AEBN's Slap in the face to Adult Webmasters?

After todays AEBN press release I rushed to their galleries to see what I could promote for them. I have AEBN on my pay sites as filler content.

I was shocked to see the following " Promo " text on the hosted galleries:

Sick of watching small, choppy videos?
Sick of paying $30/MONTH for crappy membership sites?
Wanna see the real FULL MOTION and FULL LENGTH movies?
Watch The Full Length Movies at Porn Pay Per View


WTF is this? I pay AEBN every month for paysite feeds. I send them customers and this is what they have to say about my business?

How do you guys feel about this?

Its marketing, plain and simple and its no different to the type of text i use when promoting our own paysites on Stud Money or any other affiliate program...

'Sick and tired of joining crappy paysites for $40 a month with less than average quality movies and images? The Click Here to join DILF.com today'

The service AEBN provides is different then that of your average paysite of course and it's not like AEBN is going to put us out of business.

I think it's a tacky way for them to promote their product to my paysite customers. If I choose to promote them I'll redo the galleries.

Ok maybe I'm missing something... but why would you use a free hosted gallery to promote to an existing pay site member?

I looked at the galleries and don't think there is anything wrong with them since I'll be using them on free sites, link lists and fake tgp pages. In using them that way, that's just marketing text.

I would never use those galleries inside my paysite, personally.

Am I missing something?

What you're missing is the fact that instead of taking the high road and promoting all the good thing about their product in their promos.. they are putting down the industry that helped create them... the adult paysites.

I don't promote their free stuff in my paysites.. but that is a good idea.

I think it's very feasable to think AEBN might have used adult webmasters and their sites to get to where they are today.. and very possibly are out to take a large share of our market.

I would like to hear what AEBN feels their relationship with adult webmasters is. Is it to take our traffic, then subscribers, then put us out of business? From this marketing text.. it sure seems so.

A webmaster works hard, puts out a lot of money and effort to promote their sites... trusts that AEBN is charging them accodingly for feeds etc., then sees this kind of marketing. If AEBN thinks so lowly of adult websites.. what's to make them not overcharge us on feeds etc.? ( I'm thinking worse case scenario here )

I think what most people would get out of their advertising is "Why pay a $30 membership when you can watch a full length pay per view video" There is absolutely nothing stopping AEBN from changing their business plan to include a monthly membership fee for "all you can watch" video. I'm sure the rebills would be more then enough to offset the bandwidth and fees they pay content producers. OH WAIT A SECOND .. that's right... the Adult Paysite webmasters off that service for AEBN and eat all those costs for them... silly me!!! And this is the kind of thanks we get from AEBN? Advertising knocking adult paysites?

I think it's silly being a company in their position, dealing with adult content paysites, to resort to this kind of advertising when they have so many other marketing angles they could go for. I think it's a possible sign of market positioning on their part that isn't favorable to the adult paysite webmasters out there.

I don't know what to say to you Squirt... its a sales pitch. Your paysite members should never see one of those galleries. They should never be in a position to consider any other product after they become a member of your site.

Is there no other selling points AEBN can make in it's advertising campains other then those negating the value of adult paysites?

An antagonistic sales campaign against adult pay sites doesn't benefit the adult pay site industry at all, but of course, it will help AEBN make money I'm sure.

I think I'm going to start a new sales campaign against PPV sites. Maybe something like.. "Why pay for AEBN when you can get it on my free site?" Spam the search engines for FREE AEBN.

You see.. I think that AEBN makes most of it's money from Adult Pay sites who have paying customers that upsell to AEBN PPV.. not the free sites out there. Adult Pay Sites give qualified customers to AEBN without sucking up their free content bandwidth.

The only reason I could possibly see AEBN saying negative things about Adult Pay Sites would be the fact that they see us as competition.

If you don't like the wording on the galleries then don't use them.

simple solution - drop them from your paysites!

i have seen LOTS of paysites advertise the exact same way, and i'm not offended. i've been in lots of other paysites with slow, choppy video - or 2 minute clips that are stand-alones. there's a lot of room for improvement in a lot of paysites.

i've seen ads like this since around 1999. i don't see why there's much to get excited about. i seriously doubt surfers will see these ads and stop joining paysites forever...

maybe the sites out there with the tiny low-quality movies will take the hint and upgrade to something more fun to watch. that ad can only work if surfers agree that there are problems with most paysites. otherwise it won't mean a thing to them.

