Site Review - June 1

Hey guys,

We haven't had any volunteers for a week or so to have their sites reviewed, so I'll throw one of mine on the block.

BTW, if you'd like your site reviewed, please PM me and I'll put you on the schedule. We like to try and review a site every week.

I started Eurodisiac about a year and a half ago. It's never done much for me and has been through four re-designs. I just can't seem to hit anything that (a) I like and (b) makes any money. I'm not sure if it's the design, the content, or the fact that there are 14 gazillion young guy sites on the Net, so really, do we need another one?

All of my galleries are affiliated with MANcheck.

Well I don't know, I like it... not much else to say really... I mean it is well done, love the soft colours and certainly enjoy the way its presented... perhaps only knock could be too much per page? Maybe its overwhelming the surfer?

just a thought, but in all honesty, I like it, and can certainly see that a lot of work went into it, haven't a clue why its not converting... cept maybe as you a saturated market or something like that. Maybe even adjust some of the headings to be more tantalizing? Though I don't know, they seem good to me.

anyhow, just my quick thoughts.

First I have to say it's a great looking site. In fact I am adding it to my "Great Designs" folder in my Bookmarks, though I promise to steal only ideas, not code!

To me the biggest problem is leakage. I just think there are too many links to way too many things, it looks more like a directory site. Even when I clicked on Join I was a little overwhelmed with my choices, even though I see they all bring you to the Mancheck sign-up.

You also have lots of free content, maybe too much. I think I could probably JO just fine without signing up...if I liked that whole Euro twink thing... :devil:

I love the site. It's beautiful work. I'd keep every bit of text for search engine rankings but you are the expert in that. I just wouldn't change a thing, I think it will definitely hit it's mark !

I've considered this a beautiful site for a long while - from a design standpoint and from a SEO standpoint. But looking at it as I think a surfer might ... here's some suggestions

1. Get more aggressive on the "enter such and such gallery" link on the individual guys pages ... Literally tell them to JOIN NOW or CLICK HERE for instant access to the full gallery. Maybe make the join link animate to draw their eye since your pages don't use a lot of animation, it should be effective.

2. Get that join page to where that's all there is ... the join form. A guy with a hardon isn't reading that there is 4 million eight hundred and ninety pics. He just wants to get to the section of the guy that just got him all worked up.

3. Initially when you hit the site, it gives the impression it's a free gallery site ... and there is plenty there that could indeed get a guy off without whipping out the wallet. Maybe cut back a bit on the full pages, do maybe 8-10 full pages, with just head shots/names in a strip of other models inside?

4. I didn't find ANY words or links reminding me to bookmark that site. And in all honesty, that domain name would be a tough one for someone to mentally remember and just type it in again at a later date.

5. Something to try just to see what happens - get a domain name that fits the uncut niche - mirror that same exact site on it, perhaps using dif guys for the full pagers, and change any mentions of the domain name that might be there of course ... and see what that does for traffic and conversions.

6. I also agree you have too many traffic leaks. You have the trader recips on the first page, but then you also have a links page. This only serves to give your surfer other venues to seek out more free stuff. Personally, I'd find sites that will take a link without demanding a recip, or ones that let you list them INSIDE the member area, and use your hubs to get traffic over and then the tour seals the deal.

A tour needs to take the surfer to the join, and nowhere else. Recall the discussion about more free porn hubsites we had awhile back - and mentioned the mancheck more free porn link - it's like what -a 6 pixel font link at the very bottom of the page - so anyone actually clicking it means they went thru the tour and didn't want what they had for sale and went elsewhere... but they had to hunt for it to see that there too. Just something to think about.

i think this is a beautiful site - colors, pics, text all combine to look SO very very good. i think that your site is just wonderful to look at

the problem i see is that this site is unsure if it's a free site - designed to send the surfers to sponsors - or an avs site - designed to make surfers buy a membership. perhaps those two functions could be split into two sites.

if it's designed to send to sponsors, why bother with a member area? if it's designed to sell avs memberships, why have sponsors on it at all?

and as bec says, the join part of the join page is far from prominant. the guys who click join wanna join, so give them an easy to find, large link higher on the page so they can go use those credit cards

Thanks for all your advice and compliments. I'm so very glad so many of you like the look of it because I haven't been sure about it.

