I wanted to see how everything was setup. Anyone have a compliant 2257 site?
Thanks,

well... as one of the prominent First Amendment attorneys told us the other day, it is probably not possible to be fully compliant because there are five known conflicts within the new regulations, and if you're in California, the privacy laws apparently conflict with the 2257 statutes.
I realize this wasn't exactly what you were asking, but i just took the opportunity to vent my frustration.
I've talked to several webmasters who are spending almost all their time on compliance in the next couple weeks. We're not as bad off as many, because all of our content is our own, so we don't have to mess with getting records, but it's a mess in any case.
I do hope that someone who's gotten good legal advice and updated their site to be compliant will point out what they did and went through...
Hey Chip how have you been? I know there is some conflicts but I also know that federal law is above state law so those California laws don't mean anything when compared next to the federal laws. I think you guys are lucky to have your own content, it is a mess dealing with so many different content companies but still a pain no douct.Originally Posted by boyfunk

I imagine we'll be compliant perhaps by December.
In listening to everyone including attorneys, producers, etc, no one expects to be fully compliant by the 23rd.
The only way I can see being fully compliant is to go softcore images on our site being a video retail. I can't imagine what it's like for Streaming Video sites!!! OMG

Yeah who knows who is even going to enforce this anyway. They probably have nobody or very few people.Originally Posted by GLBTcity

I hate to bring up the subject...but the government just formed a "obscenity task force"...the witch hunt is about to begin......

Scuttlebutt..and that's ALL it is (is scuttlebutt with one t or 2?)
has it that a couple of single girl sites are in their gunsites..but that's ALL it is..mere RUMOR mongering.
Frankly..I think it's the escort sites they'll go after first.
Oh..I know what to do..
HEY LEE! Can you set up a lottery or something like that so we can GUESS on who gets it first?
Haha well i have a list of those companies who i HOPE they go after but the reality of it is, IMHO they will probably target a few of the smaller mom+pop shops before going after any of the bigger fish.
Establish a few precendents to use in their arsenal before going for the larger programs with HUGE budgets.
I also think, the prosecutions may start out in less porn 'friendly' states than in places like CA because the communities in those types of states have a very high 'moral fiber' and 'christian' beleifs.
Just my opinion though

Lee
The only major step I have completed is purging my sites of depictions of actual sexually explicit conduct for which it was not worth pursuing copies of the model records: some free sponsor content, some sponsor banners/buttons and fpa's, and some recip banner/buttons. And that step itself took hours.
