Will You Be Registering .XXX Domains?

Just curious to see how many of us have or, will be registering the new .xxx TLD when it becomes fully available?

Do you think having the .xxx version of your domain will be a help to you or not?

We'll not be registering any, unless that is, we find a good typo domain but im still of the mindset that even gay.xxx isnt going to be worth as much as the .com version were it available to register.

    Regards,

    Lee

    I'm boycotting .xxx.

Could a person register a .xxx domain if the .com version was trademarked?

I will not either. I oppose bringing zoning to the internet.

I remember enough about basic economics to know the consequences of zoning for cities, and this will result in the same things.

I originally thought it was a good idea, but after all the other posts showing the cons of it, I find myself trying to do a balancing act on a very narrow fence. So for the moment, I'd say no, I won't be buying one. :specs:

Well I'd like to say no, since it's a scam and offers no beenfit to adult webmasters. But, I'd rather that someone else did not buy redheadguys.xxx, slap up a few ads, and start directing traffic to it using my good name. My fear is some adult companies are going to see huge advantages in buying strong .xxx domains and marketing them, so the public may start to associate adult content with .xxx.

Or maybe .xxx will be about as popular as .info. Not sure that I've ever even been to a .info site!

Um..while you may SAY you won't be buying any xxx domains, I'm betting several of you WILL, just to keep them out of the hands of others. :honest:

We should all preemptively ruin the good name of .xxx by letting everyone know if they go there, they'll get crabs.

    I Wonder?

Well let's think about this... anything in the .xxx TLD would more or less give you a clue that the site is going to contain adult content. Cybersitter and all those companys can weed out those domains for "parents that actualy take responsibility for their children". LOL!

With the roller coaster of 2257 status now, don't you think the .xxx domains would do us good? Every ISP from AOL to Earthlink could put blockers on that TLD for parents that really wanted to act responsible. (And not make us the babysitters!)

Maybe this is the answer to the silly 2257 laws, by having an "adult" TLD stipulized and blocked provided by ISP users that want protection from adult content? Seems to me this would be a responsible way for adult webmasters to address this issue on their own. Something to think about... :gaydays:

neags78805 - that was the original rationalization, but the truth is that parents can already filter most porn sites now - they just don't bother. there are filters that recognize all sorts of words, and would keep children away from adult sites - but parents don't want to take responsibility for their children. they can't take 2 minutes out to set filters in place to protect their children. why would .xxx change that?

of all the parents i know, not ONE uses any kind of filtering.

Remember that 2257 laws have nothing to do with protecting kids from finding porn on the Internet. They are federal child labor laws, designed to protect children from the dangers of the workplace. This is the same constitutional legal ground that prohibits Wendy's from hiring fifteen year olds, as well as the laws which require employers to verify your identity before they hire you to work.

Of course, you don't support child labor, now, do you?