Business is business. The sky isn't falling. It's not the end of an industry etc. etc. I just wanted to see what AEBN had to say about their advertising techniques and what you guys had to say.

I just think it's tacky that their advertising campaign is based on knocking the adult paysites that bring them qualified customers. It's important to see the message behind the message in advertising.

Frankly, I was never impressed with AEBN. The only time I ever heard from them was when I bitched publicly here about them not replying to my e-mails. Suddenly, I get an e-mail from some rep, who, after he felt that I was calmed down enough to shut up on the board, went back to ignoring me. So I took their banners down and ignored them.

That's when Naked Sword picked me up. They custom-made some bear banners for me, and whenever I write, I hear from them. They're a classy operation.

I've been tempted by AEBN's promo stuff before, but I'm not going to be sucked in. If you can't be bothered answered my e-mails, that's just the tip of the rotten iceberg underneath and I'm not giving you my business.

weird! i always have heard back from aebn, even when i wasn't using them at all. by now, i've talked to lots of people there. they seem to only have one tech dude, but i've talked to erin, shelby, johnny (i think he left) and a couple other people there.

the support reps have always been very helpful, even though our feeds don't see much use and we don't promote their products.

i'm sorry to hear your experience has been so different from mine :-( and sorrier to hear that they went back to ignoring you. things like this will give their company a bad name - not to mention missing out on money.

one thing i don't like is that apparently no one at aebn uses boardtracker. to me, that makes me feel that they are not as involved with our industry as they should be. they should have been all over this thread!

they wanted my phone number.

I sent it to them.
and I'm still waiting for that call.

I promote their products and always get paid on time.

D-man.. they have hosted material so consumers will buy their PPV. They have custome theatres and feeds so Webmasters will give their product to the consumer.

AEBN and Adult Webmasters sell the same thing... porn video on the internet. Now AEBN is saying in their advertising "Sick of paying $30/MONTH for crappy membership sites?" and promoting the fact that they have full videos instead of clips like most pay sites do.

Their current marketing makes it pretty clear what they think of adult paysites and we haven't herard from them in this thread, unless Bishop was speaking on their behalf, in which case they have a flagrant attitude.

Well I didn't want this thread to be about AEBN customer service issues but since you brought it up I have two points to make. 1) I've had customers email me about not being able to view the feeds. Some have emailed AEBN and received no response, so they've emailed me to get help, others email me first. When I forward the emails to AEBN.. no response.. ever.. not once.. to the customer or myself. I emailed my rep. no response. 2) My feed downloads have increased twofold each month I've used them ( 3 months so far ) Month 1 38gigs, Month 2 75 gigs, Month 3 127gigs.

I wonder if anyone promoting their PPV has seen their profits double every month to the tune of the profit doubling their getting from me?

Seems to be a consistant theme, inconsistant customer service.

Basschick I'm glad you had success with them.

This is why I don't promote AEBN outside of my members area, and I have a disclaimer about their product before the user enters the feeds area, to avoid customer complaints about access problems and feeds being chopping and stopping all together.

They are just as bad as the adult sites they're knocking in their advertising.

If you are uncomfortable with AEBN, than don't promote them. I primarily use Maleflixxx, and they are wonderful. I also use NakedSword to a limited extent. If I could ever figure out how to directly link to a specific movie on AEBN, I would use them. (as opposed to a "theatre")

Unfortunately, no one program is a panacea.

This was never meant as a slap in the face. I wrote this text about a year ago personally. " Why pay $30 a month for a pay site and movie clips when you can get a full movie with our PPV and pay less?"

I was writing that text in a hurry to get the project up and running. It sounded to me like a good way to relate to certain customers were looking for a new solution to buying porn online, like pay-per-view. It was never meant to be a slap in the face to the membership site community.

The text is intended for the consumers to help my service standout as an afforadable way to watch quality porn online. Webmasters want results from their gallery listings, so that's all I tried to do for them. Provide excellent galleries that generate dollars.

I have changed the text in response to this add to be more upbeat, as opposed to negative campaigning.

I am sorry if some people feel offended out there.
