Okay, I've been dropping hints about a "special event" at Internext this year and I now have the confirmations, so I can make announcement:

The Liberace Museum was founded April 15, 1979, by the late entertainer Liberace. The Museum features "Mr. Showmanship's" dazzling jewelry, rare antiques, unsurpassed wardrobe, unique and historical pianos and his custom car collection.

The non-profit Museum supports the work of The Liberace Foundation for the Performing and Creative Arts which has funded scholarships for the arts since 1976. The Liberace Foundation has funded over 100 schools, universities and organizations with scholarship grants.

The Liberace Museum is divided into two areas: Building One houses the Piano and Car Galleries; Building Two showcases the Costume and Jewelry Collections, a re-creation of Liberace's Palm Springs bedroom, and the Awards Gallery.

Example pieces of Liberace's collections can be found in Building Two, including pieces of rare Moser crystal from Czechoslovakia. Liberace owned service for 12, with 14 individual glasses for each setting. It is one of two collections ever hand made, the other is owned by Queen Elizabeth.

Brian, if you can't make it onto the bus, it's a very short cab ride. It's a guided tour. though, so if you're late, you may miss something fabulous! Let me know if you're going to be late and I'll leave your name at the desk, and you can join the tour in progress.

I'm embarrassed to admit knowing so much Liberace trivia, but in the 80's Liberace opened his Palm Springs house as a museum, but had to stop it when it became too successful. They probably rent out the Las Vegas house for weddings and Bar Mitzvas, but that's not where we're going. Maybe next year we can convince GWW to throw a bash at Liberace's house!

Liberace bought 5 acres including a strip mall in Vegas and opened the museum there. The plan was to buy up the surrounding land and make a theme park along the lines of Dollywood! Scary!

The museum had a $1.5million renovation a few years ago, and it's housed in two buildings. Don't miss the gift shop!

The house was incredible, to glimpse his lifestyle that was just so over the top - he had a spa in his foyer & mirror on the ceilings of some rooms!! LOL
