Am I the only one who is wondering why both of these counters are either never updated and are full of child porn links from Eastern Europe, and straight links ?

Jeez, you'd think they would at least screen some of the links that are added to their directories..
Has anyone tried the new http://www.porngraph.com/ counter?
It's invisible to surfers but it seems to have pretty detailed stats..

I havent noticed that about outster but i have noticed that they make you put a hardcore image as your counter. I try hard not to put anything hardcore on my index page but if you want a counter there you have to live with their hardcore image. Other then that though I do tthink they do a good job.
I used to use them a while back... but the hardcore button was too graphic, so i just dropped them.
I'm not a big counter user anymore.
I haven't used gayrated in forever.
And Outster, well, I'm biased here - I haven't really used them since Rob left. Since I don't use counters the only reason I did was to support him. He monitored the site content rather nicely. Lee's the one who would use them and didn't mind the hardcore because the code went on hardcore gateway pages.
I have heard good things about porngraph. I haven't used them, personally, but the few webmasters who have mentioned them are pleased with the information they receive.

yeah... it's really bugging me out that Outster has a hardcore graphic for their counter.
I mean really now... They must surely know it's the index page people would want to put it on more often than not.
And that index pages are the most often pre-age verification.
It just shows a lack of consideration.
I've been poking around Porngraph for the couple of sites I use a counter on. It's an invisible counter - no graphic. No hardcore graphic. Very comprehensive stats. I'm in the process of removing Outster and just going with Porngraph.
I've used PornGraph and although I like the fact that the counter is invisible and the stats are very comprehensive, I gave up on them because they are incredibly unreliable. They are up and down constantly and at times the referer logs don't keep an accurate account of the referers. A counter isn't much good if it's not accurate so I've gone back to MasterStats. They have a non image counter so I don't have to worry about nudity on pages where you don't want it and the stats are accurate.

why not just use a stats package on your server? its invisible, reliable and free.

That's the plan. This counter thing is just temporary.
All my sites but one have stats software in place. The one that doesn't is brand new (a week old) and am waiting for the programmer to get stats software installed ;)
I actually stoped useing outster and gayrated as i found them unreliable and my gayrated account was violated by some russian and I lost my stats totally.
Was left a little bit upset especially since I both e-mailed and posted on the gayrated board and got no reply at all.
Im actually trialing porngraph atm so will let you all know how that go's
I do use my server stats though and this is a good suggestion by chillihost.
I'm about to give up on external counters I think :)

There used to be a time when you recieved good traffic back from a counter site. No more as far as I'm concerned. It was the only reason I ever used counters, my server stats always told me what I needed to know. ;)

Can you guys recommend a stats program (free is nice) that gives better information than webalizer?
Try http://www.pornograph.com if you want basic webstats withan invisible counter or if you have some cash to spend, I think http://www.webtrends.com has a really detailed stats program

http://awstats.sourceforge.net/ is pretty good, but I also like webalizer quite a bit. I think webalizer works best after you customise the stats by tweaking the setup file, you can get all the options off their website. I think the basic 50 referers is useless, especially when they are all your domain. Try using the option to not display stats for your own domain plus set the option to allow you to see all referers.

I will look into that more... it did seem redundant somehow to add a program like awstat when webalizer is already installed.
