I have heard about get togethers in San Francisco on the straight side, are their any on the gay side of things. Would any other webmasters, designers, etc be interested in informatl gatherings if there aren't any right now ?

Thanks Direct Holly. I will definitely contact her. I'm fairly new to the area so I don't have many contacts here but I know that alot of companies are headquartered here or have an office or presence here.
I'm over in Oakland, and I'd like to meet with you. One-on-one is more productive for the first meeting, but we can talk about putting something together. But other than NS and us, there only a couple other GWW regulars here in the Bay Area.

That's a decent showing already just from this thread. Bay Area webmasters would be more appropriate than just SF for obvious reasons. Still what ever it's called, it would be cool to meet all of you :groovy:

Undoubtably, someone will not be able to make it, but if I get at least 5 confirmations, we'll proceed with that date.

I was hoping for a once a month gathering on a weekend. I also was hoping for a little more time to get ahold of more webmasters or companies that may want to sponsor the event.
A possible point of conversation would be to make more of an effort to take advantage of the unique opportunities afforded to merchants and webmasters of SF and the Bay area.

Like I wrote to you privately, I'm staying away from the big webmaster gatherings for a while in favor of one-on-one and smaller, more intimate gatherings. When you start developing sponsors and workshops and stuff, you get too much influence crammed down your throat from the big players. Guys like us end up just watching from the sidelines.
We'll just meet at Cafe Flore (my favorite hangout, btw) get to know each other, trade links, and see what happens.
I've got three confirmations so far, if I get two more we'll proceed with that date.
I'm going to cancel today's webmaster meeting. We'll try again another time.
