I have been with the same host "webair" for five years but in the past year I have been having increasing problems with them. I'm now considering getting a new host and would like some recommendations. Please no spam just opinions on your own host or ones you have hosted with in the past.
The couple that are looking good to me are phatservers.net, mojohost.com, realitychecknetwork.com and thexxxhost.com. Anyone have experience with any of these?
They worked always nice to me,but my hosting needs ain't that big like yours maybe:(
I really can't say enough about Chili Host. Luke is a great guy and he responds to my e-mails so freakin' quick.
He's gone above and beyond the call of duty on a regular basis. I've e-mailed him and asked "how do I install this, I'm having trouble?" A few hours later, I get an e-mail that it's been done. I don't know how he has the time to provide the support that he does, but I know I'm not alone.
I can't imagine running my sites without him.
Luke is also a regular contributing member of this board, not a drive-by spammer.

Haven't had a lot of time for the boards lately...but saw this post and had to speak on behalf of Brad and MojoHost. Clearly, many of you know that I used to work for Brad and I am willing to speak to his exemplary character, work ethic and drive both as a business man and a human being.
I was fortunate enough to witness his devotion to excellence on a daily basis. However, before this turns into a tribute that sounds like an obituary, let me just say that I guarantee you can find a LOT of people who will speak just as highly including Tyler's Room. Brad sets the tone for his company and everyone involved at MojoHost sets the highest standards for themselves...and acheives them. I was privy to several client responses detailing their outstanding experiences with MojoHost service, support and operation. I'm glad you asked...please consider them seriously.
I use Dreamhost and it's ok for me, no downtime. :)

I have seen a lot of good reports on ChiliHost but their prices are higher then I pay now and I don't see a 800 # for customer support. No support phone # makes me a little uneasy.Quote:

I have to echo what Michael said about Luke and www.chilihost.com ... his dedication and service has been the best for ANYTHING I've ever purchased ... response is fast and he's johnny on the spot if I need help installing a script or have a question.
Contact Luke via icq - he'll work on prices with you if you don't see a package there that fits your needs. 118-860-760 and message even if it looks like he's offline ... he'll get with you.

I've been with a bazillion hosts over the past few years with various businesses, and so far, we've been totally delighted with servermatrix.com, which is a division of theplanet.com. Inexpensive, plenty of bandwidth, very responsive on service.
But I also have heard fabulous things about Chilihost.
A lot also depends on how tech savvy you are... Servermatrix isn't a good choice unless you're comfortable installing scripts and handling most basic maintenance issues on your own... part of the reason it's so inexpensive is the pricing assumes you'll be your own sysadmin. If you can handle that, you can save big bucks by taking care of it. Otherwise, it's false econonmy to buy on price, because a couple hours' downtime can cost way, way more than the cost difference for a month.
Northstar, did you get a new host? I've been with Webair for 3 years and looking for a new host. I too have had too many problems with them over the last few months.
I have been working with webair to resolve my issues. I'm giving them a second chance so hopefully I won't have to switch servers. I guess it is a wait and see thing, but i'm not putting up with many more server problems from them.Quote:

Speaking purely from a competitor point of view....
If you have a problem with Webair, you should call Mike.
Being that I, as as web host, see customers leave other networks
all the time.... and come here to host.... we hear all the horror stories...
"My old host did this, my host did that.... etc"
We have not heard any of that about Mikes company.
On the other hand, we have heard ALOT of about alot of others....
So without naming names and etc.......
I think you should call Mike and see if he can remedy the issues you are having. Would be your best bet.

I did contact WebAir in the last week and they have fixed the problems for now. They have fixed the server problems before and within a couple weeks the problems started again. If the problems stay fixed this time I may just stay with them. I do have to admit WebAirs phone support is great because no matter what time of day or night you call them they are there.

I know you are new dude, but dont bump old posts, kinda rude. Especially when its not a positive thread in the first place.
While I honestly don't have any opinions on the 2 hosts that you mentioned, I can say that I've never been happier with a host than I am with the host that I'm with now. So... Who am I with? Powerstorm Hosting Their customer service is wonderful and my sites are never down. In the 6+ years I've been in this biz, I have tried all kinds of other hosts but I honestly think that I've finally found my hosting home :)
