saying my "type" of website has too many chargebacks. My own particular website hadn't had a single chargeback, but there was nothing I could do.

I'm not even sure I'm using CCBill as well as I might. Twice I've requested that they review my site and give me advice or suggestions for improvement in how I offer/present CCBill. I never hear back from them, even after second and third requests. Perhaps my volume of sales is just too low for them to really care.

I've scanned the topics and read several threads on this site, but none contain the exact help and/or advice I need. Can anyone help me turn the videos on my site into PPV or VOD? Thanks very much.

I did kind of the same thing (with CCBill) for my Clips site http://www.NudeMaleMassage.com/

Rather than by the minute, I make <10minute clips and sell them for $1.99ea... which you can process as $1.99 (or your price) digital downloads (or video stream) with CCBill or DHD Commercegate (as a secondary in case CCBill scrubs the customer due to previously discussed stuff here about CCB and card bangers and chargebacks and blacklists).

You can sell clips for whatever price, and to further protect yourself and your content, put a minimum quantity on the shopping cart for checkout e.g. $9.99. You'll still do better than as you described, giving all your hours of content and bandwidth away for $19.95 in 30 days.

While CCB tech support these days is pretty cruel, when I did this 2 1/2 years ago, there was a very sharp guy who - while not giving me code like e.g. PayPal does with shopping cart and IPN - told me how to write code in easy to understand block diagrams, from which I then wrote my own shopping cart and handle the $_POST, to then serve the customer's purchase (digital download or stream).

Two months ago I slightly updated that original hand-written code with AJAX/CSS so that my shopping cart is in a fixed position on the page, and updates on click without page refresh. As I have done in my other sites in my signature.

The other option is offer 'limited' trials of your content for $1.95, giving away two scenes.

You have some missing images/buttons on your site. And your join form is broken. The join by credit card button does not work. You should fix that.

People aren't recurring because the recurring model simply isn't what it used to be. People join a site, download everything they want, then cancel. Why should they pay another $19.95 for maybe 2-6 movies over the course of the next month when they can join another site for $25 and get another few hundred videos.

Also, your site looks smallish, so people perhaps aren't sticking around because they don't feel you're updating enough.

Having said that, Phantom Cart, will offer you the opportunity to do a VOD scenario. The problem is that they only use CCBill. However, the owner of Phantom Cart (I forget his name) is a great guy, he gives very good support, and he has connections with CCBill, so he might be able to get you access to the sign-up and approval process. I used his software and I was very pleased with it. Pretty easy to set up.

I don't pay the Visa fee, because $800 is a steep percentage of annual sales. Not that 14% processing isn't either!

But I look in my own pocket and see that half of my 10 bank cards are MasterCard. You can go to grocery stores and buy prepaid debit cards that are MasterCard, so I don't sweat it.

Hmmm, $29.95/month. That's do-able. Too bad they don't have a hosted option, where they watch over leaks, updates/upgrades, maintenance and on-going customization.

I think that's pretty short-sighted. VISA is the king. How many people just walk away and don't bother emailing you. I wouldn't bother, I'd just go somewhere else.

Why do you need a VISA fee?

If you are in EU / Europe its free.

It's the CCBill Visa fee he brought up.

I've not tried to sign up with a EU biller, to see if I can process with them, let alone accept Visa. Right now I am with CCBill and DH/Commercegate.

I met a couple of EU billers at the Prague Summit in Sept, but the show left me kind of scarred and I think I lost the brochures preparing to shed baggage weight before flying back. I'd certainly looking into hooking up with a EU biller on good recommendations.

There is CCbill EU and CCbill US. If your business is based in the EU then you don't pay the VISA fee if you use Ccbill EU. (I am pretty sure on this one.) Anyways, VISA is approx. 80% of most paysites sales, so most likely your are leaving a lot of money on the table. Looking at my credit cards I have a VISA and an AMEX. If I saw a paysite that I wanted to join and they didn't accept VISA then I would just move on without telling them.

One of the best ways to fight piracy and all the free porn is to make your site accessible to as many consumers as possible.

What is a good EU based biller that wouldn't have the $800 Visa ante? I need to add a third payment processor option to my shopping carts, for EU customers.

And I should for Austral/Asia as well.

I'm already CCBill US, and I'm always afraid of their high scrub rate for US and especially non-US consumers.

I'm thinking since bank to bank transfers are so popular here, perhaps there is a biller that is more about that. Ccbill does that as a second or third option, but maybe another EU biller is just about EU/UK bank to bank transfers with a brand reputation.
