Not excuses, reasons. If i've already thought of something and it didn't work out for me, i'm going to explain why. Or maybe I shouldn't.

When it comes to start-ups, any investor can tell you it has very little to do with the idea (they're a dime a dozen), and a great deal to do with the people behind it. Being an entrepreneur requires tenacity and determination. "I can't because" is something you'll NEVER hear anyone that's had any success as an entrepreneur ever say. You need to take an "I can because" or "I will because" approach.
I've been working on this for a long time, I definately have tenacity and determination. If there was ever a legit "I can't because" it is not having the capital. The #1 reason small businesses fail is not having enough startup funds to supplement the business during it's initial growth. Seminar-type advice like that only gets people so far, it comes down to having the resources or not. All i've said is I curently do not but am not about to give up working on that, not "aww gawd I just can't do it so I give up" or anything like that.

I've read over a dozen excuses from you in this thread, about why you don't have a company started. And in just the 5 minutes it took me to read this thread, I can think of at least a dozen different ways that you CAN have a company started. Others have been suggesting ways too, but you've found reasons why none of them will work for you either.
Nope. People have suggested what I already planned to do, start as small and cheap as possible and build up. I have no bank account yet and one roll of pennies, if that can get me started on Ebay you let me know how.

Sitting around waiting for someone to drop $1,000 on your lap isn't the way to get things done. You were right about one thing, you aren't ever going to find someone to invest in your company. Why? Not because the ideas that you have for shirts aren't good ones, but because there is an obvious lack of motivation and effort on your part.
Looking for an investor is not sitting around waiting for someone to throw money at me. That is rediculous. I have more than enough motivation and I've put a lot of effort into what I'm trying to do.

I mean honestly, listen to yourself. The reason you can't start up is because you don't have $1,000, and you were going to do AVS sites to get it, but your boyfriend isn't around to take pics of your dick for you, so you can't do that either?
Yeah, that's what I said. I said I was going to start it today but couldn't because I wanted to take new pics and he wasn't here. I mean honestly, listen to yourself. I can't do it ever because I can't do it right this minute? That makes no sense.

Let's move away from whatever kind of twisted logic came up with that, and move back into the real world of business for a minute:
Twisted logic? I thought it was pretty self-explanatory. I HAVE TO WAIT FOR MY BF TO GET HOME TO TAKE PICTURES. Maybe that is easier to understand?

1. Do YOU really believe in YOURSELF? Do you really belive in your product, and in your ability to bring it to market? If so, hit Ebay and start selling off your most prized possessions. Hell, sell off things that are "necessities". Have a garage sale. Do you really need a couch or those chairs, or can you manage sitting on the floor for a while? What about that computer you're typing on? Think your friends might let you over their house to use theirs when you need to? Does the library have computers? If so, sell yours. It sounds ridiculous, but read success stories of businessmen, this is how MANY of them started. They take a gamble on themselves, because they know, and like, the odds. If you can't say the same about yourself, then the business world might not be for you.
This is a borrowed computer, mine died a few months ago. I have literally nothing that could be sold on ebay, and currently no bank account that I could use to create an ebay account. I'm sure explaining why this isn't currently possible for me is me making up excuses though instead of explaining that i've already thought of this.

2. Have you made computer mock-ups of your shirt designs? If not, do so. Then start e-mailing, calling, and writing every gay oriented store you can find. Every large town has at least 1 or 2 of these places, that sells the funny greeting cards and refrigerator magnets. Make a list of every one of them in the country that you can find. Show them your designs, and offer them a lot of them at cost if they pre-order. A LOT of these types of speciality shops are used to having to pre-order their merchandise, and if you offer them a lot at cost "because they're a first time customer", there's a good chunk of change towards your start-up. Out of the hundreds of places like this that exist, I'm willing to bet you that $1,000 that you can find one of them to bite if you work hard enough.
This is not a bad idea, but I have serious doubts that it would work. I will possibly give it a try anyway because I have nothing to lose.

3. Have you approached the SBA? The Small Business Association gives low interest loans, no interest loans, and grants to people every day. No collateral, no credit, no job, no experience, no education required. They will help you write a business plan or evaluate the one you have for free. They will help you with your accounting for free. They will help you market your product to other small businesses that they deal with for free (hey, remember those small gay oriented retail outlets I spoke about? this might be a good way to get an "in" with them).
There is no SBA office within 400 miles of me, but even so what you are talking about is jumping ahead of things, I am fine with my business plan and I have no worries about accounting or marketing.

4. Do you live in a HUB? Historically Underutilized Business District? If not, is there one close by? The Federal Government is required by LAW to give grants and loans totaling HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS of dollars each year to small businesses in these locations. There are literally not enough applications every year to even allow the government to use up this money. You'll find once you start up a business or two, local reps will be contacting YOU, asking if there's anything you could use some HUB money for! Applying for a crummy $1,000 would be a guaranteed win.
Definately not. I live ten miles outside a small Missouri town.

5. Have you approached webmasters of large sites and offered a partnership opportunity? Many sites give away a bonus for members that stay with them for several months, including, you guessed it, T-SHIRTS! What if you offered to brand some of your designs with their logos, have the shirts made up, and act as distributor to their members, FOR COST. I bet you could find one willing to buy up $1,000 worth, and since you're acting as distributor, you don't need to worry about coming up with all of the t-shirts at once. You can use the money as start up, and make up the shirts as they need shipped.
No, I have not done this and once again not a bad idea, but I do not have the equipment to even create shirts yet so that is kind of jumping the gun.

There, I'm tired of typing. That's 5 very realistic ways to get $1,000. The only question is, do you want it bad enough that you're actually willing to go out there and try to get it?
Thanks for being so smug, really nice. I ask for advice like this and you present it in a "how stupid are you?" way. Well...
