U.S Citizen And 2257 Requirements.

I keep seeing posted that if you are a 'US Citizen' then you must comply with these new 2257 regulations and, well, that simply isnt the case.

Can anyone actually copy the EXACT text in the new 2257 regulations that says this?

Here's what I was told:

The regs don't specify this, federal law does. US Citizens are responsible to follow many federal laws, regardless of the country they're currently located in.

Which federal laws apply to you, and where they apply, etc. etc. all gets complicated, but I've been told that this is one of them.

Are you kidding me? It is a US regulation. No one in any other country need comply with any US regulations regarding record keeping for explicit images on their website(s). The Attorney General of the US has NO AUTHORITY THERE, anyways, he wouldn't go there for fear of someone dropping a house on him.

Given this is a law by the US Congress, it can apply to any foreign national living ir or working in the United States, it certainly can apply to US Citizens who go abroad as their citizenship is US and they are naturally bound by the laws of their home country. It does not apply to any foreign national living and or working elsewhere out of the US jurisdiction because as much as Congress may think they legislate for the entire globe, they don't.

There doesn't need to be any specific mention in a law passed by the US Congress to state it applies to its own citizens for that reason, it can't pass laws that apply to anyone but their own citizens.

And the inference is in the act, such as when it talks about foreign ids where it says only if both the producer & subject are living out of the us can foreign government id be valid... but hell me no lawyer... :goofy:

The 2257 law applies to interstate and foreign commerce in the USA. So it would apply to foreigners making $ off US sales. But, I cannot see how the US DOJ could possibly enforce this for persons living outside the USA.
