1st 2257 Bust ? Sounds like a clear case of cp to me.

Xbiz is reporting that the first 2257 bust has been made on a new york man. Seems that after reading it, it's a clear case of cp. It's hard to defend a man like that but my question is why involve 2257 at all ?

You do realize by 'gay' I mean a man who has sex with other men?

Because if they didnt mention 2257, not many webmasters would be interested in the story thus, they wouldnt get as much wm traffic to their site

although he'd have gone to jail with our without 2257, he was actually convicted on 2257 as well as the other charges.

Lee, I know you're right but you can see what the feds are up to. Trying to make us all look like were into c.p. and that we promote it as an industry. That's just fucked up :bomb:

    Right and Wrong

These are exactly the type of guys/biz owners that the Fed's ARE looking for.

It's just unfortunate that "we" as a responsible biz have to suffer because of these assholes.

Kiddie Porn be it under 10yo or under 18yo is appauling!!! It's not what the Adult Industry is all about.

please note that it's an adult industry news page that put up that story, so this time, it's not the feds - it's us.

i've seen that a lot from ars newsletters, as well. they want a shorter sentence, and send out something that makes it seem our industry is about cp.

Basschick, it is a genuine news article of interest to the industry. I don't think you could argue with that. I do believe that because of the timing, this case is also being used to send a clear message to us (the industry) that the Attorney General is serious about prosecuting 2257.

Let me also say this, I'm tired of pandering to all the "value" and "family" oriented organizations. I'm sick of all these businesses profiting from porn and then denouncing their affilations when it suits them. Why are we hiding from who we are and what we do ? If someone doesn't like what I do, I'm like, have a nice life. I don't have time to worry about what someone else thinks anymore. I'm going on the offensive. You'll see it soon. I promise I have lot's to say.

Whenever I read an article, I try to keep in mind to "consider the source".
And in this case, I've not seen an actual news article on it, i.e. cnn, newsweek, ny times etc..though I'm sure they are out there.

But whoever wrote the article wants us to THINK it was because of 2257 obviously, when in truth, who the hell is going to lock up and old man just because his paperwork wasn't in order? It was MUCH more than that..it was obviously the CP involved.

But whoever the "mongers" are out there, they are going to play this story for whatever it is worth to scare the shit out of everyone for whatever purpose or motivation behind posting that story they may have.

    Consider the source.

Lee come on now that is not it at all. 2256 and 2257 are and were laws prior to this new fiasco. Hence fourth having to have a custodian of records and date of production slate on all DVD and adult product. This is an exact example of that the models used ages were in question 2257 info was on the product and they went reviewed the releases and the guy got busted for using underage models etc. it is as simple as that.

This story has been going on for awhile. He and prosecutors came to a plea deal last year that would put his time served between 3 and 5 years and fine him below $250k. He had to wait for a court to hand down the specifics though. That's what this story is about.

As I've always believed, 2257 prosecution is just to stack the deck against CP producers like this. That way when plea bargains come up, they don't cut into the actual CP charges as much.
