While I am excellent at speaking it, it has been 24 years since my last visit to the Philippines so I have no practice at reading it any more. I'll give my spelling one more try so don't laugh too much if I mess it up. Pagasinan ka ba? As for me I am an American that spent six years stationed at Cubi Point in the Subic Bay Naval Base in Olongapo. My wife is from Baguio!

Oh I know that so well from many trips to Manila and Clark. Just loved the city of San Fernando. I really miss San Miguel and lumpia!

No plans on balik bayan. I was remembering that I got my first real taste of the Philippines in San Fernando. A fellow sailor I was stationed with was from there. A month after arriving it was my birthday so he invited me to his family's home so I would have "family" for my birthday (I was 20). Instead of turning left after the circle from Olongapo, we traveled to the right. A few kilometers and we came to his home. This was on the road that the Bataan Death March used. I eat Baluut on my birthday. I was very drunk.

im pretty sure this stuff is real. i buy almost all of it from jimmy, who is shooting in the phillipines right now. (or so he tells me) if its not philipino stuff, then i suspect id have a pretty decent lawsuit on my hands, as that is what i was told these boys are.

I'd not worry about it. Most people don't know the difference and they are getting those asian twinks. Yes in the rural areas of the county, circumcision does not happen until the boy approaches puberty. It is sort of a rite of passage - like over in many Arab countries. But they don't parade the nude boy to display his shame prior to the cut like in the middle east. I was present for two of my brother-in-law's circumcision. It was the bloodiest ####### event I ever witnessed. The father spreads and stretches the foreskin, slips in a bamboo stick on top of the glans, places a sharp knife on the foreskin (split method) and hits it with another stick. The boy is pushed into a river. Later the foreskin is peeled back and secured with bandages. You can always tell a boy would was recently circumcised as they have that funny walk. I was I never witnessed it. But I had to be there as family. I here that circumcision does happen to babies in the cities now and for the rich.

Yeah sort of it. I just remember learning and living the culture when there. I was of course a closet gay or bisexual. You forgot beniboy. I guess it would be hard to choose but if I had the choice of being called a bakla, beniboy, or silahis I would have to choose bakla as it is less insulting than the other two.
The difference in cultures between the US and Philippines is what makes the translation hard. Like the worst thing to say in the Philippines is "Putang ina mo!" But to say the direct translation in English in America would upset some people, but won't get you killed or seriously injured like it would in the Philippines.
Tulog - isn't that the word for sleep - trying to remember - this is the first time I used Tagalog in any manner in almost 12 years. It is fun to remember.