I understand where you're all coming from on the traffic leaks and the free site/AVS stuff. Initially, Eurodisiac started as an AVS site under the domain naked-gay-men.com, but after nine months (and this was before Google had an aging filter) I still wasn't in the Google index. A quick search at archive.org showed that the domain had been registered before and the pages looked pretty dodgy. So, I register eurodisiac.com, which I was sure hadn't existed before because it's not even a word. Within 10 days of re-launching the site, it was in Google.

Months later I soared to the top for some good keywords, but the site still didn't produce much in the way of AVS sales. So, finally, I said "fuck it" if they don't want to see my MANcheck galleries, I'm going to load the place up with links to other sites and make money. And I am finally making some money, but it's all of the secondary sponsors (traffic leaks) that I'm making money on.

I am working on a redesign that keeps the galleries separated from the "traffic leaks." So the site will end up more like a Juicy Goo except I'll have my MANcheck galleries, but I'll also review porn movies and sites - all, of course, in the uncut Euro niche.

So, I appreciate your suggestions. The honesty in these reviews is always wonderfully helpful. (Thank you.) Bearing in mind what I've just told you, if you have any other ideas, I'm all ears.

Just by reading this thread, I am learning alot about the over all design of putting together a well designed site. But I gotta tell you, this site is amazing when I view it! The choice of colors, overall design, wow - what else can you say. Again, sites like this make you reach for a higher bar. Thanks for the insperation.

Then by all means - take it fully to being a hubsite ... that's more of what it appears to be at this point. But still look at the join page comments as well as making the join now links more apparent on your actual gallery pages. And dump off the Member and Join links to eliminate confusion on whether that's a hubsite vs a paysite tour.

I can't add much that hasn't already been said. The first impression is pleasing to the eye and the fast load time of the page(s). Two Thumbs Up!

Next issue...

I tried private msg'ing you to add our site to your list of reviews but got the message saying your box is full.

We're working on a new shopping cart and know that we need to work on the overall design of our site. Being we're an online catalog and not a membership VOD site, I don't think some of the same ideas in overall design would work for our site.

But... we're a bunch of amateurs and sure would like to hear the constructive feedback from all at GWW.

Again, luv what you've accomplished so far with your pages.

The top right corner nav for the join and members - you wouldn't want those there for a hubsite.

Another great D-bear site! I'm as confused as you why it doesn't sell a dozen memberships a day. But I know I have a very difficult time selling smooth/younger guys just like you.

A couple observations that I have (mostly repeated from what others have said).

- Reduce the traffic leaks. You have too many sponsors listed on the right side. I do like the look of the small ads though. Maybe you can just change those sponsor links to your Mancheck sites instead. I think a couple banners are fine on a hubsite. I'd leave the Belami tower because they look cool.

- Add a ton of "Join Now" links. Your sites are so polished and they will probably junk-up the site a bit but I bet your sales increase. And send the "Join Now" links to the Mancheck signup page... don't give the surfers another chance to change their minds. If they are clicking the "Join" button, get them closer to whipping out their credit cards.

- Why not link to universalbear.com for those surfers that might want something more manly? It will also show that MC is not all about twinks.

- I'm not crazy about the white background. Didn't you used to have a complimentary blue background? How about a subtle gradient with colors sampled from your header graphic?

- Maybe you could expand the concept to include ALL uncut guys... not just Euro guys. Of course the name/domain would have to change. You might have better luck selling butch type uncut guys. Anybody know if Anthony Gallo is still performing? I could sell his beautiful uncut cock all day long!
