my first shoot and stage fright

as the first time i'm shooting video for a site gets close, i get butterflies in my stomach.

but emailing new models is even worse! half these guys have worked with high end pro photographers, and here i am wif my widdle video camera and no experience. i feel like i'm gonna come off to be a buffoon - at least.

    eek!

    I can totally relate :notsure:

Guess there's only one thing to do - be open about it.
    - Tell them what you'd like to see, and ask their advice !

After all, they're (at least) just as anxious about making
it a great shoot as you are !

Shooting models is alot harder than most webmasters think. Every model gives off a different vibe and so do photographers. There are very very few models that are so seasoned that they aren't just as nervous as you are. If they've been around the block and seen and done it all, all the more reason not to worry

Focus more on what your client wants to see. Once you focus on your clients needs, then your photoshoot will have a structure and a goal to work towards. Good luck !

Just remember to have good lighting. So many videos have dark lighting and it can ruin it

Good luck on shooting, thats awesome, Id love to shoot videos but dont have a studio.

btw you shooting sexually explicit stuff, or non nudes?
    Just wondering.
Ive been toying around with the idea of shooting non nudes, like allamericanguys.com.

thanks, guys - i appreciate the support

i expect the first couple videos won't be all i would like them to be, but they'll still be useable, and i'll learn a lot from them. i hesitate to ask models for advice. a little while back, a friend did that with the more experienced models, and as a result, every shoot had a different flavor and the site had no overall cohesive feel.

Huskyhunks - i AM my client

i'm shooting non-nude, non-sexually explicit stuff. it's something i've been considering for some time, and the new regs pushed it forward.

Just use the advise they give you about giving a speech in front of an audience.

Picture them in their underwear. :extat:

This is a pretty good book, imo.
    http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...books&n=507846

Chi Chi has a section in the book where she gives tips on shooting. A lot of them are porn tips, but there are general lighting tips and stuff.
Youre lucky you wont have to worry about a model losing his hardon, .

hth, congratulations. I know youre going to be successful with this.

posing trunks - underwear - what's the difference?

i'll picture them on my website making me money - think that'll work almost as well?

the funny thing is i've never been really nervous in front of an audience... it's when i am with one or two people i get nervous. it's harder to put on a front one-on-one...

    Basschick,

Yes, it's a challenge to get great content, and like anything else, it will take some practice. But it really isn't nearly as hard as you think or imagine...we've been shooting content for 4+ years now but I still remember the very first shoot I did. I didn't let on to the models that they were the first ones, we were all a lil nervous, but the shoot came out ok. (The content we shoot now is a *lot* better, but those first ones are still reasonably serviceable content.)

I've found that the key to getting fabulous content is developing a rapport with the model. As has been already stated, some models will be shit-their-pants nervous and some will be completely relaxed, but most will be somewhere in between, and just relating to them, giving gentle encouragment and positive reinforcement ("Wow, you seem really comfortable and professional at this. You sure you've never done this before?") or normalizing whatever happens ("It's ok, *everyone* has trouble getting hard" or "It's OK, we've had shit on our dildoes before." ) will go a really long way toward getting a great shoot.

And I wouldn't worry about being compared to other studios, because every studio/website/photographer works differently, and a model that has worked with 5 different people will just perhaps notice how you do things a little differently than a couple of the others... i'm sure you won't have any problems.

Hit me up (email me for my IM name) if you want to talk about shooting models and i'll be happy to expand on anything you need ...
