Do you have any pet hates when it comes to buying new content?
I know i dont like the fact that some providers will only allow you to download the sets you buy once.. kinda makes it twice as hard for me as i need to get the content not only to us but, also to Chris up in PA so i have to upload it all again for Chris to download or, burn it onto a CD and mail it him.
So what things annoy you about buying content?

- having to register just to see if they have guys i like, or anything i may like
- limited download, as you said only once. Why? It's digital bits being copied, not a whole new CD that needs to be mailed
- no samples, only thumbs
- only select thumbs posted, not the whole set. Then it turns out the other half is almost the same as the preview with the model moving an inch

I've been buying up a ton of content that past 2 months, so this will be a fun rant. Hrm, where do I begin.....
1. Full sized samples that don't show the face, leaving that part just to thumbnails. Everyone looks cute when they're only 100x150 pixels.
The next 3 fall under the "This is an on-demand business in an on-demand world, figure it out already." category:
2. Anyone that doesn't take credit cards. Having to mail out a check, wait for them to get it, then wait for me to get the content? Having to do a wire transfer or western union? I don't have the patience for that mess.
3. Not being able to download movie files after I buy them, and having to wait for CD. Acacia can go to hell, and so can the patent office for giving out patents on stupid generalities, even when the company doesn't have any actual technology to back it up. Maybe I should go patent "a car-like vehicle whose primary mode of transportation involves traveling through the air", just in case SOMEDAY someone invents a flying car, I can sue the hell out of them and make a fortune.
4. Having to wait for the content producer to manually make the zip files available to download because they're too damn cheap to pay someone to set up one of the billion free shopping cart systems that allow for instant delivery.
Now, moving on....
5. Photosets that contain blurry images. Hello? Please take the time to remove this. Or, if you're trying to up the picture count so you can up the price, go to hell I'm not doing business with you again.
6. Content providers that have the stuff I want, but only provide a company name and address for 2257, without the name of an actual custodian of records. So, I can't get the content and technically be in compliance.
7. Producers that don't offer resolution higher than 800x600.
8. Getting a photoset only to find that 1/2 the pictures have some huge brand word like NIKE plastered in the images.
9. Getting a video only to find that they're playing music while they recorded it, that they obviously didn't license (Don't think Madonna's licensing out her stuff to porn.)
10. Similar to #9, buying a video only to find that someone had "The Brady Bunch" on a tv in the room where the boy's doing his thing. Marsha Marsha Marsha!

Here's a few of mine:
- Including pictures where the model has his eyes closed or crossed.
- Not including the 2257 information with the set, but noting that they have it and it will only be released to a law or court official. (Lot of good that does me in two years if the content company is out of business.)
- Limited downloads.
- Providers that say they have cheap content, but don't.
- Providers with a token amount of gay content, and it's usually all the same skinny 8 twinks you've seen everywhere else.
-Providers that include bonus pics with a set, but you can't see what the bonus pics are and they end up being a crapping run of pictures that no one would have bought anyway because they were are red, yellow, or dark, or the model had forgetten to brush their hair.

Clicking to see the samples and none or only one or 2 "large" views available.
Sets that once you have them, are in dire need of color correction and/or sharpening. And most every set I've gotten that includes thumbnails ... thumbs are tiny and seriously out of focus, so basically useless.
The download once thing gets aggravating when I have a tour I'm doing for a client, and have to wait for them to either email the set or teach them how to use ftp so I can get the material.
Awkward navigation when viewing thumbs ... some sites open a new window, others don't ... and if you click the page off, you've just exited the entire website.
Movies that don't include some static pics for thumbs.
I love Ounique's shopping carts ... and the fact I can name em and it remembers sets I'm interested in by category, and shows the thumb in the cart to the set. I often print those so I can see what I bought, or review what I'm considering for purchase. Great for making notes on about what niches each set can satisfy too.
Slow or non response to emails regarding questions on content/2257/licenses, etc.
Inconsistency on the model name used from provider to provider. Makes it hard to find additional sets of the same person at other places.
Non existant or poorly designed search function.
"Updates" that were there 6 months ago and say they went up this month.
HAVING TO SIGN UP TO SEE THAT THE PICS ARE MOSTLY UGLY!
What a waste of time when it happens
1) Having to log in every time (how about a cookie ounique)
2) The ordering system doesn't warn you if you've already purchased a set UGH!(gayadultphotos)
3) Not being able to download video clips (everyone)
4) Not being able to see video samples (ounique)
5) Only twinks in the selection
6) Resized sample pics... show me what I'm buying, and don't obscure the whole image with a watermark.
7) Not enough full-sized pics to get an idea of what the set includes. Don't give me just 4 sample pics from the beginning of the set where the guy is wearing clothes!
8) Gotta have 2257! (HELLO GAP!)
9) Screen caps as content. I will buy screen caps, but please make them bigger and sharpen them, PLEASE!
10) Have sales once in a while or give bulk discounts. I buy a lot of content and I like to be rewarded for being a good customer.
11) Updates... I live for updates! It's like Christmas when there is a big new update with lots of hot guys!
JustMe hit most of it, but i need to see the dick to tell if the guy is uncut, and i can't usually tell with a tiny thumb.

