The second one is an entirely new domain name space, similar to .com, .org, .info, etc.... and will involve another clusterfuck of everyone scrambling to buy those domain names when the registrar makes them available. From what I hear, they won't be cheap ($60-80/yr vs $7-20/yr for current domain registrations) and who knows if they will honor existing tradenames and trademarks... not to mention, of course, it could be the first step in restricting adult sites to one section of the 'net.
