LOL - TGP2 Revisited

Ive just been reading a couple of threads over on GFY about the TGP2 craze (some of you may remember that).

In essence, the TGP2 craze was about limiting the amount of content given away freely to the surfer, now it seems, some people are pushing for TGP2 to become resurrected again.

How many of you have actually heard of TGP2?

It seems to me like it was a great concept however, it didnt convert to well so died almost as quickly as the concept was birthed.

So what are your thoughts on this? Could TGP2 be reborn using the same methodology as it used previously and, is the state of the industry today any more likely to make TGP2 the huge success it was hyped to be?

I personally liked the concept, as I understood it, but I found it unwielding in its application.. i never was too clear on some of the rules, such as banners, and how anyone could make money off them if they were always clean or how other tgp2 got any trades if no recips shown... so me still confused but as this was a long time ago and I got my first grey hair today... :cry: :goofy:

Anyway, As you may or may not no I have been with Tgp2 sinse the begaining in July of 2001.
Tgp2 never died as many seem to think. Our webmasters are still going strong with it. But as with any other thing webmasters will come and go.

Here just some FYI for everyone about Tgp2.
It's converts better then tgp so you don't need as much traffic.

The posting rules are standardized between tgp2 sites and have an auto updating java code that can be put on your site for gallery posters.

Tgp2 galleries are (ARE) searchengine food.
It's easier then ever to have your own tgp2 site that is maintanace free that is updated daily with your niche.

If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask. I will keep an eye on this thread because I think its important that webmasters know that Tgp2 really never failed. It just went kind of underground.

The first question I'm not sure how much traffic it would have. I'm sure it's nothing real outstanding. Maybe 5k, 10 or more? Don't know. Some of my Tgp2 sites bring in 1k up to 10k. Which is not much if you are looking for big stats instead of more conversions.

The second question is yes that is true of a lot of sites but is even more true of Tgp2 galleries because searchengines treat them like many site because of there being 6 html pages. One gallery page and five full sized picture pages all with added text and links to your sponsors. Thats why.

Well this is interesting thread and glad it came around...

so where can one find a detailed list of what is and what isn't accepted in TGP2's and obviously lists of tgp2 sites to submit to.

and how are they going to address the 2257 issue as well? For example most tgp's have max outgoing links, now with 2257 that hopefully will be increased by at least 1 to accomodate the labelling aspect of 2257, what about TGP2?

Most tgps require 3 recips, what does TGP2 require if any? Last time I visited them which was eons ago I believe a text link only was required but like I said that was eons ago... so any info on that would help too.. or a link to where all these type of questions can be easily answered...

Here is something I post on another board but will answer your questions:

The rules for Tgp2 are the friendlest in the industry for gallery posters.
These are the rules for posting to a Tgp2 site. The rules are the same for the Tgp2 Gallery Pool except it has a no recips allowed rule.
Both will be updated to allow for a link to your 2257 stuff. It is allowed right now but the rules don't reflect that.
The rules below are the same rules that have been used for the the past 2 years or so. They have had only a minor update and that was to add movies to the rules.


# Only galleries with 5 thumbs will be accepted. No more, no less.
# Only 1 or 2 movies of 10 to 20 seconds in length, no other linked or unlinked thumbs are allowed on a movie gallery.
# Non-adult free hosting is not acceptable.
# Do not place any link on a gallery to a site that will not accept TGP2 galleries.
# Full size images are strongly preferred to be on HTML and can be made clickable to your sponsor.
# Images should be at least 450 minimum on longest side and free of compression artifacts. Anything less then 400 and your gallery may not get posted.
# No talking ads.
# No entry-exit popups, no onload, on unload or redirect tags.
# No outright misleading links e.g click here for free entry to pay site!! but semi blind Click for Free Porn is fine.
# No other restrictions on advertising with in reason so long as the thumbs on the main page and the full-size pictures can be seen clearly.
# Resubmits will be accepted after 30 days. However, if your gallery is still in our archive it will not be reposted.
# No child porn, bestiality or rape. This is strictly enforced and authorities will be notified.

Hi,

I would suggest that the easiest way to get started is to submit to the tgp2gallerypool.com. If you already do TGP you may wan't to consider converting some galleries you already have to make it easy. Some webmasters get thier galleries form the gallerypool or they use the tgp2 rotateher.com (pardon the pun)

you can get a random gallery every time. We would really like to get more gay webmasters involved so we can start dividing it up into niches.

OzKaNoz - i found tgp2 rules to be the most annoying ever. every tgp2 i went to had different requirements - some required thumbs, some required no thumbs, and so on.

i converted some big dick galleries, and submitted them to some tgp2s. i made no sales, and the traffic was not impressive.

i usually sell at under 1:1000 so figure that if you only get 1/10th the hits, it's gonna take a lot of galleries to get you to $3000 a month.

In the the begaining there were a lot of site that screwed with the rules. Now a day most sites follow the same set of rules. However you will find that there are some sites that don't except pics on html pages. This is more a matter of scripting limits then them not liking the pics on html.

The rules are easy to follow and allow you the most sponsor viewablity of any type of gallery posting.

I did TGP2 ages ago when they started out, the biggest issue back then was that every one had their own version of the rules. Plus they really never got a lot of traffic. But the good thing was that TGP2 traffic was WAY more productive than regular TGP traffic. Its good to see the rules have stabalised, now hopefully traffic will grow if its a good 2257 solution.

Maybe the new version of TGP2 should be called TGP2257?