1. The hate is when pics are not in order. This is SO annoying when the first pic they are fucking and then shortly later they are clothed and then after that sucking each other off etc. I have to waste tons of time putting them in order when they should be anyway.
2. No samples and/or small samples
3. Pics that are named something crazy and really long or have CAPS in them.
4. Having to fill out some long form like you are applying for a job just to see anything then you decide to fill it out and find out they have nothing you want.
What a great post I hope content providers will take everyones suggestions seriously.

Oh wow, what a usefull thread. Been taking notes as we have just started to seel photo content.
anyone want to take a look at http://photos.collegeboyslive.com and let me know if I have missed anything from this list that could be added or something in here that could be improved?
I think i have covered most of the basis, 2257, full samples of ALL the photos you get , abaility to pay by everything from wire transfer to credit cards, discounts for higher purchases, multiple ways to receive content ( ftp, cd, dvd ), content available on ftp server for 4 days after purchse. Anything else I should add?

I've been pretty happy with most.
But, yeah I agree I hate when they're out of order!
1st pic of a guy sucking someone then 20 pics later he's all in clothes....makes it suck when you're making galleries!
Just thought of another thing...
The ability to sort content by release date and also include the date of issue so we know how old the content is.

I was looking for some really old content I bought a very long time ago and couldn't find it.
So, I went to Ounique and looked at my history....and there it was!
I was able to download it again even though it was over 2 years ago that I bought it!
Now, that's service!!!

It's funny how this thread was here during the time that I was having content issues (not being able to find some of my old stuf)
Wow some great information shared int his thread and it even has stuff i would never ave thought would be an issue for people lol
So with all of the above said, what about pricing?
In your opinion, whats a 'reasonable' price for content sets?
I know some providers who charge upwards of $50 for a set of 50 pics, imho thats not a good deal, your thoughts on this?

If it's good quality stuff, I WANT it to be expensive!!!!!
Do I mind paying $100 for a solo photoset that's high quality of a good looking model? HELL NO I DON'T!
Why? To me, it's an issue of being able to retain the value of the content.
If a set is $25, you have to rush to get it to market, because in no time flat you'll see it in every new AVS site released, every new gallery page, every free site and every paysite. It becomes over exposed in a matter of weeks, and is no longer worth $2 much less $25. If you didn't get it out the door fast enough, you're shit outta luck.
If a set is more expensive, you just don't see it around as much. A perfect example is CitiBoyz content. Didn't see it around very often until BoyContent started brokering them, and came out with their 50% off special in December. Now it's EVERYWHERE.
This is one of the reasons why I LOVE MaxPixels and their higher end sets. I've spent thousands of dollars with them, and am extremely happy that I did. I've even had other paysites e-mail me wanting to license rights to my "exclusive models". You just don't see the content out there like you do from some of the lower cost producers/brokers.
So really, I think this is a business model decision for the broker/producer than anything else. Do they want to be a walmart of content, lower prices mass volume, or a Gucci, expensive but elite.
Personally, I like Gucci.

Resellers refusing to identify the primary producer.
Not sticking to the same title for each set or the same stage name for each model can get confusing.
My biggest gripe is about 2257 docs. No docs, modified docs, illegible docs, docs that have been faxed and photocopied 50 times. Also docs where the signature doesn't match the release and the photo on the ID doesn't match the set (whats with that??).
i like sets where the socks stay on throughout - but then, i promote socks.
